- The visuals are amazing! Though I recommend you view without ambient light for best effect. Night Air Refuelling is one of the hardest things to do but what an awesome challenge! I talk through various considerations as I meet up with a KC-135 with MPRS overhead the Marianas Islands, at night, with clouds above and below. Having the probe in front of the pilot makes tanking with the F18 simpler but it still takes a steady hand and clever use of NVGs and lighting. I hope you enjoy!

I've been lucky enough to witness Typhoon air to air refuelling, it's just crazy amazing the skill of these people. Almost literally superhuman, utter respect. 👍

It's almost like you've done this before :) So smooth on the inputs and anticipating half a wing before you reach the right station - I'll be lifting my game after observing you do it right. Visuals and editing are lovely. We simmers get to practice this a lot to get it right, but it is astounding that anyone in meatspace can get this right with only a few sorties of practice - total legends. I was gonna suggest we crowdfund non-potato hardware for you, but your rig looks pretty good. There would be no point upgrading your CPU or RAM, it'd be the GPU you'd look at. Possibly you may be running out of Video RAM (VRAM) on the GPU in complex scenes like near Anderson. Once the GPU has to reach across the PCIe bus to RAM for stuff the apparent performance suffers. Since we never want to waste money its best to approach potential upgrade decisions with 'profile guided optimization'. This means running fpsVR if you are in VR or GPU-Z if you are in 2-D and look at what the graphics card is doing (the performance profile). If it reaches 100% GPU utilization then you need a better GPU chipset, or to turn graphics options down; but if it reaches 100% VRAM usage then your next card needs more of that. I have an RTX 3090 and the principal difference between that and a 3080 is the VRAM as they are nearly the same in terms of shader throughput. That said, even with a 3090 DCS can still bring it to its knees with everything maxxed out. The RTX 4090s are apparently not to far off so it'll be interesting to see their benchmarks. I'm guessing giving up the arm and leg required to get one will seem like a fair trade for the extra fps :)
Wow, thanks for the detail. I think I’ve identified having ‘mirrors’ enabled as the likely issue though I don’t often fly at night. I can’t complete about specs at all though I may save for a 3080. Though if 40s are inbound I could be patient. I may run some diagnostics to see where the bottle necks are. Thanks again 👍🏻
