    It's ALWAYS the lazy that ruin it for others. I live in a condo and we have that problem all the time people not cleaning up after their dogs. When I used to spend the night in a Walmart parking lot I couldn't believe how trashy some of the campers were and Walmart had plenty of garbage cans in their parking lot. You can no longer spend the night in that Walmart parking lot and I don't blame them one bit.I guess there are people out there that just expect others to clean up their mess. If these lazy people keep it up there will be no free overnight camping anywhere including BLM lands.

      My theory of life is that 2% of any given population, rich or poor, are just assholes.
      They are always the same. Entitled, greedy, lazy, selfish, mean.
      They ruin it for the rest of us. Whether it them starting wars, or throwing beer cans and diapers in a Walmart parking lot....it's all the same people.

    Don't take it personally. Those that came before you and behaved badly have dictated the policies that you aren't exempt from. As a former trucker, I faced the same thing over and over again. Better luck to you finding overnight parking. Now, maybe you understand the catastrophic situation for the million over the road truckers that deal with this daily.

    My dog past just shy of 17 years old, a year and a half ago. I had a strict rule that if they didn't accept my dog they didn't get my business. I think that's absolutely disgusting what they did to you!

    • @gusmonster59
      @gusmonster59 10 месяцев назад +4

      No. It isn't. People go to these places and leave their dogs in the car for hours on end in the heat and in the cold without water. The dogs die in cara alone and scared. That is far more disgusting than not allowing animals on the property. Perhaps you need to see both sides and not just one.

    • @LifestyleCoachingWithDonna
      @LifestyleCoachingWithDonna 10 месяцев назад +3

      @gusmonster59 it's upsetting when people carelessly leave their animals in vehicles in bad weather or mistreat them. Nevertheless, I think that those kinds of people should not take the responsibility away from businesses to make sure that everyone has a place at their establishments. For me, I only support, and that means visit and spend my money, at places that are animal friendly and allow my dog their, even though that may be a different viewpoint to yours. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a nice day.🐕‍🦺

    After my husband died I thought this is what I wanted to do, but keep my house. Then I decided months later that I couldn’t do this, it’s too dangerous out there. And my husband wouldn’t be happy that I was doing it. So I sold my van. I hope you’re doing it because you want to or not because you have to. I wouldn’t have done it because I have to, it would be because I wanted to, it makes me angry that people have to live like this if they don’t choose it. Keep you and Marley safe!!!

      People go too far with animals now. They're NOT human but many think it's the same thing. All this " my baby" stuff is baloney. It's meant literally now. They're offended if you don't love their pet jumping on you, or by the table when you eat. One person actually set a plate on the table for their 2 dogs! That's not normal or sanitary but many people would be perfectly ok with it. I'm not, but people get offended and so ugly over it.

    That was a shame. It is getting harder and harder to find places to spend the night, even in a van. Thoughtless and lazy people have ruined the van life for everyone. My husband and I are thinking carefully about what we want to do. We wanted to convert an ambulance into our permanent on the road home, but now we're wondering where we would stay, because we can't afford paid campsites and free camping is getting harder and harder to find.

      There are too many people doing this life. Too many are homeless but too many think its a fun life. Its not. Its hard and getting harder. You realise gov and authorities don't want people living cheaper in vans....although its not really because we still have expenses and responsibilities and less money to do it. Keep your van and your home and have fun weekends and vacations.

    Sorry that happened to you. Thank you for letting us know though. I know in Texas they are really strict about any animals in cars because it heats up instantly in the summer. There's a law in Texas that allows a citizen to bust a window to get the animal or child out of the car, but you have to call the cops as well to document why you did it. Not that you would leave your baby, but i get why they have those rules. Legal issues. You and Marley stay safe.

    My experience about being kicked out of, or banned, from a place is they have substantially bigger internal problems than any issues they have with you. Frequently, it's _them,_ not you.
    I wouldn't want to go the place you describe, because they likely have other, bigger issues. I've only been kicked out/banned from a couple of places, I left and never went back and both places have lost some serious money from me over the intervening years, thousands of dollars, and I don't make that much money, either. One of the places was a university that arrested a guy that they paid serious coin for the way they treated him, out of court, of course, around a year after they gave me the heave-ho. I've been kicked out of two places in my 60+ years.

    It amazes me the entitled to destroy public property that exists today amoung all aged people. I live in a little rual town with two stores that have a little strip of grass between their parking lots. The amount of trash and dog waste left there on a daily basis is ridiculous. Then you have those too lazy to dive out one driveay to the other that just drive across leaving a two track dirt trail. Retailers have to pay their employees to clean that strip.

    Parking lots are not for overnight camping. They are for parking for the customers of the business. I'm sure they don't want animals in the parking lot for several reasons - people leave their dogs in the car when it's too hot and the dogs die, people walk their dogs in the parking lot and don't clean up after them - are just two of the most common ones. At least these people were nice about it. An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) is NOT a service animal. A lot of people misunderstand this. A service animal provides a SERVICE - guide dog, trained for the deaf, etc.. An emotional support animal does not provide a service as such. Businesses can allow or not allow an ESA. That is their prerogative. People who buy service dog vests for their ESA or pet are breaking laws and make it tougher for those with real service dogs and real ESAs. Just like the folks who leave their trash everywhere make it harder for the responsible folks.

    You are about my mom’s age. So out of respect for you and her. I won’t say the word. I am thinking of. Housing is expensive and low income housing. For seniors is really huge problem. No one should force you to give up. Your pets once your kids are grown. They are your babies. I am so sorry for you and Marley. How could anyone turn you. Or Marley away.

    Maybe that's always been the case or it could have come about because of irresponsible owners, maybe letting their dogs roam, not picking up after them, excessive barking etc or, the owners just don't like dogs, who knows.
    If it's dog owner related, I really dislike those who make it hard for the rest of us who do the right thing.

    I live in a city and it's unreal how lazy people really are. They will eat in their car and then open the door and put their drinks and food bags outside the car and drive off when there are trash cans right near the car. I saw 1 guy at a stop light just throw his whole drink cup out on the ground...disgusting, really makes me hate humanity sometimes. And the homeless here have no respect for themselves so they leave their trash piles and food wrappings everywhere, again when there's a trash can in sight.
