Honestly it would've been cool if WoL's campaign had a bank system that could make missions different based on your completion order, not just because you have more options as time goes on, but because, possibly, you got the attention of Mengsk or Kerrigan and they followed you there. I feel like that kind of system could be used for story stuff. Honestly I also wish there were some missions in the Hyperion. I feel like there just could've been more missions. It'd be good form a gameplay perspective and you'd be able to do a real story if you had a kind of structure that went as follows: Mission structure is as normal, but after Zero Hour, completing every 2 or maybe 3 missions forces you into a linear story mission or two and it would be possible, just very tricky and tough, to make it so the story of those 1-2 missions changes depending on what missions you did previously and it covers a different kind of character development. Though honestly, a Linear campaign, only you'd have no choice but to manage your resources and army so you could enter a level with more minerals/gas but it'd lower the morale of the Raiders due to having to deny amenities a bit more. All your units would carry over between missions but you'd have less minerals to mine on most missions, and losing units in one mission would mean you have less forces in future missions to help repel heavy resistance, which also could be higher. Beyond a new unit you are given for a mission, all starting units are whatever you decide to bring into the mission. You could also stopgap the player from bringing in 200 supply by the Raider Fleet's "Deployment Capacity" which could be increased over the course of the campaign if you do certain side-objectives, buy upgrades for it, etc, and by the first Char mission, you can deploy 200 supply, and each mission after, aside from Belly of the Beast, you could then deploy additional forces which would continually pile up, going well beyond your max cap potentially. Your workers could be deployable for free at a rate of 1 worker per 10 deployment capacity. Honestly with that, you could sell a much better idea of Raynor's Raiders being very scrappy and very, VERY starved of resources, all you'd need to do after that is just elaborate on that general idea further. Having Warfield pursue you early in the campaign if you start poking Mengsk early would be a fun twist to the campaign i feel, especially if Raynor and him would quip at eachother, you could give away good backstory and exposition with short simple retorts. Highkey, it'd have been cool if you had to escape Kerrigan's fleet at some point, and the Dominion Armada as well, not to mention having the Tal'darin on your butt could be scary. Imagine if said faction just deployed an outpost and jsut had a TON of resources to build units with. They could try to lessen the normal enemy presence, or take you out, like say... What if Warfield followed you to the Mira's Mercs mission and decided to race you to getting those forces, and taking the adjutant back? I feel like a ton of WoL missions also needed more room for failure, namely said merc mission needing the ability for Orlan to buy Mira's mercs and he actually has to kill you with that, that would've made more sense. Part of me feels like Wings of Liberty was made on a timeline, some lose conditions are too simple and abrupt.
