Hey, that brought back a few memories. I zipped up that way on my trusty mountain bike, loaded with enough food to get to Coen. Also ran out of water. Took me seven days to get from Cooktown to Musgrave via the Starke. Sand and push bikes aren't a great mix, but I spent time crashing through the shrubbery, trying not to think about the Taipans. It's always the snakes you don't see. Had to have two nights at Musgrave. Great fun, being out there is the middle of not much by myself.
Great stuff! Just shows you what country folk are like. Would give you the shirt off their back. I grew up in a small country town in the Mallee and this was the attitude I knew. You are way more alone in a city of millions than you are in the bush. Would love to ride some of these areas, brilliant!!
Haha, yes I've been working on my fitness and skills since then . People seem to really like this newish video ruclips.net/video/NLEmTuOzNHA/видео.htmlsi=cUmnDCXOIHi9q913
Thanks Terry. Was an amazing trip. Already planning the next. Toss up between the Flinders Ranges and the Victorian High Country. I'll have to get that can of 'Start ya bastard' back to you too!
@@ManBikeSwag no worries, it’s yours mate. We are planning a little jaunt out to the Simpson desert with our bikes next year. Probably a week or so with a support vehicle at a base camp so we can ride unencumbered and just enjoy a giant sand pit. You interested?
not sure to be honest. I didn't change what was on the bike so I suspect it was standard, but it might have been changed before I got it. It didn't have very long legs, I was always looking for 6th gear. Are you towing to Cairns?
Hi Jill, Yes please that will be handy. I'm going to edit the creb next I think. My email is scott@storytellerfilms.com.au I Had a bit more trouble just across the river after leaving you guys. It was a very greasy hill climb that pushed me to my limits. But I felt like a hero once I crossed the Daintree. I've never felt so elated before!
@@ManBikeSwag - You absolutely should be super proud of yourself! That was a challenging track for any motorised vehicle. Doing it by yourself on a bike is next level. I will email you my footage. You can edit it to suit.
@@traviswalker-restrepo I've used www.bikelogistics.com.au/ in the past. You'll need to send the bike off about 3-4 weeks prior and collect at their depo. Melbourne to Brisbane is about $450 so cairns would be more. I recommend you consider Doing a tour with www.capeyorkmotorcycletours.com.au/ I think this is the way I'd go if I was to do it again. Having so much extra weight on the bike wasn't as much fun. And they can provide you the bike too.
