Friends of mine at different Irish League clubs have individually reported that its only Linfield fans that spit at Stewards and security staff on away days, as well as throwing bottles. This has come from Coleraine, Larne and Portadown grounds. Why is that? Why are their fans the most likely to turn against their team and manager when a result goes against them?
Love the video Sam not enough coverage of the Irish league or Cup finals other than from within in the county itself really good to see yourself covering it today as like Scottish football it gets talked down due to the fact it doesn't haven't have the millions of pounds say the English lower divisions has etc but the clubs over here are steeped in history and tradition glad to see the linfield lads giving you a nice welcome outside the Barrington bar on the Donegal Road earlier being a glentoran fan it's nice to put rivalrys aside and give credit where its due enjoy your stay in ulster 💙

@@damianhindley6963 Hi buddy. I live in Leicester now, but when I came over from Belfast many years ago I lived in Bordsley Green for a few years and went to quite a few blues matches. Great fans and great atmosphere. The big four are all Belfast teams, Linfield (South and West Belfast), Glentoran ( East Belfast), Cliftonville (North and West Belfast) and Crusaders ( North Belfast). Linfield are the most successful followed by Glentoran and both of them have fans all over Northern Ireland. Cliftonville may have a smattering of fans over Northern Ireland, but the rest of the teams are locally supported. Linfield and Glentoran have won most of the league titles with the rest spread between a few other teams, for example Cliftonville, Crusaders and Portadown. ( Co Armagh). Belfast Celtic did win quite a few but they were forced out of the league unfortunately for political reasons.

It's not a big town, but it does have a big catchment area for attracting fans from all across the North Coast area

Great to see you’re enjoying Irish league football. Have really enjoyed the videos you’ve done over there. I feel we’re really carving out a niche for ourselves in the modern game. Obviously can’t compete with the likes of the premiership (even Scottish premiership), but that’s not really what it’s about. It’s down to earth, honest, really football. No prima donnas, no super stars, no VAR (thankfully). Plus, it’s so accessible vs other football! A real usp and going from strength to strength.

Theres a large abandonded 30,000 capacity GAA stadium called Casement Park just a mile from Windsor Park that I think you've missed a trick on Sam. It was the home of Ulster GAA for decades but has lay abandoned for about 10 years now. You can still walk into the grounds as the social club still functions as they won a court battle to keep it open. Its just about to get redeveloped into a state of the art 40,000 capacity stadium after a lenghty court battle with local residents. Worthy of one of videos with all the drama lol....but if you're still in Belfast, well worth a visit I'd say...Love your videos, keep up the good work mo chara :)

You are right . However that is actually a fantastic attendance even for a cup final. Beleive it or not, although you could see empty seats in the “full” sections, the online ticket sales said those sections were sold out??. Those large empty sections are out of bounds for security and fan segregation due to possible disorder. But yes the Irish football league needs better support in NI. Needs more family attendance to really get full sellouts.
If the IFA and FAI had any sense, they'd merge the leagues to bring more revenue, competition and development into football on the island, to the advantage of both associations. The league is not competitive at all.
