Listening to your babies was so funny. He was definitely insistent that he held up his end of the deal but you didn't 😅. I foster dogs and cats. I socialize, train and place them. Everyone wonders how I can nurse a litter and let them go. First, I'm not letting them go, I'm giving them to their forever family. When I get pictures, it gives me such joy. When I see people like you and Jim, it warms my heart. My babies are ESA quality if the family chooses. I've had 3 become service animals, and 2 who received their therapy license. The 5 who were placed in an adult assisted living facility and 2 nursing homes were cats. Yes, indeed, cats can be trained. They all walk on a lead, come when called, sit when asked, learned not to rub up against legs (tripping hazard), and they have "table manners" meaning they have to sit by their respective bowls... the list goes on.❤😊 It's like they know when you're on the phone 😅.
Marnea Every time I watch a video of You Sewing something, I am so encouraged. You know my story. I'm now entering the 3rd. year in the 5 year process of becoming a fabric and pattern designer, for Quilts. It is Hard to be disciplined with time. I feel some times that Time is my enemy. I want to design/doodle/paint/draw, color, figure all the patterns out - quilty math etc., then starching, cutting fabrics. Making a quilt to test the pattern. Then all the business side. It's hard. But I have my favorite Quilter's I watch to unwind with on RUclips. I'm Grateful for Farmhouse Quilts. Marnea and Jim, the 3 dogs, goats and the chickens. Hope You're Family had a Great Thanksgiving Jim & Marnea.
Happy Turkey Day to you and Jim and of course Tillie and Dozer. Love you creative ideas. Love BIRDS too. Glad to see you seeing with knee bar. They are great once you get used to it. You should have a day class and have the tote bag as your project. Lots of Xmas gifts starting up now. Need to see the finished his and her quilts.
The bird bag is so stinkin’ cute! And so was the cat one! I just discovered you a few days ago. I can’t wait to see the chicken and dog ones; and anything else you come up with. The sillier, the better. I love whimsical! I think the word you were looking for is trapunto. Pronounced like Tra-pun-toh. This is a technique where shapes are stuffed from behind; either quilted shapes or appliqué. The area is stitched around; then either a slit is cut in the backing fabric and lightly stuffed, to give it that puffy look, and then whip stitched closed; or it can also be done by threading yarn onto a needle and stitching inside the layers, from one side of the area to the other. Picture a satin stitch between the layers. You clip the thread tails close to the surface, and no slits are needed for the yarn method. Something like your tote bag would be perfect for this technique, because you are lining it anyway. I’d love to see it if you try it. It would make your bird stand out even more!😊 Buttons: Did you know you can sew buttons on with the sewing machine? There is a special foot for this. Mine has a blue squishy, grippy pad on it to grab the button without damaging it. So, you put your project under the needle where you want the button to go; then you place the button where you want, centering it under the foot, where the needle is. Then lower the presser foot. Lower the feed dogs or set the stitch length to zero. Set the zig-zag stitch width to what you think is the distance between the holes. (maybe practice the zigzag on a scrap of fabric and then hold it up to the button to see if it’s the right width, first.) Now here’s the important part: You must very gingerly, lower the needle by turning the hand wheel manually until you get the zigzag set to the correct width of the two holes on the button; otherwise, you might break a needle and injure yourself with flying needle debris! Walk it thru a few stitches to make sure the needle goes into the holes and doesn’t hit the button. You can do a lock stitch at the end. Your manual may show you how to do this or you can probably find a video on how to do it. 😅 I enjoy your irrepressible, can do attitude. It’s cheerful and inspiring, and you are fun to watch. 🌷
Happy Thanksgiving Marnae and Jim! I love this bag! It is sooo cute and whimsical. You've given me a great idea and tutorial to make Christmas gifts for my family and friends, thank you!
I love your new space and your fur babies. Marne, you are such an inspiration to me. I need that right now. After an extremely difficult year I want to get back to my sewing. I am reorganizing my sewing room and I look forward to your videos and tutorials. Bless you.❤❤❤also where did you get the cutting board on your large table?
I love your blue sewing machine! What model is this? I’d love to find one like it. I’ve really enjoyed your appliquéd tote bags. I plan on making some for Christmas!❤
Marnea I have a question ⁉️ When I made purses I used Pellon Interfacing. My Question is You use: "Heat and Bond" is that for the applique shapes only? Pellon would keep the sides stiff where the bag will hold it's shape, do You use both products?
