    To be honest, it would just be nice for current cars to be able to update the hardware to have wireless CarPlay. It’s a hardware issue we’re Bluetooth alone cannot handle the data of CarPlay.
    But, to ask everyone to get a dongle (which is still a wire) is skipping over a bunch of people.
    Future features are nice but Apple always skips basic asks.

      @johnadams6249 Год назад +1

      This comment seems to have a fundamental misunderstanding.
      Car manufacturers are the ones to blame for having poorly implemented CarPlay experiences. Most manufacturers don’t offer upgrades for older car stereo systems, they want you to buy a new car. And if that new car is lacking the most recent features, such as wireless CarPlay, then the manufacturer takes that responsibility for choosing not to adopt the latest features or offer hardware updates.
      Also buying a wireless CarPlay dongle is almost certainly a lot cheaper than getting an entire new car stereo with the proper hardware inside. If you really care about “having a wire” get a new car.
      But the craziest thing about your statement is that Apple doesn’t “ask” anyone to get a wireless CarPlay dongle! It works with a lighting cable perfectly fine! 3 seconds to plug in a phone is hardly an ask. It takes longer just for the car stereo to turn itself on.

    • @Antony556
      @Antony556 Год назад

      Am I missing something here, surely if you're using CarPlay wirelessly connected for long periods of time especially on Google maps etc then surely it will flatten the phone battery in no time. So surely a cable need to be connected to keep phone charged to re charging while driving.?

      But I think as people wake up to what privacy actually means, especially now that apps have to beg iPhone users for more access instead of just being able to take it *Zuckerberg*, I think people will either demand more, or just continue to switch to Apple instead of Android, Ring, Nest or any other company matter fact, they all should be giving those devices away with the way they handle privacy and data..

      @@benbranca The CarPlay interface is already being rendered by your iPhone; your car merely acts as an external monitor. In my limited knowledge of how all this works, I imagine the iPhone only needing to be fed car status information (i.e., speed, temperature, etc.) and using that to create a unique render for the digital gauge. I imagine the only complexity is cars that do not utilize their infotainment systems to manage or keep an eye on climate settings, and instead use separate controllers. In that case, I think Apple should simply omit that function for those cars. In theory, this should take the load off the car's own processor, as the iPhone will be doing all the heavy lifting, and might save the need for more extensive hardware.
