      So true, I love the idea of growing what you eat. A few months ago I did a video on preparing my vegetable garden for planting. I love to grow what I can!

    There is nothing like picking fresh vegetables from the garden and cooking them. Okra is one of my favorites too. My ma makes okra just like this (she adds a pinch of turmeric powder) and it reminded me of my childhood days how we had fried okra with ghee rice for lunch . You do not need anything else it’s that tasty. Thanks Ria .

    Another tip I discovered when cooking ochroes is not to cover the pot while cooking to avoid steam buildup, as you did.

  • @bibizeeboohoo741

    Yes Rita, agree with you, need a non stick pan for frying 🍳 ochroes.

    I always Sautee the onions, garlic and pepper first before throwing the orcho. I know u said u add them after so they don't burn. But I'll try that, maybe my ochro will be more crisp with your method. Thanks Ria!

    • @CookingWithRia
      @CookingWithRia  4 года назад

      It certainly will. I struggled with ochro for many years too until I tried this technique! Enjoy and good luck!

      I love it crunchy as well, that’s how I did it (crunchy) when I did my video on it. Yum 😋

      CookingWithRia you can still sauté aromatics first then add okra after fragrant. The trick is to add the salt towards the end of the cooking process.

      @CookingWithRia  4 года назад +1

      Ginger Grant Thank you. You certainly can do that as well. That’s what I was originally taught, however I find that it takes longer to cook and does not get as crisp so I prefer this method.

    I liked how you said don't stir to prevent moisture, because that would cause it not to be too slimy, Nice nice.

    Looks delicious 😋 - another great recipe 😍. I usually sauté 1/2 on my onions at the beginning... saving 1/2 to add later with garlic n pepper. Guess what I’m craving now???

      I understand your concern, but no wooden or plastic spatula is going to flip that okra the way I want without a challenge. You can use whatever makes you happy. If you also notice I was very light with the spatula. Thanks for stopping by.
