    I live in Adelaide and Medicare is amazing. I nearly died from a multi virus combo in my teens and it didn't cost me a cent. Now to see my local GP I have to pay "the gap" which is the difference between what Medicare covers and the doctor charges which is around $30 but that gives me 30-60 minutes of in depth care tracing back anything that could of caused me to be there plus a treatment plan. My better half has just spent the last 3 weeks in hospital and isn't getting charged for it. Universal health care works

    Where I live in Victoria, I have to wait for a week to get an appointment. There are not very many GP'S that take bookings that quickly as described in this video. I blame the former government for that, for not upgrading the Medicare system. Let's hope this current government does something about it.

      The last Government downgraded Doctors and Medicare. They took away three medications I need for my heart. I am a pensioner and now we have to pay for medications that were free even though we were over the limit. You need to look around more at other things they did quietly while they had the power. There were so many reasons we voted them out. Labor will need at least two years just to fix things.

    The doctor I visit in the city centre of Melbourne has pathology, radio, physio, sports health, etc all in the one building. I never wait for more than 20 minutes longer than my scheduled appointment and I'm generally in and out within 15 minutes. This is a private clinic (no bulk billing) and I have no health insurance, after my medicare rebate I'm out of pocket $60. I could find a cheaper clinic if I wanted to but I love this one.

    It’s not always that quick at the doctors. Sometimes I have to wait in the waiting room for 20 mins but it depends on the time of the day or if there’s some kind of illness going around which makes wait times longer. It also depends which clinic you go to. Most of the time it’s pretty quick.

      I've waited 2 hours in a Medical Center a few times, but generally 20min is an average wait time.

      @JB-zs1oq Год назад

      I agree. Even with an appointment I sometimes wait for up to an hour at my clinic (like you, depending on the time and if there some illnesses going around) but that is because the GP I see is very popular because he is very thorough and I feel it is worth the occasional wait. Thanks to his approach, what could have eventually become a major health issue was diagnosed and addressed early. I take my Kindle so that if I have to wait I catch up on my reading.

    My daughter went to the urgent care walk in clinic this morning with a very sore neck, was referred to the Emergency Care Unit across the road, got in, had blood tests AND a CT scan (all fine) and was home again with medication in under two hours. All free apart from the meds which cost about $20. Australia’s health system is not perfect, but it’s pretty darn good!

    The problem with FIFO work is that it puts strain on people physically and mentally. Your isolated and work long periods like 2 weeks on and 1 week off. It should never be seen as the easy option to getting a house deposit. Once you have put your body through the hard yards you won’t be the same. You may develop short term muscle strain, maybe long term bursitis or even hurt a a joint which may need long term treatment or surgery. Once you buy that house, you need to have an income to live and even make some form of loan repayment (if needed). Worst thing that could happen is that they hurt themselves so much that they seek workers compensation and possibly may never be able to work again or have limited options.

    • @dalegallacher7074

      I don’t have any sympathy for fifo workers..they all complain about the job then leave

    • @Bathoven95
      @Bathoven95 Год назад

      @@dalegallacher7074 to tell true truth, I don’t have any specific type of feelings or sympathies for them. They do a job that has to be done and they have to weigh up the risks.
      I guess I felt that this video was selling FIFO work as magical solution for home ownership. Owning a property isn’t completed when you saved the required deposit and get that loan. It takes a lot more investment and work to keep a home long term and putting all of ones eggs in that basket is a scary thing when the body has it physical limitations. Burning yourself out before your able to enjoy your home or even loose it is a reality for a lot of people who do physically demanding jobs.

    Yep, true story. I had a reasonably serious medical issue recently. Had an ambulance called for me, rushed to hospital, had a barrage of tests, CT Scan, MRI, was seen by a Neurologist and was monitored and once my issues had cleared, I was allowed to go home the next day - cost to me $0. Went to see my GP on the Monday (booked on Friday) told me to go and get some pathology done. Following day I walked into the pathologist, saw me immediately took 9 vials of blood to test for various stuff - cost to me $0. Went to see another private Neurologist 2 weeks later for my results this was the only cost to me $60 out of pocket.

    Melbourne always wins worlds best coffee but it comes from Lygon Street which is nearly all Italian cafés. We get the best beans and they make the best coffee. We do have generations who grew up to make it right. Before the coffee pod machines I had big machines in my house. One downstairs and one upstairs. They cost $3,500.00 each to buy, no drip filter coffee here. Those machine ground fresh beans for each cup of coffee. I am not allowed to have coffee because it can stop my heart but I love the smell and making it.
    We moved from Melbourne to a rural area. My Doctors are still that good and fast. All of the shopping malls in town have places that do free blood tests, free injections and other tests. They have Doctors in them too. The last two times I had biopsies on my thyroid and before that I had punch biopsies to check for breast cancer. My Doctor makes sure I am never late for my 12 week blood tests. If I don’t need to see him he sends the referral to them, then he calls me and asks if I would like to make an appointment or he will. I asked if he was going to let me die of old age. He said no. That is all free and in my State my power Company pays everyone’s Ambulance bills. If we ever need one we will get a Care Flight Helicopter to Brisbane. Even stuff the last Government that we voted out messed up. We still have really good healthcare. We are lucky.
    My husband did fly in and fly out jobs his whole working life. Sometimes we could go with him and sometimes we couldn’t. He was always the boss so he didn’t get all of the trips home his men had. Once for two years I went with him, our youngest came because she was still at home and I did Payroll for the Company he works for. The pay was so good that in the first year we paid $110.000.00 off the Principal of our home loan. If you want to earn here it is possible and an American just proved that the cost of living is much lower than America. So I don’t know what they were talking about.

My parents started me off at age 5 with a cooked breakfast and a Chicory coffee every morning before school, so I have a lifelong love of coffee. Well done BAM Famalam, you have found your right place! Sydney are now moving African refugees (fully funded) who have rural or farming backgrounds, to the country towns! Win/win for everyone, Sydney is far too busy for some refugees, the country is losing young people to cities! Great idea! 🤗👍 (We get Tax Refunds and Rebates too!! 😊) Always, keep your sense of humour, we do! Handmade is hugely popular! Yes, farmwork is essential work and lucrative, extends the travel budget, mining is isolated work, but there's no living costs, it's shifts, and is excellent pay - some jobs $200k in WA! The tea is good too! Unfriendly businesses don't last long! We take care of our environment/culture! You don't need College here, there is the option of part-time paid courses! Homemade food markets too! 👍😁

Sold in schools, I highly doubt it, you would see a protest if that was the case, mind you when an Aussie says school, according to the world of bluedog, means primary or high school. Perhaps a university campus cafe, but more like iced coffees at schools. Mind you, I'm not a coffee snob or knob to go out of my way to get a coffee from a cafe anyway so my point maybe irrelevant.
