They both wanted to be his succesors but Izuku won. He was so jealous that he wanted to see what was so special about him, and what he was better than him at. Bakugo and Izuku both care about eachother. Also, Horokoshi's assistant ships BakuDeku and Horikoshi orginally made Bakugo have a crush on Deku because of " a silent voice" , later, he changed the crush to Uraraka because the show would be far more popular with all the other ships.
