      What really happens is, Brian walks back to his amps like he does most of the time during the whole show. He also most likely did a quick tune up. If you actually look at the video carefully you'll see he never swaps guitars, it's still his Red Special, so no, he didn't break any string.

    • @MizCriz46
      @MizCriz46 2 месяца назад +5

      @@SealedKiller Never heard that he broke a string but something did go wrong. I read a comment by someone who was there. If you watch carefully you see that Freddie turns on the piano bench toward Brian. You hear Brian play one note but then, just before the camera cuts away, you see him unplug his guitar. As Freddie comes to the front of the stage he's looking at Brian heading back to what, I've read, was the guitar technician. Freddie starts working the crowd & looks back again to see Brian coming back to the front.

      Yes definitely recommend their Live Aid performance. What people who weren't around at the time don't realise is that as well as the concert at Wembley Stadium there was a US concert in Philadelphia at the same time and they played the concerts on big screens at both venues plus screened the whole thing live around the world including here in New Zealand where we watched it live. One of the biggest music moments in history. Each band/artist had 20 minutes each to do a set and they had 3 revolving stages at Wembley so they could have one setting up, one performing and one packing out at the same time. We'll worth a watch. Incidentally there's a great and hilarious two part documentary on RUclips on getting Live Aid on focused around Bob Geldof who organised the whole thing.

Like… can you even imagine that kind of talent? “Sure, I’m gonna get one of the hardest doctorates in the world… be about two years from finishing it and then hit pause for THIRTY YEARS, and then go back and finish it at 58”?! I mean, he got lucky that no one studied or cared about what he was researching for all but like four years he was gone, but still. I can barely remember how to use the geometry I learned in high school, and he’s finishing a PhD on “radial velocity using absorption spectroscopy and doppler spectroscopy of zodiacal light using a Fabry-Pérot interferometer” like he’s just take a pause to walk around the park. In ‘81 at CNE Stadium in Toronto, Ontario my 16 year old self had what I realized later was a very lucky summer that made lifetime memories. I saw Queen and The Who live, I loved them both and still do. Both were incredible live, both brilliant innovators who changed music & made history but the simple truth is there will never, ever be another Freddie Mercury. He’s a triple threat never to be repeated; songwriting & musical genius surrounded by three other musical geniuses, what are the odds; the best male voice ever (argue if you want but the range & depth cannot be equaled) all in the body of the best frontman in music. That will never be topped either, no one commanded an audience like Freddie, not before, not during and not since. He had a natural magic on stage that you can’t learn or copy. He never performed a song the exact same way twice, he never failed to connect with every single person in the audience and no one but Freddie could effortlessly take complete command of an entire audience (70,000+) and make them do as he wished without even seeming to ask. No where is this demonstrated better than the performance I’d love to see your reaction to, Under Pressure at Wembley Stadium - ruclips.net/video/OVzvoPP6M50/видео.htmlsi=KrUo4rer5tpdPrpO.
    Queen & David Bowie collaborated (that’s quite a story too) on this timeless masterpiece but never had a chance to perform it live before Freddie passed away. Here he sings most of both their parts and is assisted by the great Roger Taylor who also seems effortless executing the complex drumming which drives the song while also taking over Bowie’s part in the harmonies. Magic every time I see it.

    Knox!!! Finally, Finally, Finally someone (you!!!) hit every feeling, experience of this Queen performance!!! I’ve just about given up listening to people critique Queen (except for Amy on Virgin Rock), but you got it….you understood this song and performance from beginning to end. I’ve been listening to Queen since 1974 and have been to 2 concerts. You are the first person I’ve heard (other than myself) use the word PASSION to describe Freddie’s singing and the band’s playing. You might be too young to know the singer Aretha Franklin? She was an American soul singer and one of Freddie’s inspirations. This song was a silent dedication to her. Knox, you’ve made this 70 yr old rocker chick smile today. You should research about the 4 members of Queen. I think you’d find their lives are not your typical rock band people. I hope to see you do more Queen critiques in the near future ♥️ 🤘🏻
