I dreamt of requited love, Of a beautiful girl, Of hearts and of kisses, Of bliss and happiness. And when the roosters crowed, My heart awoke. Now I sit here alone, And think about my dream. I shut my eyes again, My heart still beats warmly. When will you leaves on the window turn green? When will I hold my beloved in my arms?
I posted translations to most of these songs as put on RUclips today. If the song text was too long to be accepted as a first post, my "reply" starts the poem, and the text continues in the "original" post. Arthur Rishi is the translator of all of these.
He dreams again, of love, and a maiden's kiss, and the joy and bliss of love, but again the crowing wakes him and he sits up alone. He tries to sleep again: when will the leaves at the window be green - when will she hold him in her arms again?
I do not mind that the voice is rather small. I enjoy good diction, coloration, deep understanding of music. What makes me unconfortable is the use of the body and dramatization coming from outside of the music. I would bet that this is not coming from him but some silly "advisor".
It sounds like you're more of a purist when it comes to Lieder (is Winterreise lieder? I should look that up). I used to be too...actually for most things. Like, I did this Carmina Burana where the chorus (I was the swan) was wearing all this weird shit and doing choreographed things. I kinda hated it....until I didn't. It was that production that kind of started my movement towards a more liberal appreciation. Anyways I think what I'm saying (wholly ineloquently) is that I understand why you don't love it...but there are those who find some value in the occasional different interpretation of something that's well known like this. Kind of like that staged version of the Messiah...with the really weird yet oddly beautiful (and OMG the singing is some of the best I have ever heard WITHOUT having to act) blocking. I'm so high.
11. Frühlingstraum (Dream of Springtime) He dreams he is wandering through meadows full of flowers and bird-song in May: he heard the cock's crow and opened his eyes, but it was a raven calling in the cheerless darkness. Who could draw the flowers of ice he can see on the windows?
The sound is really odd. Is it mike placement, or that the singer is leaning against a partition? Very strange. Better to do this in a recording studio than in a photo studio.
He just looks young here--- he was 34. Now he is 50 and sings with proper technique and without that churchy choirboy quality, but it is much less interesting.
The way he is bent over while still singing as clearly as possible just shows how much his body is trained. Unbelievable! This is a master at work!
fiquei emocionada do início ao fim da peça ,que interpretação sensacional. lindo lindo lindo ,obrigada .
Amazing voice
this is the best interpretation of this song I've ever heard!
He is the best!
I dreamt of requited love,
Of a beautiful girl,
Of hearts and of kisses,
Of bliss and happiness.
And when the roosters crowed,
My heart awoke.
Now I sit here alone,
And think about my dream.
I shut my eyes again,
My heart still beats warmly.
When will you leaves on the window turn green?
When will I hold my beloved in my arms?
Thank you.
Beautiful. :)
This is the hardest one to me, the saddest one.
The best version I heard so far!
*Fangasm* for both Schubert and Bostridge!
🤣😂😄
Wonderful!!
Wunderschön, unglaublich und fantastisch!!!
The character sing " i sit here alone" and I love that this was taken literally here. This piece should be sung sitting!
I love him!

Genius
Gosh, he's good.
@TheJbach and because he has one of the finest accompanists in the history of the art
He looks so fragile but his voice is so powerful, amazing performance!
What a treat! Made my day/month/year/life(?)
❤💕💕
春🌸の夢💤🎠💤(冬⛄の旅🚶)

I'm so high.
Er watched some making of‘s in school. And it is exactly as you said. Brilliant but not his expression.
eurylokos ...I suspect this is lip synced to an earlier recording.
👍
Me pierdo en su mirada jaja
The singing and the accompaniment are flawless. Superb.
But I am not so keen on the physical interpretation, try as it does to be kalt und finster.
[고이감] 겨울 나그네 중 '봄날의 꿈'
I would have dated him 55 years ago.
@Le Baroque Français LMAO
