It's trash thnx
my favourite thing about these vs real life videos is you match the game to the real life video clip as closely as you can get it
But it doesn't do it the right way, since the sounds in the game are shown from the outside of the cars (from the inside of the car they sound different from the outside). You should compare the shots under the same circumstances: if you show the real sound from inside the car you should also show the game sound from inside the car, since in Forza there are differences between indoor/outdoor just like in real life
12:24 the AMG GT black series has much faster gear changes in real life than in the game (go back 15-20 seconds)! 🙊 thanks for making this video. It's crazy how audio engineers can't replicate these sounds like they should, by now (2023)
Yeah, the one in the game feels like a manual.
@@EarthIsFlat456every car in the game feels like this. even a double clutched chiron
@@vs-id9yrand they did that for all Forza game to this date. Embarrassing and lazy
it's because car sounds have to be dynamic as f*** for every circumstance...you can't just record them from the source and be done with it, you have to literally simulate the sound itself AND the way it interacts with the car, surroundings, etc. (for every individual car no less) which isn't just nigh impossible to figure out but would also be extremely hard on the CPU if done accurately.
Theoretically I'd say you could record a single RPM of the engine and play/adjust it in relation to the RPM of the car...but that'd be a soundfile playing up to like 10k times per minute which in practice I doubt our soundcards could handle and it would still be very taxing and inaccurate. Not to mention it's not a single sound...when you have the engine down there's still the exhausts that plays in conjunction. You'd literally need a whole science team that works on completely simulating the whole car, EVERY car with every upgrade, engine swap, etc. which just isn't feasable for a sim-light that's supposed to run on current gen hardware.
The price of realism in that aspect is literally way higher than it is for graphics and driving physics, and let's be real...the solution they use is fine, not superb and it could be tweaked a little here and there, but when you're focused on racing (rather than watching videos to compare sounds) you tend to immerse yourself anyways.
The upshift and downshift time has nothing to do with the sound engine or what the sound team did.
They really messed up the gear shifts with the dual clutch auto cars...sounds way too slow and missing the bang on upshift
Yes they sound like manual ... veeery stupid☹️
Exactly fm7 kinda had it right
This is true, maybe I’ll try to make a suggestion on the forums for them to fix it
@@KurumaDesignsthey made it slower so that manual cars are more realistic but messed up cars with good automatics I guess
@@novathepug6692 yeah
I don't understand why the 911 gt3 has such a slow gearbox, pdk is definitely faster irl
I think it was supposed to be manual...the only game in my opinion that has the most realistic PDK is Assetto Corsa
@@romanianbear8873 the interior shows paddles on the wheel...?
@@yhelloh i just noticed that to probably a issue with forza modeling the car but that gearing for the gt3 is definitely for the manual gt3
A lot of cars in motorsport have slow gear changes, the gt3, 488 pista, amg gt black series, the gt2 rs and even the chiron for example, they are all cars that can shift pretty quick irl, but in game it's like they have a manual box
@@ghst7848 You have to upgrade the clutch to get close to what it is in real life. You can really tell the game is dumbing down shifts with the base clutch if you use a clutch pedal.
5:10 I’ll give ‘em credit for adding the small detail of the Cadillac starting off with the electric motor first then switching to the combustion engine in the pit lane. :)
I actually just found out that Cadillac has something like that
i think the outside view lacks exhaust sound, too many other noices going on
And T10 doesn’t let you adjust it out. I tried to turn everything down except the engine sound but when I turned down the (I forgot which one) I think the SRX the engine sound came down to
That cadillac sounds mad accurate😲
This week on "Why does the audio recorded on my iPhone mic not sound like a 5000$ mic setup strapped to a hyper car"
Shutup
This video is gonna blow up. By the way love your content as always ❤
Gotta say, the sounds are 💯 better than past Forza games. Sounds were always a huge gripe of mine in some racing games.
If I'm in a race car, I want it to sound like a race car , and not a vacuum cleaner.
10-4 my bro, the sounds are definitely much better in this game. FM7, only had a handful of cars that sounded up to par.
Apollo IE still sounds so flat. In real life, it screams. In FM and FH5, sounds like "generic" V12. It is just my opinion. Sorry.
You're telling the truth tho
Yeah nothing wrong about speaking the truth
Yeah the flat sound caught me off guard
It’s flat but they got the right sound, more or less. The IE uses the f12 v12 but it’s more obvious in Forza
TBH, every car sounds crap compared to the real one. And that's true for every racing game.
Except for the sound what really strikes me about Forza is the environment around the track, I had to look twice to make sure which was actually being showed between game and reality. Sounds aside I dont think that would be 100% ever correct unless you have the same conditions and exact same car doing the exact same thing.
Si 👍
bro has not seen modded AC
@@pikkyuukyuun4741modded ac has extremely exaggerated sounds especially with turbos lol
@@pikkyuukyuun4741the flames on AC look horrible. Looks like liquified flames. The sounds sound very computer like as well. Don’t know why people glaze it so much🤣
Ferrari and Audi dont sound bad, but they are just compressed and for that reason lack a bit of harshness, and a bit of voice (in both those cars, u should hear a bit more the mid-high frequencies instead of just the highs)l
That's because it shows the sound from outside the car, it should show it from inside (with first person view)
@@rafleg4630 Nah im talking like 3rd person game to 3rd person real life comparison. And anyways this game’s first person sounds awful.
I think they made a very decent job!
The Cadillac, Civic Type- R and the Ferrari F8 are mad accurate.
What’s funny to me is how good the Aventador sounds compared to other games, despite the majority of cars in Motorsport sounding just okay
I don't understand why there are so many people here in the comments complaining, the sound of the Ferrari F8 is just like it is in real life It's impressive how to criticize Forza, everyone becomes an audio technician out of nowhere 😂
Welp, not to mention that modders could do the same just by using a youtube video instead of an irl recording……BUT, the complains are that the sounds are all syntetized and compressed, meaning that they lack harshness and color. While the f8 does indeed sound good, its a rare case, and it still has all of the things i mentioned before; also, funny thing is that the audio for it was already used in FH5, so literally it wasnt even made for this game and isnt new.
@@Vioral "they lack hardness and color", that seems like a shallow argument that doesn't add or prove anything, I didn't even know that sounds could have color
If you are dissatisfied with this, then go play Assetto Corsa or then install a mod to play Forza with more harnesses and color 😂
for me, they're crying for nothing, "the gear shifting speed isn't good" oh screw it, the sound design of this game is amazing
@@Mrparanoico66 Welp the thing abt harshness and color is something I noticed after cruising around a lot on FH5, and FH5 is even better at that with its sounds compared to FM, so i imagine a pretty bad experience with this game so far. While i dont think i need to explain what i meant with harshness, I used the term “color” to not use any more technical word, and by “color” I literally meant the lack of details and the compressed sound not making the car feel alive, since most of them are just missing the dominant frequencies (or exhaust sounds volume) that they should have.
Also, I dont know abt u, but as far as I know, most people actually try to image what a sound would look like after hearing it, and the fact of them lacking dominant frequencies (or exhaust sound volume) does make that image in ur head more dull and less defined, basically not really alive.
I apologize if my English isnt the best.
@@Mrparanoico66 And yes, mixing is good for this sounds (aside the compression ofc), also the acoustics are good, but i dont think its really worth the fact of having this syntetized sounds and them not feeling harsh like in real life. I’m just here cause i like some stuff abt this game and i feel like it would be fun to play but literally it has kinda too many flaws rn.
Honestly, they've done better than in the past. Sound design is extremely difficult. Plus, you have to remember that the harsh sounds of motors can become uncomfortable in gaming, especially long sessions. It's close enough for me.
It's a game named "motorsport". People are expecting the car to sound somewhat realistic.
the cadilac taking off at 5:12 sounds like a rocket launch 🔥🔥🔥you gotta wear good bass headphones
Man, Playground games still has issues with sound. They are lacking gearbox whine, engine load, exhaust audio. Something The Crew Motorsport actually got right.
C'mon Forza we want the visceral audio.
playground makes horizon. this is turn10, a much shittier studio (they were good up until about 2011~ or so)
FH5 has gearbox whine.
maybe they will get car sounds right in forza motorsport 9 😂
You’ll only have to wait till 2029 and they still probably won’t 😭😭😭
Sonysta passando vergonha que coisa normal vou até tira print pra mostra meus amigos
Idk man most of the cars in the vid sounds pretty accurate. The F8 for example
I like how they use 85 mics to record the real cars, but fail to add 50% of the sounds that these cars make.
Where is the pops
Where is the metallic sounds
Where is the nastiness
@@Harryjw67or even until 2097.
They all sound ok. Lotta compression in the in game sounds, you lose the full sound the irl engines have. The gearshifts are also way too slow, and lack punch for a lot of the cars. They could have done worse tho
Bruh i actually got confused, forza is so beautiful.
Great video! I think most of these are very good, they aren’t perfect but some of them are not too far off imo. The ctr for example sounds spot on, while the Audi imsa gto sounds a little muted and the blow-off should’ve been louder. The last comparison is kinda unfair tho, you can’t put equal length headers and anti-lag on the 22b in the game 🤷🏼♂️
Yeah I thought the FM sounds are pretty good too. In fact the AmG Black series sounds better than the real life version imo. Overall I think the sounds are great. Also keep in mind they will change as you upgrade your car!
Good Job 👍🏻👍🏻
The Cadillac is 🔥
Great video bro, lots of effort. I really didn't expect Forza to go the realistic route, not that they have perfect sounds here, but many of these sounds was impressive for Forza standards.
P.S - dont give critique here if you dont listen this on headphones or good speakers.
The first game that nails car sounds will be one of the best racing games ever
need for speed most wanted 2012 and it's trash
@@fancy3774That didn't have the best car engine sounds
Sounds are great :)
It's like a lot of the high-pitched sound has been filtered out, and the engine notes have that sort of "tinny" feel where the sound isn't constant enough. It's weird.
It's almost as if the GT7 sound engineers worked on this game 🤦♂️
Did they actually?
@@LawnMower-jv8hg well after forza motorsport 6, a bunch of forza sound engineers went to work on gran turismo. that's why they sound kinda similar nowadays.
@@GraveUypo oh I see
You're wrong, since GT Sport the GT sounds are pretty accurate, if you do some research you will find that!
Would be helpful if you label what's real life and what's Forza... lol. But for real, hopefully they utilize this new approach to constantly updating the game by also updating car sounds to sound more like their real life counterparts.
The amount of flames from exhaust pipes is now exaggerated like Horizon. I hate it.
A game will never be 100% accurate to real life especially when irl isn’t in a chase cam in your pov. This game sounds incredible
I disagree. Car sounds will only improve just like graphics and I think at some point we'll struggle to tell the difference between in-game vs real life.
The gear changes are not fast enough for the GT3, Black Series and F8 Tributo ...
The Cadillac V-LMDh, Ferrari F8, Honda Civic Type R FK8, Mclaren 600Lt and the Subaru Impreza 22B was actuall close to the real sound.
cadillac sounded so good taking off in the game
5:09 WHAT It also starts like real life :o damn! The car in Forza also sounds freaking good!
The 992 GT3 in the real vid has no stock exhaust. The stock exhaust sounds very good, but different
I thought so, sounded way too crazy to be stock
They sound very good, it’s just that Diablo is screwed up again.
Very good ? lol
@@lepilote4527yah, they are
Were almost there boys
What’s crazy is sometimes i can’t even tell when’s it’s irl or the game footage 😂
I've noticed that (in the Ferrari F8 for example) the Blow Of Valve has various spooling sounds, instead of just one, like in FH5.
Interior sounds are much better, compared to it's predecesor.
It sounds like most cars share the same engine :D I am in shock because I was sure that forza in 2023 will be more realistic in case of sound, more realistic pops and bangs etc.
We need a new generation of sound! cmon, a big portion of the fun is to hear the delicious sounds of the cars, and we just hear that sintetized crap!
I think the sounds are a big improvement. Not as good as acc but they have the luxury of much less cars
We have SSDs, CPUs, GPUs, teraflops but we still don't have a minimum fidelity engine sound. For me, the most ridiculous issue is a car with stock and, after, racing exhaust sounding exactly the same. If technology reach some level where some singer with no talent can sound perfectly fine using a software called Autotune, why don't the devs create some algorithm to convert previously recorded real life car sounds to acceptable game car sounds?
A guy on RUclips actually created an Engine Simulator, that recreates everything in a car engine and replicates the sound. It's amazing, but running the thing itself is heavy, so it wouldn't make sense to implement that in a game that already has a lot of physics and other stuff going on. So they use simplified systems instead, it's always a balance between fidelity and performance.
You know when you eat food, and it's just a salty with no flavor? That's what the sounds sound like in FM. You can taste that there's something there, but it's not enough, nor is it right. Not gonna bash the game, but FM has been a huge letdown so far.
Brass and trumpets have more bite to them than Forza Motorsport.
The back fire sounds are just not aggressive enough on Forza.
Car sounds are epic in crew motorfest. Like they are all from the fast and the furious lol
Damn didn’t know a AMG gt could sound so dull. You can’t even hear the V8 only the turbo’s
Wow, IRL there are a lot more muffler popping sounds than I expected. I thought Forza was overdoing it. That Mclaren was spitting fire.
Weird that they don't use the real sounds for the cars. Can't be that hard these days 🤔
I was thinking that too, I can't see the reason why it needs so much computerisation 🤔🤔
Just needs a simple audio file
@@mr.kumar1first off, too expensive
Second off, it’s too hard
Third off, if they did it. It would be worst than the one they’re currently using since the methods they use are really obsolete
@@Zapatronical what do you mean too expensive??
@@ZapatronicalYou work for them? You don't understand nothing of racing games developers. Capture sounds is not expensive.
Please please do a gran Turismo 7 vs real life sounds!!!
Real life looks more realistic than game.
the biggest problem in this game is the gearbox on dct cars, that's WAY too slow and sounds like a manual wtf
Hanno detto che avrebbero rifatto il suono dei motori ma a quanto pare non hanno rifatto niente
Still nice sound for the cadillac but a shame not all light at the rear of the car are working. Even at the front when u race at night.
Racing games need a static camera you can put some where, so you can hear your car fly by
They do, it’s called replays lol
@@KurumaDesigns no not replays, a camera for driving in real time so you can actually see the speed you are moving at
@@Vslrxgc8 ahh
I'm more impressed by the graphics, they look so real.
Look at trees and shadows.. 😂 Thats far from real... Its a little bit better FM7
@@_4G63_Bro FM7 had planks for trees are you kidding me? These look 3d and sometimes quite close to photorealism.
@@gradient5319 😂😂😂 realistic and 3d you say? 😂😂😂😂😂
GT7 VS FM Vs real life plss
I hate how some dual clutch cars in Motorsport shift HELLA slow, this game was very disappointing.
Its an improvement but there not great. They have still got alot of work to do. Still think Playground games do a better job on Horizon.
ok but can we talk about how the AMG GT sounds like a Ferrari 458
Here at t10 no sound is released until it's scrubbed with our patented homoginizer.
To thia day o stil not grasp how can the almoast nail the video life like in games the sound left behind in old commodore times😂😂😂😂😂
Wow the real life footages look much more realistic compared to FM.
It's close but I don't understand why they always almost removing the lower spectrum. They should sound more bassy.
You couldn’t have found a video of a stock GT Black Series to compare to?
I can't hear the millions of dollars
The best comparison to see how bad car sounds are is to get a good clip of a 350 chevy small block idling and revving and compare it to the absolute disaster that is every v8 in every video game.
18:55 *Firework moment*
The audi missing the turbo cheddar😮
22B 😍😍
WTF i thought the first real footage was game footage lol
Some of them have modified exhaust that will slight change the sounds
the "real" WRX shown is a very long way away from a stock WRX lol.
@@Chippy569porsche too xD
And ppl complaining about gearbox whine missing, well, upgrade gearbox and there you go. Shocked me to hear gearbox whine on a 350z xD
what about GT7 vs Forza vs Real
The game seems to miss the treble sounds the really high pitch stuff and the gargle
Yup this 💯
95% of the cars in the game lack the low end visceral growl, and any engine above 5000 rev sounds like a kitchen blender, but this is my opinion with most newer car games.
I open the video, gear changes are still slow af, I close the video. Crazy how Forza can't just make them as real after so many years
In my opinion sometimes real life can be a little boring so I prefer for the developers not to attempt to be 100% realistic.
Ac sound mods are undefeated
I can’t tell if If it’s better than fh5 or worse
Sadly there is no racing game which nails the sound :(
The crew motorfest sounds much better
The transmission or the shifting was the thing that disappointed me most with Motorsport 7 and it hasn't been improved at all. Thanks to you, I'll save the money and put some real gas in my car instead.
Wow both look great but real life better🤣
Motorsport 4 to me still remains the best sounding of all the Forza Motorsports.
That's the Forza I currently play sounding is not the best lol it's like a 2011 game 💀
@@rcplayground7 Yes, and I’m saying the engine sounds have regressed since then.
@@Dironomer I don't think so
2:44 the car shit itself
Just realised that vacuum sounds in Gran Turismo are actually realistic lol
Intakes sound exaggerated tbf tho
Good enough for game pass
Haha, Game pass is pure magic.
Right. I would never have bought this game.
Where is the 1979 Chevy Camaro Z28???
Where is the 1977 Pontiac trans am firebird??
2 vintage iconic cars
The exhaust flames are too slow.. You'd think they could at least get that right
most of the IRL cars are modified
Subaru TOP!
mostly decent, but always lacking punch and details. I'd give it a 5 out of 10, which is good by game standards.
To get the right sounds you have to have the sound waves bouncing off the environment as the car passes them correctly which is probably impossible to do with todays technology. The real life sounds just can't be replicated exactly.
Tendría que hacer estado Gran Turismo 7 en la comparación. Desde mi punto de vista no suenan nada parecidos.
The issue i think is the game audio devs and money allocated to sound development, because you can see assetto corsa competizione and raceroom (one of the best in my opinion) have the most real sounds. Forza sounds are much more generic in my opinion. Sem like a bunch of cars have the same sound and all are kind mid to bad.
