Also worth noting that the devs do NOT take kindly to fan games or recreations, and tend to take legal action against modders.
i'm gonna code the among us s3x mod for the US dollar
I heard the devs temp banned a few people over that
yeah the devs are so concerned about their IP, but they should think more about the player base
whats up checkmark
its a multiplayer game, you're not supposed to mod unless on private servers
i hated the money update personally, hope they patch it out soon.
the devs need to give more power to the players and patch out the janky oppressive systems.

YES, COMMUNISM! Hello comrade! I couldn't agree more :)
@@chasel6-07 that's not what liberals believe, it's socialism
@@Lunar_Pendragon what are you, gay?
@@Lunar_Pendragon Communism is literally impossible though. The government can't decide the value of everything, we need a free market so people can decide the value through an extremely complicated system and several exchanges. Plus value of objects changes constantly depending on demand which the government can't decide.
You know, communism has always been tempting for those who are contemptuous of the economic hierarchy. That's how the USSR convinced all those people to rob the rich, which brought a famine to the country since the rich were generally those who harvested food for everyone. Then the government had full control which allowed for Stalin to kill 20+ million people.
Not only this, but how people will work without the government forcing them to is beyond me. And I imagine the government can make people work themselves to death since there is no clear limit on how much is each person's 'ability'.
gonna take down big currency with my new salt and barley startup
Let's do it together
My son for your goat. Truly top notch bartering
Another criticism I have of Money is the region locking. Like, why did Currency decide it would be a good idea to region-lock Money based on country? Each of the various releases are all essentially the same and yet now I need to spend MY time to purchase another type of Money with my Money whenever I travel?
I guess it's a smart way to sell more copies of Money, but I'm really worried this is going to be a slippery slope. What if they decide to take a page out of Pokémon's playbook next? Want a vulpix and a growlithe? Better get both Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. Want $? £? €? You guessed it...version exclusive Money.
I'm a big fan of Money, but it's sad to see the direction Currency is taking it. I really hope their next release doesn't have region locking, or worse.
Very true
this is true, thanks for mentioning this
whats up checkmark
Look, this Keynes developer tried to introduce an all-region Currency in the 1940's, but the other developers were just too lazy and just patched an existing currency in the USA region in its place, which meant international transaction all have to worry about whatever political struggles this USA region goes through. It's such a hassle, honestly.
You should buy the crypto currency add-on.
Here's some more lore: "Barter" was only used by people who were strangers. People who knew each other immediately moved on to "credit", a system of "i owe you one's" which is significantly less complicated than "barter" because it solved the annoying "double coincidence of wants".
Thank you! So many people believe in this myth and it annoys the hell out of me
What does “ double coincidence of wants“ mean?
@@alex.g7317 *looks up*
"an economic phenomenon where two parties each hold an item that the other wants, so they exchange these items directly without any monetary medium"
@@vizunalvarez883 oh, thanks! I understand now!
@@alex.g7317 Np dude, I was curious about the concept as well.
I feel like money itself is OK, I just wish the devs weren't total sellouts and didn't become a subsidiary of the International Banking (TM) publisher. That's where the severe drop in the quality of their products began.
Money: 8/10
“A little something for everyone”
-IGN
You are nitpicking and biased
I win
Bye bye
too much paper
Wait no, actually it's "a little something, for some people. 1% get a bunch, and a bunch of people don't get enough. 9/10, I would gladly sacrifice myself for the economy
“this video has the energy of an immortal who is cranky about the decline of physical coin”
Bring back my bronze coins
We must go back to trade and barter
Better yet, Return to monke
Barter never really existed. The whole thing is made up. The only times barter occurs in society naturally are when strangers meet, or in a society which previously had money but has suddenly lost it all for some reason. Before money, people acted in what is called a “gift economy” (leftists would know this concept as mutual aid).
@@malaizze so your telling me that people never once in history ever traded items with each other

When you’re so confused for the first minute then realize, the background music is ilmango’s intro ( 0:46)
1:26 for the exact clip
it was so weird cause I just watched one of his vids and I heard the bgm and was like wth its ilmangos intro
Money is just a patch that the influential players tricked the devs into thinking would be decent, but clearly those influential players are just using it as an infinite value glitch thats just ruining it for good honest players.
Mika is right, let's give him all our papers so he can burn it and end this charade
thank you for doing the reasonable thing

Mika I love your editing style so much it’s so damn cool to watch
Another interesting thing about money being used as the premier unit of exchange for goods and services is that money in and of itself becomes a unit of power. By nature we humans want to hoard power, but for an economy to stay healthy money needs to constantly circulate. Unfortunately this means that when some people get large amounts of money, they don’t want to lose the power it gives them so they only use that money to make more money for themselves and others in similar positions of power. This ends up having some unfortunate effects for everyone who doesn’t have excess money after buying essentials.
If we could eliminate or reduce the methods that people "use their money to make more money" a.k.a, making money from the labour of others directly or indirectly (hiring employees, renting, being able to control companies full of workers they'll never meet through massive investments, private banking, lobbying) then money may be a lot more desirable, at least in areas where scarcity exists and it makes sense. Almost like maybe people should be rewarded for their work and not for owning things or hiring people to work for them? Maybe the people who do the work could own their workplace together and all benefit from the profits? Elect their managers? Automation could reduce work hours or increase the wealth of all of us? A UBI could be implemented so that work no longer becomes a requirement for basic survival, giving average people more bargaining power?
POV: you invested in dogecoin
worse, SHIB.
personally i think it's weird that currency decided to make drop rates of money so low, i can't find much more than a few coins anywhere. but i did notice if i ask the bank for some money with a gun you get some. Just wish you could get money without everybody screaming all the time :/
Blue Shell is my favourite song of the year so far, for real, it's so good.
thanks dude :)

At one point, money was "backed" by gold. Essentially, we assigned an arbitrary numerical value to gold, then used paper to represent that.
Unfortunately the devs have been lacking in a new form of exchange. The current one is not only old af and getting boring, but it's also starting to show it's bugs as we progress.
Looking forward to update 2022.
The Bartering version is so much better, I actually refuse to update to the latest version

This Ilmango theme is throwing me off. Great video, keep it up.
It's amazing watching this as a Sleep Deprived enjoyer - Mika was making this while Schlatt rants about "the rentoids"
honestly i much prefer the money's predecessor the ducat as it at least had gold within it allowing it to be more real feeling, and it wasn't nearly as region locked as money, as even though the euro dlc did end up united the european seperate currencies into one simplified currency it still isn't as free as the ducat, since the ducat at least included the north African regions and most of the black sea and all of europe
Mika you always make these awesome videos of exceedingly high artistic merit.... I'll barter you a couple pens for your channel
this video came out on my birthday and I am ever so grateful for that :)

another mikasacus video, my day is made
Your channel is so underrated
These reviews actually make me question reality thanks mika
yeah my biggest problem with money has got to be the taste and design of the bills, (keep in mind I have yet to taste euros) US Dollars have terrible color choice and are overall a weirdly complex design for what should be a simple number. Not to mention that it doesn't taste good, not sure why more people aren't talking about this, but what if I wanted to eat my money?
Another excellent review from the legend himself: Mika "Decomikafication" Sacus.
I love this channel
Great review!

This gives the energy of an immortal who got bored and started doing whatever- it's absolutely perfect
the content got me like hmmmmm...
But by the time I noticed the songs were actual cumbia tunes I was on my 3rd jug of wine with soda.

Great news on the destructability front! Currency has developed a plastic money patch that makes money colourful and resistant to water elemental damage and tearing damage, but it hasn't been deployed to the US server yet.
Sadly this has removed some effort on the environmental side of the game, which is a shame really
Ocean's about to get plastic-bukakke'd again lmao
At around 3:39 when hes going through the random assignment of value to paper, I thought to myself "hey I should try that" thsn realized my idea is called Money Forgery and is frowned upon by currency
Here hoping the upcoming indie devs add the “socialism” mod expansion to the game, currency devs have been lacking and we need the community to make the new content

I understand your main issue with paper money, I agree that the american branch of currency has such a delicate note for seemingly no reason, but have you considered taking a look into the english branch of currency? They've recently released notes made of plastic that are fine with water and dont tear easily (they do melt however when in contact with flames so that's still an issue). It's the next step for currency and hopefully they share this product evolution with the rest of the world.
As an American, I'm intrigued, but has Currency done an environmental impact study to examine how plastic-coated notes will impact our already damaged ecosystem?
@@retractedhack yeah plastic notes do not sound like the move considering the global pollution fail state rapidly approaching.
Plastic Notes? You guys sure about that? Cuz the second they break or get damaged they're gonna get tossed into the fecking ocean or some landfill somewhere
The Ilmango music I love it

The worst thing about money in this current update is that debt nerfs it every time.
It hurts me that you don't have more subscribers
Love you
What software are you using ? (For your art not your editing) (both are awesome)
on the topic of how easy it is to destroy in the australian release they make it out of plastic which is nice and durable, doesnt get destroyed by water and doesnt rip
blue shell a banger fr
Mikasacus Your a clown and you play it well, and I LOVE IT
Thank you for letting me know that the acronym for Bank of America is BofA
People bash Currency a lot for not looking out for the little guy, but since the community hasn't found a way to solve its problems I don't know if we can say much. Currency only releases a new version of commerce when they feel the formula needs to be shaken up. Honestly, I can't see currency doing any heavy lifting until more QoL things are released that give a higher player baseline.
Players will probably get a better starting point when Technology releases more automation because of readily available work for item producers to use. Though if Technology's "automation" flops there'll probably be a lot of angry players. I don't think Technology will flop on this one since Technology has been around consistently for roughly two million years (with the release of sharpened rocks), and has only really seen success. Though you do have one or more of their "forgotten" releases.
Wow one of the first here sweet
Comrade Mikasacus
bartering was only done between enemies/strangers. It was not common amongst most people (as most people did not travel very far from town)
I personally liked bartering more, it was much simpler and made some actual sense. Hopefully they bring it back in some way.

No, the problem is not how much money are we putting in circulation (inflation is currently very manageable). The problem is *who decides where that new money goes.* (it gets stuck at the top for the most part)
Ilmango intro 🤔🤔🤔
big brother currency needs to rethink their business decisions.
Can we please talk about how that man uses ilmango's intro music. My brain is totally not okay with that
is that... is that the ilmango theme?
Yes yes it is my brain said the same
I’m pretty sure paper currency are just bank notes that have a certain amount of gold assigned to them. I think that’s part of why is illegal to destroy or write on money.
intersting
5:19 that is almost exclusive to America though (not the flammable part)
this update sucks
