I'm 40 and I have never owned a riding mower. I've done my fair share of work on vehicles but don't know the first thing about riding lawn mowers. This video is super helpful as I have the exact model of mower. I've got floor jacks for cars, a transmission jack, bottle jacks, etc, and several good tree stumps so hopefully I can get it in a safe spot for me to do this procedure. Next for me to learn is how to wash the deck....I see the hose fitting on it, lol. Thanks again.

Great video. Other videos have you take off the deck, not needed here. Also, you took off the belt cover and keeped it off to put the belt around the engine pulley FIRST , then around the blade pulley, putting the cover AFTER that. Other videos showed putting the belt around the blade pulley, putting on the belt cover, then struggling to put the belt around the engine pully. Your way gives way more space and room to do belt replacement quickly and easily. Thanks. Does the blade idler arm supposed to sit down in between that other piece of metal sticking up or is it supposed to move to the side when the blade handle is moved/engaged?
I ordered a PTO Cable and it came with only one spring. My PTO Cable came with 2 springs like the one in your video. The new PTO Cable stated it replaces the old one, but the new one doesn’t work or have enough tension. Thanks for any advice. I have the same riding lawnmower.
Thanks for this, It helped me see how I will be inspecting the belts and pulleys. My system stalls as soon as I lower the blade. Had a bent blade so I replaced it but it still stalls when lowering. I by-passed the switch with snap tie and the blade worked fine and the engine stayed on, it is only when utilizing the switch as intended, it stalls. I wonder why it is doing that?
Hi. My 30" craftsman won't go into reverse when I engage it. Do you know where the adjustment is? It's only about 3 months old, used less than 5x for about 30 minutes each time and doesn't have any obvious transmission noises so I'm guessing it's just an adjustment. I know the front engine craftsmans have a 2 bolt adjustment. thank you!
I just put a new blade on (used a 1/2 impact so I know it’s tight) and I’m sure it wasn’t in the exact spot on the star as the old one. Now I noticed (it could have been there before) a fluttering noise when the blade is engaged. It cuts great but I’m wondering if it’s a belt or bearing/pully issue, or if that noise is normal. The mower is about two years old, stored in a shed and only mows a 1/2 acre lot. Thoughts? And is there any PM that can be performed on the bearings?

I had to replace my lower drive belt on craftsman R110. The new belt came as a 35" instead of 35.25". Now it does not totally disengage when in netural. It tries to pull a little. HOW do I adjust this clutch issue? Thanks

I was doing this the other day and a long spring popped off. It looks like it came off of the brake rod. I think it's the brake rod extension spring but I can't figure out where to put it back. Anyway you could help?
Have the same mower. Recently the thing has really lost power. I have replaced, upper trans belt, deck belt, fuel filter, air filter, cleaned the carb. New blade. Any insight on where my loss of power could be coming from? 6th gear feels like 2nd.

The video is helpful but what if the belt is broken and not routed properly, can you show us how to fix our mower when the belt is gone or completely shredded? I have issues that your video didn’t help me with. Like the black lever you say goes up in the frame, mine has a spring and I see the spring on the one you’re working on, my spring isn’t connected to anything and luckily I see yours is mounted under the arm so I’ll see if I can mount mine like I see in this video, but that lever is connected to a pulley and that is also connected to a black piece of metal that has a rubber guide that rides inside the pulley for the blade, when I route the new belt like I see you do in the video the belt contacts that guide and it damaged my new bell I installed myself without seeing any video of on you tube. I fix cars so I figure I can replace a mowers belt, but I didn’t see that guide and didn’t know it was shredding my new belt until it shredded it. I’m getting my new belt today from Amazon so hopefully I’ll be cutting grass again soon. But I sure wish the video would show what to do if the belts failed, not a preventive maintenance video.
Okay my belt just arrived and I installed it no problem and yes this video helped out greatly. I think my mistake on the first install was not making sure the spring the goes under black lever of the tensioner was installed correctly and it caused the tensioner pulley to be in a downward position and by that happening the belt was twisted and getting shredded. Thanks for the video. Now I need one that shows how to adjust the carburetor if there is any adjustments available.

Hi I purchased a used Craftsman 2012 RER1000 and my belt idler assembly looks different. It looks like I have to drop the pulley to get the belt out and that assembly is just floppy there is no spring tension and the bar you show with the black end is not attached 6:42 . Thanks for the help! Got my mower fixed. Question for you. I had to add a manual valve to my gas line going to the carburetor. Is there a better was to prevent the gas from getting into the oil when the mower is just sitting? The valve works fine, just seems weird I had to add something that wasn’t from the manufacturer.
Your carburetor needs replaced its leaking from the needle seat. Fuel valve is a bandaid for the actual problem but will work if you remember to turn it off every time.
my question is how can you raise/lower the cutting deck? Searches don't give me any help. My mower is set on the highest setting "level 5" but is still too close cutting, and setting 4 willl scalp and bog down the engine. I could use a 6 and 7 ! It seems the only adjustment is a hex nut facing forward to slightly raise the front of the deck. Any help out there?
Ya know by the time Doria married Thomas Markle his 2 kids were teenagers and gone with their mom. However, they had visits with their dad and were very much in Meghan's life. I have the same mower... I recently ran into the problem where the engine dies when I engage the blades. It deos die immediatly. It will slowly putter for minutes before it either revs up and gfoes or just sputters out and dies. Once it dies I cannot start it again. Usually it will take a day before I can get it to start and when it does white smoke goes out of the exhaust. Its not the safety switch as I already had that. Any idea what that might be? I would like to know where to start looking on my own.

They are not actually grease fittings. They are just solid plastic knobs that look like grease fittings. I did the same thing a while back but after installing 2 new tires found them not to be zerk fittings at all.
I just purchased this mower. It was working great until it would no move forward. I found a part of the belt broke. Would that belt stop mower from moving?
I have this exact same mower, and it dies whenever I engage the blades. Runs perfectly fine when blades are off. Is this the belt I need to replace to fix that issue?
Did you ever figure out what the issue was? Mine doesnt die but it seems to bog the motor down and it shakes a bit. Runs perfect without the blade engaged though.

Perhaps the idler pulley, or spindle bearings.

I got the pin off, but my deck won't drop. I can't pull it towards me enough to get it over the "arm" it rests on. ??

What would cause the blade on a trobuilt tb30r to not disengage?
Belt to tight wrong belt or cable is rusted or linkage is getting stuck.

I use a electric winch hanging from my ceiling. But anything can work or even a engine picker

Sounds like leaking fuel in the oil. Check oil see if smells like fuel.

Great video ! I have a 5 yr old Troy bit 30 R and will use this if my belt is shot ! ... need help or video on how to grease front wheels which have fittings but for some reason won't let a small grease gun let grease go in ??? Thanx
The fittings are probably clogged with dirt
They are not actually grease fittings. They are just solid plastic knobs that look like grease fittings. I did the same thing a while back but after installing 2 new tires found them not to be zerk fittings at all.

I just purchased this mower. It was working great until it would no move forward. I found a part of the belt broke. Would that belt stop mower from moving?
no the belt he is replacing runs the blade. there's a different belt that runs the diff that powers the lawnmower

I have this exact same mower, and it dies whenever I engage the blades. Runs perfectly fine when blades are off. Is this the belt I need to replace to fix that issue?
Sounds like the safety switch on the side discharge check to make sure it's being pressed all the way.
Did you ever figure out what the issue was? Mine doesnt die but it seems to bog the motor down and it shakes a bit. Runs perfect without the blade engaged though.
