It is *so* *gracious* of you Kate to share your expertise and your own deep gifts with us -- this story -- and your presentation of it -- is a thing of beauty -- yes! we all need to bring our instrument to the Dance and trust -- I have the little man with the shining eyes with me even now 💚
Oh, I am smiling ear to ear to know that the little man is with you. I won't be surprised to learn that you went to the pub together and are discussing the beautiful mysteries! Thank you so much for understanding so well and so deeply what I wish to share here, and for living your own reflection of it in the world. Love to you, Artist!
I'm a storyteller and have been a bit stuck- don't have enough time, feel overwhelmed to meet other's expectations but forgot that first and foremost, my storytelling brings me joy. I gladly receive the enchantment to proceed. Love, love your channel! Thank you for your dedication on this channel. You are appreciated!❤
Frances, my kindred spirit Storyteller, I deeply appreciate your kindness and also your excitement to jump back into your artistry. That's marvelous and I'm thrilled if anything I've shared here has helped give you a spark. The world needs you and all storytellers, dear friend. Let's share the GOLD!
Thank you for this lovely video. It made me think about my recent participation in an arts event (where I did one on one poetry readings and also performed a couple of poems on stage). It was wonderful to share these poems (which really are stories) and hear the stories that others shared as they reflected on the words.
You have reminded me. I grew up singing and playing the guitar, and eventually harping. Some years ago, a pattern began where, every time I would begin to sing, I would choke up and burst into tears. It is only now, 20 years later, that I am testing my voice again. Two years ago, on my last trip to Ireland, {not the most current} my hosts had kept my guitar, whose transit had been a casualty of the lockdowns, and there it was in my room at the B&B. Tears of joy on that day! What a miracle! I brought it home with me, and have only played a few times... not truly knowing why. time to begin again! Thank you, Kate! {PS - I'm 68 years old now}
Hello Kate, first off I just want to thank you for your lovely videos on Irish culture. ❤ I am slowly going through them, savouring each one as binge watching them all is like gorging on too many sweets, not good. Anyway, I've had some thoughts on the stories of Fairy gifts and your tale of the fiddler receiving a blessing of the enchanted fiddle and his life changing for the better made me consider why. The poor fiddler was only wanting to please and entertain others. He wanted to be the best for them. That's the secret. To give without wanting for yourself. All the other Fairy gifts were for the person who used them for their own benefits and so the gift turns sour but the fiddler always entertained others. Thus if you are kind and selfless the Fairfolk will see that and reward kindness with kindness. May you be well
YES! You have expressed this perfectly! The best gifts keep giving and they give to many rather than one. And just as you say, they spring from a desire to bring joy and lightness. Bravo for your knowing heart! ❤️
Hello Kate, I am enchanted by your beautiful channel. I also, wish, when you have the time, to tell us about the old, beautifully, gold embossed books sitting on top of your blue book shelf. I have a feeling they are also as interesting as they are enchanting. Blessings!
Felina, you have made my WEEK: thank you!!! Those books are collections of fairytales published by the Folio Society of London. Owning them makes me feel like a millionaire. :) I'm so glad you're here, Felina, and mile beannacht - a thousand blessings - to you!
I am eager to be a painter again after having fractured bones in my back that has taken away my energy and desire to be creative once again! I find your encouragement very motivating. I will try Aniche😊 Avanlee in Vancouver Canada
Those Fairies are a tricksy lot! But you know I've always had the feeling that they would have no ill intent for me. This story you've shared confirms this to me and the why for. Allegorically the trickster is within in my case. My curse was being caught in a loop of feeling that my creative life was just out of reach because there was always other work to be done and not quite the right place and time. As such, with a twinkle in mine own eye, I present myself to be tuned! I must admit I'm in amused reverie imagining where the wee man with red hair and twinkling blue eyes would go with this. All sorts of wonderful to wayward scenarios come to mind. Thankyou so much for your ongoing inspiration. Your presentations give me much to muse upon. 🍀🙏🍀
Ah, William, what you share is true for so many of us: that idea that our creativity is secondary to more "real" and "pressing" concerns. I'm so glad to know that you are offering up your fiddle to be tuned and doing that right now. You deserve it, my friend. NOW is the time to create - in whatever way and on whatever scale makes sense for you. We are so lucky to be here. It is a great gift even to want to create. That is so strong in you. I'm cheering you on, always. And thank you, with all my heart, for your kindness and encouragement. It helps me so much!
Good Evening Kate, I am 100% Irish, 2nd generation in US. Unfortunately we have lost all my Moms & my Dad's Aunts, Uncles in this country. We are not rooted here. You are such a welcome, lovely Scholar yourself. As a child I had to take summer school every year. Yet I did so much better in summer school. Is there information on your teaching summer school, is there any of the teaching you provide available online? Or perhaps access to your class work.?. Eddie, is another Story Teller, also recorded his meetings with the older beautiful Fairy Stories. Thank you so very much for providing wonderful gifts of your knowledge..🙏💯💚🇮🇪💯🇮🇪, Eileen our family is from Roscommon and Leitrim
Dear Eileen, it's lovely to meet you, and thank you for your very kind words! My Harvard classes are available through the Harvard Extension School and the Harvard Summer School. I also offer occasional courses through my Celtic Wisdom School. Like you, I'm an ardent fan of Eddie Lenihan who has given us so much!
I love stories like that. My daddy and my ma would tell stories at my bedtime. My dad's character was Peter and his boat, and my ma's was Theodore and he had many adventures with the woodland creatures, it was the place he would go when the world got to much for him.. The funny thing is, that my ma was in no way shape or form an outdoors girl and my daddy not a big fan of the water. lol.
Dear Kate, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful story and encouraging us to seek the same. I did so yesterday, following instructions from a friend about how to enter a Fairies space and I was able to connect with them well. I took my notebook and pencil and asked for their support. The response was magical. But perhaps that's a story for another day 💗💗
Sounds like a marvelous tale, Bonnie! I love that you have had your notebook and pencil "tuned" and now you can go to the fair and enjoy yourself. Thank you so much for your wonderful words!
Hello and thank you for asking! I would gladly take an international student into my Academy. We might have to dance with the time zones, but we can explore some options. Please feel most welcome to reach out via email if you'd like to learn more: kate@katechadbourne.com. Good wishes to you!

That's so funny! I love that storytelling lets us explore and express so many parts of ourselves. Your parents sound like marvelous tellers of tales.
Ha ha ha. Well done. I just read a version of that tale looking for inspiration in Uair an Chloig Teallaigh.
