Karen Brown Karen, when I was younger I certainly would agree, but I've seen more now. Some people are on pensions so unfortunately can't even afford that. When all they have is a small pension, especially if they also have an illness that requires medicine, some people have to sometimes give up regular meals in order to be able to pay basic bills to keep their homes, & even at that the money doesn't pay everything every month so they have to juggle bills. It sounds so drastic but you'd be surprised at how many people are living under these difficulties that you may pass everyday & not even know how difficult it is for them. Life is alot harder for some people than it was for me. Thank goodness for Oddy giving so much enjoyment to so many people.

Ooooh! A juicy Canadian mystery. I was just at that theatre last week, I have opening night season’s passes. His ghost still haunts the Grand, he has been seen in his box a number of times, and he apparently likes the ladies dressing room a LOT, he breathes on the necks of the supporting actresses, and slides their skirts up...lots of the actresses have felt him and reported it.
You did a wonderful job of his story, and so many great images! I love it, and you Sir are still the best. Light and love🖤🇨🇦

ObsoleteOddity just so you know...you really outdid yourself on “The Vampire of Düsseldorf...he was definitely a one of a kind equal opportunist. I have no idea where you find all those perfect visuals for these, but you had stuff there I had never seen before. A good half hour of you telling me about a monster from the past...who could ask for more. I really enjoy getting your uploads in two places, and I do go back and let you read me to sleep with Lovecraft’s “Witch House”, that was the only time you narrated a book to us without visuals...I listen to it when I have insomnia, and it actually helps, thought you might like to know.
Anyway, the new Patreon is amazing...one of your best yet. The extra effects were so natural in their placement I had to have a second look...and likely a couple more after that. Wherever you are providing your videos...I will be there it’s far too late for me now...I’m addicted to dark historical tales from ‘Oddie...and going junk shopping with him, sightseeing and poking about in abandoned buildings and hotels...there, I’ve said it, but please don’t let them try to cure my addiction, it would end badly.😏🖤🇨🇦

@@tamarrajames3590 - That's so kind of you Tamarra, I'm very happy you enjoyed my editing of that presentation. I will soon be announcing some small changes, as I'll probably be moving to a new channel - as RUclips has demonetised my whole channel two days ago, right before I had to travel to Geneva early next morning. I was/am so annoyed. I strongly suspect they did it as petty revenge because I commented on their creator channel in a video where they asked for feedback about what annoyed creators. I called them out. They have since deleted their own video because of the amount of negative feedback they received.
It's wonderful praise that my videos help you to relax, I love to hear that :)

I think his assistant at least knew something about it. It seems he knew he was out of a job and took a new one and probably took the bonds because the opportunity was there. He knew his boss wasn't coming back and there was the possibility no one would notice. I wonder who did know about the bonds? His wife might have had someone kill him, but the assistant certainly knew his boss wasn't coming back. Maybe he arranged it for her and the bonds were his payment. That's why I wondered who discovered the bonds missing. If it was payment to him, she certainly wouldn't have said anything. Another good one Oddie. These videos are always so great. I love it when I see there's a new one.

Personally, I think the secretary had a large part in his murder/disappearance. It just seems too coincidental that the secretary stole from him the same day he disappeared, and he went on the run when things heated up. At the very least, he knew something. But I think it’s more than likely that he was involved.

When I do check the guide, there end up being nothing good to watch. RUclips allows me to watch anything I want, anytime I want. My TVs collect mostly dust. My husband watches HIS TV, but that’s about it. I love your videos, however, I do not watch the ones with hauntings and ghosts. Don’t like them. But your other videos are considered lessons in history. Thank you for your skill and special effects. Of all historical videos yours are far the very best. I’m always looking for more. I have never subscribed to any channel, but I will with yours. I love how you narrate. You are awesome. Don’t quit and don’t stop reading your texts. It helps to keep up with the stories without having to keep my eyes glued to the screen, otherwise, I might as well read a history book.

I love this one! Definitely going to watch again tonight ( I should have saved it, but it’s not a crime to watch several times! ). I love the details in the video and the mystery of the story. Gold content, I feel spoiled again! Looking forward to the next! The end, omg! Lol! Thanks for the laugh, too! Love xx

I love these stories, ObsoleteOddity. I've just discovered this channel this past week. I've been watching a couple of episodes in my bed before dozing off to sleep. The stories are all so well done and the way you present them, so unique. The music is great, visuals are amazing,...and love to read along with the story that you tell. I haven't read through your comments, so I don't know if others appreciate your talent as much as I do. Also,...love the creepy factor of each story! I would have never known about these people in your stories and each one is fascinating!

I'm going to be posting on RUclips selected previously locked Patreon videos that are approximately 1.5 (one and a half) years old. They are early Patreon videos and not of the same quality or length of the videos I'm producing now on Patreon or RUclips. This is one of them :) Many, many thanks to my patrons on Patreon for enabling me to keep going - bless you all. Some of the topics discussed on the 'blah blah' towards the end of video, because of the upload date, may no longer be relevant.
Later videos are more graphic in content, and will most certainly be demonetised by RUclips; nevertheless, thanks to my loyal Patreon patrons, I will eventually post them here too despite RUclips's advertiser friendly policy.
Link to my Patreon page and other sites under the description :)

I think it took his wife two weeks to report him missing because he was never around. Some would say she used the time to hide his body. Maybe. I bet that if a century old building is torn down in Toronto, his body would be found in the cement foundation, right next to Jimmy Hoffa. 😆. Niffy

Thank you for doing a Canadian story being that I am Canadian. I live in Medicine Hat, Alberta. I love hearing these stories of the late 1800's and early 1900's. I always try to imagine being a person living in one of your stories thinking how I would be dressed, where and how I lived etc.. Please keep doing these stories you have perfect timing and greatest voice for it.

As usual, your videos are most charming.
I have followed the Small case for years and have concluded that in fact, his wife had him killed. It is believed by some that the body was buried in the Rosedale Ravine. Her close connections with the Toronto police, politicians and being a member of the 1% meant that she was never charged.

WOW..Most intriguing Oddie, Yes Money is the root to all evil...It was so easy back then to make someone disappear, the perfect crime as they say. I was picturing his remains chained under water or something, then you spoke of his sister ending up in a watery grave from a horrible accident. You can't help but think John Doughty was responsible, after all, he was the last to see him alive and went in to take bonds as if knowing Ambrose was unable to say anything at the time, maybe not in it alone, perhaps with someone else, but he sure was brazen to just help himself to Ambrose's money.....THANKS for the share Oddie, I do love a good mystery :-)

    • @roberthpilesund384
      @roberthpilesund384 5 лет назад +2

John Doughty seems unlikely to just suddenly after all years murder his boss, but if there was any shady meetings going on he would probably know the date and time of them , if not place - if his boss then never returned from a meeting like that, those bonds might look like easy pickings ?

His sisters might have something to do with his disappearance. His wife is rich so his money wouldnt concern her even a bit. But his sisters seem to be money hungry people and even slander the late wife after her death for his money. I wont be surprise since money can change anyone even your own family into strangers.
    Awesome video😎

Thank you Odie wishing I could afford Patreon. Your stories, voice, video style are the best. I don't subscribe to others who do what you do as are trying to be creepy, repetitive pix or none at all! Love your awesome use of vintage pics to place what looked like back then.
This Ambrose guy pretty much everyone back then believed she did it. He wouldn't need her now for an inheritance but they thought she may have felt was owed for putting up with the public humiliation of his indiscretions, his tight fistedness in regards to money & his poor behavior towards her generally. Today we would possibly call him psychologically abusive.
She lived under a cloud till she died & I think if I'd been her I would have a few years after the incident moved to Europe. The war was over & at least they're more discreet in their gossip at the time. It wouldn't surprise me if she didn't have him killed or someone in her family did it to free her.
