- With LNER retiring their HST's at the end of December 2019, I want to see them working on the ECML a few more times. I eventually realised that, out of all the stations I had visited on the ECML, I had never made a trip to Stevenage. With not much time left the see the workhorses of the east coast, I hastily arranged a trip down to Stevenage to see what was running. I was really pleased with how many HST's I saw with even my train from Peterborough being a HST. At the time of recording, LNER was in the process of retiring the 125's so had begun taking the livery off of the power cars. This then lead to some HST's being completely red which sort of lead to the nickname of 'Red Tomatoes'. I fortunately did see a couple of these unique power cars as I had been trying to see them for a while.
Along with the Intercity 125's, there was the regular Saturday ECML services with lots of 700's, Azumas and commuter trains with some 365's running from Peterborough. There was also the bonus of seeing one of the Peterborough-based EWS RHTT trains running.
Note Also, apologies about the shaking footage. It was on this trip that I found out there was a problem with the stabilization on my C]camcorder.
