      @Davy Anthonissen agreed. Quite a few cards to make his flush still possible though so I can understand why he played it. Curious why Phil called the last hand though, very strong bet with 2 cards on the board over his 10's.

      I agree. And they decide to only show a select few hands where he makes the right play, but someone calls raises hoping to get lucky and do. That's why Phil goes off.
      Bets 32% of Talbot's stack on 4th with trips, and chubster calls with only the 5th best flush draw, of course Phil is going to think, WTF? Calling on 5th best flush with 32% of his stack? Sorry, he made a horrible move and the cards bailed him out on the river. Then he gets cocky. Maybe Talbot doesn't realize Phil has 22 times the net worth he does.

      His bet on the flop was smaller than I'd play. He was trying to get him off his small pair and/or draw on the turn repping strength, but his ev was off. He should have bet agro and went all in. He would have folded, especially on a 10 high flush draw, even hu. He would have put him on 8Ah or 2 pair. The risk vs reward of the Roi on the hands ev would have forced a fold. But hey, what do I know about Phil or hunlh ? It's not like I beat him in a 2 hour heads up match or anything

      @tarbosh917 6 лет назад +15

      Eh, the first hand he got his opponent to call an overbet dead to a draw that he wasn't getting a good price on. Safe to assume action until that point led Phil to believe he could get called by worse there. Phil's shove was repping the hearts bluff to try and get heroed when in fact he has a strong non-heart hand. If he was beat he was expecting 33 or 44, not hearts. Tonka did get lucky on that hand that not only did he hit but Phil had a hand that was going to put the money in. He only called because he thought his three must be good pretty often, but you have to figure that means he thinks Phil may have a flush draw himself which would very often beat his T high flush.
      It's hard to say what Tonka was thinking on that Turn call unless he thinks Phil has a lot of complete air in his range.

    Phil need to understand that "doesn't know how to play Poker" is also a Poker playing style, that's just the best thing that distinguish Poker from other card games. Professional players can still lose vs. newbies due to luck and/or unable to read/predict their hands/actions. Low statistical percentage doesn't mean zero.

    If helmuth is going to shove and let you win more than 5 times your bet after your call bet, then it’s make perfect poker sense to do that call.

They keep him around because it's good ratings, think about it now. look at the ratings when Phil Hellmuth ain't playing and look at the ratings versus when he is and I guarantee they're probably double because people want to see a shitshow.... it's the same reason we all stare at traffic accidents every single time even though we've all seen millions of them. its the moves they make against him like this move okay helmuth reads him pretty correctly and prices the draw out on the turn there is absolutely no reason why this guy should call on the turn especially when that 8 comes on the turn casue all hes beating at that point are ace highs and flush draws that are better than his flush draw and helmuth crushes tournament poker theres a reason he is still around in poker and people that have won the main are out of poker

I don't care that he drew an 8, I don't care how many bracelets he has won or how he won them, I don't care if he read the hand right after that, and I agree the guy should not have called at that point... I am making a point that he calls raises with hands that he would call other folks idiots for doing so. Yes, he is a very good player...not as good as he thinks he is...but good. My point is, why can't he be a gracious loser instead of a cry baby all the time? Always an excuse when he loses...even blames the dealer when he has no other excuses.
