WOW, just the opposite of what me endocrinologist and diabetic pharmacist have told me. I'm still at a loss as to how a 90% GFR is so bad for a 68yr old diabetic who trains with weights. The creatine monohydrate actually helps with my glucose levels and I feel much stronger when I use it. Thanks so much.
At your age a GFR of 60+ is good, a reading of 90 from what I read is excellent and coincides with most 18-39-year-olds. It makes no sense for the doctors to question this unless there is more to the story.
I was about 67 when I first tried creatine and I got a lot more out of it. My strength went up a lot in a short time. The older you are the more it can help you. My daughter who is in her late 40s broke her foot and she went back to work after it healed. But she was having trouble with the muscles in her foot after she did. So I told her to take some creatine for a week or so. I called her back in a week and asker her how it was going. She told me that it worked in 3 days. Don't knock it until you try it out. As we age our body doesn't make as much as it use to when we were younger. So the older you are the more it can help. Of course I'm not a couch potato I still exercise I now 73 and will be 74 in less than 5 weeks.
I cant thank you enough for putting this content out. I too have always thought taking creatine was bad for my kidneys. Or kidney I shall say. With CKD I have found very little content on how to gain muscle, and recover without large amounts of protein and creatine. With all of that being said. EAA'S what is your take on these vs. protein? Also can you take Vegan or plant based protein ? Or does that have the same exact affect on your kidney function? CKD is a tricky thing. I was instructed to go to the gym by my dr. to lower my BP. LOL. Yeah I am too competitive to do just that. I have to push it to the limits. Anything worth doing I go full speed ahead. Also what's your take on sauna bathing? I have found doing that the last two years as well as eating more clean, to be beneficial. I am not saying that I beat CKD however my levels are definitely better and am no longer considered to be in stage 3. BP is almost perfect as well. I do sauna bathing approx. 3-4 times a week for 20 mins. Thanks in advance for any response you may give.
Incredibly helpful. I know this is a diet focused channel but I would love more (science based) information on the fitness side also. Particularly on how fitness and diet fit together. How does fitness health fit into kidney health? Does fitness health affect how effective my diet is? Are there specific fitness activities that help kidney health (cardio vs weight training)? In any case, very nice video. Thank you.
I have watched with great interest quite a few of your videos. Having had a kidney removed about 5 years ago my question concerns in what way do all of your recommendations apply to me. I don't recall ever hearing any reference to people having only 1 kidney and how they might benefit from the information you provide.
Hello! Thanks for watching some of our videos. We actually have some videos on solitary kidney that you can check out! When someone has one kidney it is still important to take care of that kidney. Ultimately nutrient needs should be based on the level of kidney function of that one kidney, labs, and other health history!
If, it retains h2o and you may, get one more rep. Is it worth it? No, not to me I'm good w my aminos and protein. Strong as a bull like 315lbs for 7-8 reps.
As I understand it, it's water that's contaminated within the actual muscle cells. Not under the skin. And the strength gains are exponential, continuing as you gain muscle mass.
I’m a 62yr old bodybuilder who had amazing gains with creatine!Unfortunately my cholesterol went thru the roof&my specialist dermatologist took me off it straight away saying it’s going to be banned soon because it ruins your kidneys!Im also taking prescribed medication (Roacutain)for sever adult acne, which may have interacted with the creatine! What Im saying is,speak to your doctor first before taking this supplement!Because all these so called studies have been carried out by the companies that produce it!&most of the so called experts are in fact paid in one way or another by these big pharma corporations! So be very careful in what you see on you tube!
Higher Creatinin alone in blood is not "disease". It can be higher from high intake of protein and muscle damage , also from hard training. It matter on level of urea in blood , protein in urine and GF if you have kidney damage........ many young sportler have increased level of Creatinin up to 200 and have your kindeys ok,

@@user-yh7zc9ke4s you are wrong! I drink 3 litres of water and no bag or edema has appeared anywhere in my body. Eat very little and no salt, no meat, and cut down on potassium and calcium. If your GFR is not over 1.25 mdgl and proteinuria below 1000 mgdl there is still some hope.
Thanks for answering this question. Its been on my mind.

There is nothing better for your health than the Keto Diet!

BUT WHAT ABOUT IF YOU HAVE CKD? Thanks
Thank you both for your dedication. Can I mix ketoanalogues with soy protein, for example, to nourish my body and resistance training?
No man should be ingesting soy. It raises estrogen.

What if you don’t have a high protein diet
It is high in nitrogen. The doctor needs a remedial course in chemistry. If you take it, you will stress your kidneys.
Interesting. Please, tell me more, I'm interested.
Indeed, please tell me more too
No, it won't.
He didn’t say creatine alone will make nitrogen he said the combination of protein and creatine, and everybody knows protein raises your nitrogen.
So creatine does not?@@warwickdennis4114
Only pure water is safe for kidneys
drink 3 - 5 litres a day and enjoy bags under the eyes
