Just gonna mention Malaysia's Sepang here 🇲🇾 eventho technically it's still very alive hosting motogp, Asian le mans, porsche carrera Cup etc. The track is still in the top game for top motorsports series but too bad not F1
Cause the government needs to invest a lot of money mate to hold the rights to host F1.. but even then not much Malaysian fans love F1.. tickets are expensive as hell and they rather watch superbike races than cars overtakes each other
It costs $20-$60M per year just for the rights to hold the race. Then its normally a 5 year deal at an ave of say $40m per year so before you start you've invested $200M then you have the costs of putting on the event and F1 essentially has to rely on hundreds of volunteers to host the race. F1 needs to do better. Imagine working for upto 4 days being in position from 9am to 6pm each day and not getting paid.
The volunteer system itself is shocking, you've got these drivers and teams on billion dollar contracts yet can't pay a few thousand staff for their time
Track shown at 0:20 was not Spa, it's Reims-Gueux. You can see the French flags flying on left side and the buildings still exist as shown on the straight.
2:10 Valencia was not good viewing on television. Don't know what it was like in reality, but it's not all about opportunities to overtake and accelerate, lap after lap of all those fences imprisoned the viewer.
They are clearly both sports but cricket has far more reach and participation globally. And in India it is pretty much the national sport and huge business.
@malthuswasrightand f1 does not have much more global reach as it’s not that much widespread especially in North America where na and eu f1 is much more popular
Played the old layout for Hockenheim on my first ever video game f1 98, never saw it again in any game, and barely remember watching it on TV either. But it existed.
I remember watching races on the old circuit. Seeing the "crazy" locals dancing on the track in the forest section during the race. Gladly didn't see any of them get hit by the cars driving near 200 mph along the road.
Fuji is used for World Endurance Championship. It is really pretty and they have a really cute fan aspect where before the race they take fans around on commuter buses.
19:25 AVUS (Automobil-Verkehrs- und Übungsstraße, automobile traffic and exercise road) always was part of the Autobahn. That's what the letter V (Verkehr, traffic) stands for. It was just blocked off for racing weekend. Since 1921, it is the first car-only road, the oldest motorway in the world and the first Autobahn ever.
That's because the track isn't abandoned. The promoters at the time could no longer afford F1's fee, so they turned to IndyCar. The Long Beach GP is the second-most prestigious race in the IndyCar calendar, second only to the Indy500. It just celebrated it's 50th anniversary last season.
F1 really missed out on Hanoi Vietnam. I've played it on the F1 2020 videogame, and it's fast and challenging. Lots of great overtake opportunities. One of my favorite tracks to play.
Mont Tremblant is a circuit that F1 raced at along with the iconic CanAm series. Yeah Lance Stroll owned it and the racetrack is profitable to this day but it is a very cool track
19:07 What about an actual historic F1 circuit like Zandvoort with sand dune corners of 18°? Despite as stated the FIA banned GPs at banked circuits "due to the danger and risk that came with them" not one F1 driver lost his life on the banking.
2007 Fuji “saw a crash that led to the end of Fernando Alonso’s championship campaign…..”??? He was ahead of Raikkonen going into the Brazilian Grand Prix!
Fuji Speedway is not abandoned, just not hosting F1 races like Nürburgring or Paul Ricard. As mentioned, the track is still actively used in many races and event, including F1 car testing. Due to recent bonding between Haas and Toyota, the circuit is becoming more used for F1 purposes.
Aida Circuit in Okayama Japan - (now renamed Okayama International Circuit) hosted 1994 and 1995 Pacific Grand Prix would be a good one for the next chapter of this series. There is going to be a next chapter, right? Right? RIGHT??
Speaking about Valencia, not using Circuit Ricardo Tormo is just the biggest mistake for a sport that utilizes way more automotive calculus than most other sport. The Ricardo Tormo is a beast track that would make great sharp turns. What a waste.
Hanoi was a fundamentally flawed design with not a single high-speed high-lateral-g corner. Sector 3 would have been a nightmare with its hard walls and no run-off areas, and all the cars forced to run low wing due to the long straights.
Thank all the racing gods that the FIA finally bumped the Japan GP to earlier in the year. How many drivers were killed in those monsoon races? Fuji could make a return in dry conditions; it's a great track.
Ah remember European GP
2009 : no single overtake recorded on track
2011 : no DNF
2012: One-time race winner takes out one-time driver's champion
@axm-004wasn’t 2012 a half decent race if I remember
The track shaped like a penyush Is the best
At least we got 2012.
@Dashcamuk2025 more really.
seeing guys race f1 back in the day with t shirts and goggles is crazy
Just gonna mention Malaysia's Sepang here 🇲🇾 eventho technically it's still very alive hosting motogp, Asian le mans, porsche carrera Cup etc. The track is still in the top game for top motorsports series but too bad not F1
Cause the government needs to invest a lot of money mate to hold the rights to host F1.. but even then not much Malaysian fans love F1.. tickets are expensive as hell and they rather watch superbike races than cars overtakes each other
Yeah, Sepang was a great circuit, but F1A is terribly expensive and we're draining more money than we can cope.
@ReconHeistXIthere's lot of fans here in malaysia...ofcourse motogp has more fans but its more affordable to the locals
still be on the list
Old Monza, Nürburgring Nordschleife (and Sudschleife), Brands Hatch... I'm betting there is plenty of material for future editions. Keep going!
Old Hockenheim aswell
kyalami too
Brooklands in the 50s... Ah, those were the days
Pescara
Dijon GP
You missed The Kyalami Grand Prix, where The South African Grand Prix used to be hosted.
This circuit is in plans to return
@martingaleana14932027 or 2028 according to google
It costs $20-$60M per year just for the rights to hold the race. Then its normally a 5 year deal at an ave of say $40m per year so before you start you've invested $200M then you have the costs of putting on the event and F1 essentially has to rely on hundreds of volunteers to host the race. F1 needs to do better. Imagine working for upto 4 days being in position from 9am to 6pm each day and not getting paid.
If they remove one zero on that cost maybe more countries would try to host F1 races
You also get a free ticket and are able to stand on the track for every race. Nfl chain gangs are all volunteers
The volunteer system itself is shocking, you've got these drivers and teams on billion dollar contracts yet can't pay a few thousand staff for their time
8:56 Ah yes. Denis Villeneuve. The famous F1 driver from the 70's and 80's, turned into a movie director
thank you, came here to say exactly that!
I know, right. Gille. Gille. GILLE VILLENEUVE, S'IL VOUS PLAIT
2:02 *red bull gives you wiiiings*
Track shown at 0:20 was not Spa, it's Reims-Gueux. You can see the French flags flying on left side and the buildings still exist as shown on the straight.
imagine they bring the avus circuit back
Hell no they would be missing 15 drivers by the end of the race
@PvPanda_013 he mean normal (standard) AVUS circuit used for DTM in 1990s
@Aris13GPalso Not possible because ITS Not existing anymore
@Aris13GPoh ok
@PvPanda_013 lol i didnt mean the death trap version of the circuit
2:10 Valencia was not good viewing on television. Don't know what it was like in reality, but it's not all about opportunities to overtake and accelerate, lap after lap of all those fences imprisoned the viewer.
Stayed in Fuji speedway hotel once and drive on the track, love it
where is the track in the thumbnail
Barcelona street GP from the 70's is a nice one as well!
Saying Cricket is more of a sport than Formula 1 is one of the wildest takes I’ve ever heard.
They are clearly both sports but cricket has far more reach and participation globally. And in India it is pretty much the national sport and huge business.
@malthuswasrightIndia isn’t the world it’s a eith of the population gdp wise its not even 1/10th
@malthuswasrightand f1 does not have much more global reach as it’s not that much widespread especially in North America where na and eu f1 is much more popular
@malthuswasrightand that is something I will never get my head around.
cricket is like the stupidest sport ever, and khangress fucked up everything as usual
Played the old layout for Hockenheim on my first ever video game f1 98, never saw it again in any game, and barely remember watching it on TV either. But it existed.
I remember that on N64. That was the best track to learn on, easy to memorize and only a few chicanes.
I remember watching races on the old circuit. Seeing the "crazy" locals dancing on the track in the forest section during the race. Gladly didn't see any of them get hit by the cars driving near 200 mph along the road.
One of the best tracks.
Yes. Great track.
Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in South Africa, hopefully it comes back
Didn't hear anything about Adelaide. I liked the track
Add Imola and probably spa to that list 😢
You totally forgot MOSPORT in Canada.
I liked the Valencia track in the games tbh
15:31 ICONIC MOMENT
Hockenheim had also cut off it's long northern course through the forest.
Fuji is used for World Endurance Championship. It is really pretty and they have a really cute fan aspect where before the race they take fans around on commuter buses.
The old Spa circuit and the old nürberg circuit were the bom, still wishing they were brought back to what they were...
as new F1 fan from India , i cant believe we actually had a great track that was well received among fans too but politics & gov ruined it 🥲🥲😭😭
Do not redeeeeem!!
politics ruin everything
poopjeet
@FireAttack0811 we get it , Seattle are on a good run , don't gotta be racist bout it 😐😐
@rustys.1070this racist nga🥀
That thumbnail though
Great Videos mate, (1st :) )
Driver 61🐐
imagine you just want to watch cars go fast and some politician says you must now go die for no reason
11:35 Ayo what is that flag in the top left corner
I see it too
It was the 30s. That used to be the actual national flag of Germany at the time, since a few years before WW2 even began.
16:05: That amount of rolling of the car seems extreme compared to today 😀
14:21 it’s in talks now that F1 could be back in later years
I would give anything to race on Valencia
Cornwall UK has davidstow circuit that was used between 1952 till 1954! First track that a lotus won a race!
Can you do the original Singapore grand prix (thomson circuit)
il n y a pas Magny-Cours ?
The Hockenheimring would be great🤩
As a F1 nerd, I shall point out, that in the beginning you used shots from reims-gueux Circuit while talking about Spa
I have driven on the old Cornish (UK) track.... the full lap is not stll there, but I have driven on what remains.
Nice video. Hope you make another one about Nürburgring and Nordschleife.
Denise villeneuve 😂
Like the video! Please add kyalami, south africa!
great video
Fuji Speedway will be forever immortalized by Atari's arcade game, Pole Position.
can you give details on the abandoned track in beirut ?
What about Clermont-Ferrand, Nürburgring, Brands Hatch ?
4:49 this is gangnam style so OPPAN GANGNAM STYLE
At 8:58, the narrator claims that the movie Director Denis Villeneuve crashed into Ronnie Peterson's car. Gilles Villeneuve maybe?
Yes
@starsgacha657Yeah, I went googling immediately wondering if I'd missed a cousin of Gilles over the years 😂.
@JS-rz5gx Funnily enough the director apparently IS a distant cousin of Gilles
Hanoi Vietnam ist the only course the F1 or any racing series ever raced on
where is malaysia, sepang circuit?
I knew something sounded weird. Denis Villeneuve made Dune. Gilles Villeneuve raced for Ferrari.
I miss Hockenheim. Dearly!
💓
Great track. High speed
First vid iv ever seen from you also watched this at 3:14 Am 9/15/2025 also ima sub
I see nothing said about the Long Beach Grand Prix that ran into the late 70's to the early 80's.
That's because the track isn't abandoned. The promoters at the time could no longer afford F1's fee, so they turned to IndyCar. The Long Beach GP is the second-most prestigious race in the IndyCar calendar, second only to the Indy500. It just celebrated it's 50th anniversary last season.

11:37 🤨 look at one of the flags in the top left
4:50 gangaaaaamamamaaaaamm
18:30 unrelated, but is that the Delta Wing?
What about Estoril Circuit?
Good vid
thumbnail looking like a mining disaster video
Bring back a second round in Australia. Adelaide for the last round. Everyone including the drivers loves the circuit. Start and finish in Oz
Why isn’t there the hockinhiemring in this video
It was one of the best f1 tracks
What do you mean by "lesser known series" at the Fuji segment at 10:57min
WEC hosts a race every year at fuji speedway
why every track tilke design always abandoned
Wonder if Hans Herrmann is any relation to Franz??
4:20 wait a min look at the poster
imola was added in...
Dennis Villeneuve? Dennis?
Gilles, it's Gilles.
Mont Tremblant is a circuit that F1 raced at along with the iconic CanAm series.
Yeah Lance Stroll owned it and the racetrack is profitable to this day but it is a very cool track
13:45, didn't explain what him being in the lead would do,
Cuba had an f1 track
just like how fans abandoned F1
19:07 What about an actual historic F1 circuit like Zandvoort with sand dune corners of 18°?
Despite as stated the FIA banned GPs at banked circuits "due to the danger and risk that came with them"
not one F1 driver lost his life on the banking.
Replace Barcelona, Las Vegas, Qatar and Bahrain with Adelaide, Buddh, Sepang and Kyalami.
Now do Brands Hatch and Zolder next.
And Donnington
Man, I enjoy the info but why can't you still play the engine sounds of each clip in the background? *sniff*
thank you
2007 Fuji “saw a crash that led to the end of Fernando Alonso’s championship campaign…..”??? He was ahead of Raikkonen going into the Brazilian Grand Prix!
Since when is Eau Rouge a straight?
Hmm... a Fernando Alonso win seems to be the death knell for a circuit.
Avus would be more exciting than monaco
Fuji Speedway is not abandoned, just not hosting F1 races like Nürburgring or Paul Ricard. As mentioned, the track is still actively used in many races and event, including F1 car testing.
Due to recent bonding between Haas and Toyota, the circuit is becoming more used for F1 purposes.

Paul Ricard?
Speaking about Valencia, not using Circuit Ricardo Tormo is just the biggest mistake for a sport that utilizes way more automotive calculus than most other sport. The Ricardo Tormo is a beast track that would make great sharp turns. What a waste.
It’s Gilles Villeneuve, not Denis 😅
if you do a part 2 of this, I hope you include tracks such as Monza with its oval, Rouen les Essarts, Kyalami, and all that
And Anders torp
Hanoi was a fundamentally flawed design with not a single high-speed high-lateral-g corner. Sector 3 would have been a nightmare with its hard walls and no run-off areas, and all the cars forced to run low wing due to the long straights.
you forgot the france gp
Buddh circuit hosts other races than F1.
Did Fuji dirty but saying lesser known series when the likes of superGT, super formula and even WEC race there year in year out
Walkins glen?
Avus is Legendary
probably better than spa or brazil tbh
@cheesewedgee tf are you on, Interlagos and Spa are the best circuit in the calendar
Spa leads to boring races.
Wait. Avus means grandfather?
@LemonKingdomOfficial Automobil Verkehrs und Übungs-Straße = Fancy german test track
how and why would you rip a formula track to PIECES
Those Tilkedromes are terrible. Turkey was good. I think Austin was designed by him too. But, that is it
No sepang?
Thank all the racing gods that the FIA finally bumped the Japan GP to earlier in the year.
How many drivers were killed in those
monsoon races?
Fuji could make a return in dry conditions; it's a
great track.
Some of these F1 tracks would work better as NASCAR or other high speed, less drag, racing series tracks
