The MXR Tremolo is a collection of 6 classic tremolo styles, from the swing of Bias tremolo to syrupy Harmonic to hard chopped Square wave. Taking a page from the original MXR M159 stereo panning tremolo, the new M305 offers true stereo In/Out (TRS) or mono on every mode with simple Rate and Depth plus a Gain to overcome any perceived volume drop. Powerful features such as expression pedal control let you adjust any parameter for ramping effects, dynamic depth or even volume swells. Plus, you can sync up with your music with tap tempo or dive into Envelope mode which constantly alters the tremolo rate based on your picking dynamics and signal strength of other pedals.
The layout is similar to the MXR Reverb, with a multi-function Gain knob that boosts the output volume when turned and cycles through modes when pressed. Plus, the MXR M305 Stereo Tremolo can be setup for true bypass or buffered for easy integration with any rig.

If MXR would combine this with their reverb pedal in a single box, they would have a Flint killer.
I love their reverb!
So true!
That could be the best mxr pedal in a long time
Instant buy and stay!
oh man that's a good idea....I already have the MXR Reverb though and it's amazing, just ordered this tremolo too.
When Andy plays and smiles (that smile of complete satisfaction), you know he's enjoying his job. I thinks that's why we all wish we could be Andy.
I don’t care what he’s demoing, I
just like to hear Andy play!
Really cool sounding tremolo, MXR always bring out solid products
Seems like the only tremolo I will need, it does all the things.
Andy. Dude. You rock - you've always rocked! Thanks for all the awesome demos, from the first PGS to today.
MXR has been putting out some interesting stuff lately, great demo Andy!
Particularly enjoyable, Andy. Boss stereo PN-1 was my first pedal, so this Dunlop makes my heart leap.
Thanks for this- I've had one for a few months and LOVE it but hadn't realized I could adjust envelope sensitivity behind an overdrive. Super helpful
Thanks for always giving detailed, playable examples. This pedal has so many variables and you do a great job of showing how to use it.
I got one for a Xmas gift and it is one potent tremolo! Thanks for the demo Andy because you showed me how to make all the features work.
I’m glad I could help! Yeah, there are some really cool features that don’t immediately jump out, like the volume/trem swells 👍🏻
Andy, you're the man! I didn't realize I needed to practice my foot skills with pedal knobs, but here we go
If one person learns about Link Wray from this demo...pedal sounds pretty good, too.
This is how I feel about so many of Andy’s demos. - he plays excellent songs that are a great example of how the pedal can be used.
@@ryanatkinson8067 Andy seems to listen and hear. Not a lot of that in the news, lately. 🙈
Andy loves what he does, always feeds his creative juices .he’s here for our enjoyment
Check out his Polydor releases in the 1970's.
Ok, thanks Andy, just ordered one on Reverb, and here I just got a Jam Pedals Harmonious Monk. The stereo panning via headphones got me.
Thanks Andy! As always, you and Pete Thorn do the best pedal demos. Best tremolo pedals are the Tremotron (also demo'ed by you) and MXR's. Just great sounds.
Yet another great demo, Andy!
Man, I was initially really surprised when I saw the video for this pedal was 20 minutes long, but having watched it I totally understand why.
This is such an impressive blend between complexity and simplicity! A massive array of sounds and features, yet such a basic, easy to use layout.
What a beast!
I definitely wasn’t shooting for 20 minutes haha, but yes this one is deeper than it looks! I’m glad you found your way through the whole vid. Thanks!
@@AndyDemos Ha ha, oh I know what that's like. My videos always end up longer than I intended.
I was always going to watch this whole demo, as trem is my favourite effect.
My current tremolo is the Swindler Effects Red Mountain V2.
You should check them out if you haven't already!
Take care, Andy!
@@PedalExperiments I will look at it, thanks 👍🏻
Andy is my go to for pedal demos. He is truly a master and getting the most out of a pedal to help us mere mortals improve not only our tone but playing. Thanks for such great content!!
Whoa! You played an entire awesome version of Link Wray's "Rumble" AND gave us some Bo Diddley sounds!?! You're too good to us, Andy. I'm not sure if we deserve you. Amazing review, as always! Thanks, man.
Nice. Great demo. This pedal definitely added to my want list.
14:00 the demo of stereo harmonic trem was great. I played a Magnatone panoramic a few years back and loved that sound but didn’t want to sell/trade what I had to get there. Being able to get in the ballpark for $160 seems great!
The only trem you'd need. With all the sonic options and ways to control the trem, I can't find a better one.
That Hamstead Artist 60... Such a great clean tone!
Absolutely love this pedal! It pairs amazing with my MXR Reverb and pretty much any other pedal 🙌
Reverb before or after trem?
@@andrewsmall4865 Personally I run tremolo into reverb as I 90% of the time I use it in envelope mode, that’s just me. I found this video useful... ruclips.net/video/oEm-6lxSHfA/видео.html
@@andrewsmall4865 whatever ya like
Harmonic all day!!🔥
Great playing
Awesome gadget! Love the music. :)
Only 29.6 subs? Andy is on of the best players one youtube in my opinion.
As the face of ProGuitarShopDemos he had 311K subs.
I agree with the sentiment, though
When Pgs was sold to Reverb their subs went up by 100,000. Andy is a real asset on Reverb still. Andydemos allows him total content control and freedom. Spread the word on all platforms Andydemos on the tubbers. ❤️😎
How do we fans push his subs to 100,000. Anyone have a way?
@@edadpops1709 Just mentioning him (in context, when relevant, not spamming) in comments on other popular guitar channels.
Andy.you are the best!!thanks!!
Great to hear the name Bo Diddley still being said. I met the man when I was in high school, and he was one hell of a good guy.
God, I love Link Wray. Also, I love it when you play RHCP classics. Thanks again for your advice with the optical compressors.
super useful COMPREHENSIVE demo thx
Great as always.
Keep it up man. Great playing.
Thank you! 👊
Cool real-time trick!
Ah some light backround music like PGS did. Love it
You are a great player man
11:40 IS WHY i invested in this tool of the gods
Holy shit, was just starting to look fo a harmonic trem to add to my rig, but this thing does everything! Stereo, envelope, expression, and a small footprint? Count me in on this one.
I am currently using a Boss PN-2 and two amps with hi-lo e.q. to emulate Harmonic Trem, with this I can have tap tempo. Of course if I was actually a musician I might just use a pedal for that.
I can vouch for this pedal it’s amazing! If you’re after purely harmonic tremolo have you seen the Harmonious Monk by Jam Pedals?
Sounds great
Those Frailins sound sweet in the Redtail strat
I kept looking but didn't see a strat, till 3 minutes in
How !!! I'm quite sure Link Wray would approve ! Big Time !!
Usually I get GAS by watching Andy demo gear, this time I had a GAS crisis on my own and Andy's video makes me feel a little less better about myself. 🤡 What an interesting pedal, can't wait for mine to arrive. And awesome demo ! I didn't know about the envelope mode, wondering if really practical or more like a gimmick... Not like the pedal actually needs it to be awesome.
Great playing, awesome sounds! This pedal has a serious set of features!
Sadly there's no tap tempo switch on top to use tap tempo AND expression pedal at the same time
*adds to list*
I lovew this thing!
I was excited to see this as a smaller alternative to my M159 (and an alternative that didn’t need 18v). I’m disappointed that it is tricky to switch in and out of panning mode.
Man harmonic tremolo is just the best modulation ever, hope this one is available on amazon soon
available now on Reverb 😉
@@rikkousa you should boycott amazon for its HORRIFIC workers conditions and the fact that jeff bezos could give EVERYONE in america a $2,000 check and STILL be richer than he was BEFORE covid -19 pandemic hit. your priorities are fucking backwards. but if you support trump i'm not surprised your priorities are up the creek
@@rikkousa Man, I stopped using Amazon the day that they opened the door. I just did the math and decided that MY dollars could at least do another lap around town, even if I alone couldn't save local retail. Kids used to have jobs waiting after school, but we got algorithms for that.

I simply love the way you put a personal spin on Rumble here. It's really 'Andy' while staying true to the original über-cool vibe of the piece. Fantastic work, man!
(Edit: It's nice to hear some acoustic on there, too. Cool textural addition!)
It wouldn’t have been possible without your help! Thanks, I immediately realized it’s important to not overplay this tune. Even Wray’s fuzzed out live versions were very sparse in playing. And the acoustic was a little nod to the original, it’s very low in the mix but adds that final touch 🤘
Found this pedal couple hours ago and was wondering how it would sound!
I'd be super excited about this pedal if I wouldn't already have a great Bias tremolo in my Origin Effects RevivalTrem and vibrato in my Magma57, as well as tube tremolo in my Suhr Hombre. I love the versatility of this pedal... Andy's playing sure helps to make it shine.
Considering the Revival Trem. Thoughts? Worth the cash?
@@petesciarabba4367 absolutely worth every penny.
@@nilsx3020 thanks! Was trying to talk myself out of it, lol. The demos sound incredible.
Superbbbbbbbb!
The flame on that Les Paul tho..
So greezy; just the way we likes it!
This trem is ready to Rumble 🤣😂
Oh that envelope trem for playing Radiohead “Bones”...
Back in my day we had to bend down and tweak the rate manually, dang it!
@@dancehallc Is that why the album is called The Bends? (I'll grab my coat...)
@@dancehallc But that was one thing that made Radiohead cool. All the tweaking on the fly..
The pedal is nice but that Club King is soooooooo nice
Great demo, thanks! Good pedal but wish it had presets.
Well, I was pretty much sold by the homage to the color of my old, busted trem. But now I am wondering if I can rig my EP-103 and a Morley Hum Eliminator to sync them both from a single tap switch. Might be useful for my rig, ymmv.
Andy the God.
Andy, how long have you wanted to “Molly Hatchet” that Rumble riff?!😂😂😂 Sounds amazing, as always…
I don’t really know about Molly Hatchet but this is the badass version I was inspired by…ruclips.net/video/KFCpUZVyXgg/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Rumble !!! 🤘🤘
Sorry to hit it twice, but rotovibe style pedals always either sound like they are spinning around your head, or THRU it. This may be the best “Thru the head” sound I’ve heard.
Trem sounds so cool, but after a while it feels like the sonic equivalent of staring at a strobe light for too long
I love using enveloped bias tremolo for this reason! It's a lot more subtle and organic
How's the Harmonic mode on this compared to the Supro Trem?
Me: Nice pedal, but I don’t need all those feat.. *stereo kicks in* 👀.. I need this!
Yes, stereo is a whole different world! Maybe not always practical but makes a huge difference on recording 👍🏻
I’ve been looking for a gig-FX chopper pedal but thinking that this can get very close (and more) with an expression pedal? Thoughts?
11:33 inicia demo stereo 👌
Rumble on, dude!
So mxr mode is triangle, bias is sine, and revo is reverse sawtooth / repeat percussion, correct?
Curious: is this pedal analog? Or analog w/digital control? Great stuff, Andy, as always!
This one is digital, like the MXR Reverb.
@@AndyDemos thanks so much-seems like a total no-brainer, considering how many options and features it has.
Opened with the song Death Grips sampled on "Spread Eagle Cross The Block", amazing
You mean opening with Link Wray is amazing.
Great performance Andy as always. By the way, what would you choose? The Boss Tremolo or the MXR Tremolo?
Thanks so much! As for the Trems, they have different applications. If you just want a simple analog tremolo the Boss is great! Since the MXR is digital you get more options and modes which I find much more useful. Just let your ears decide in the end, you can’t go wrong!
small and smart, but I would always go for an analogue tremolo if I can
Great demo as usual . Andy you seem to like reverend guitars - are they worth it - I’ve been thinking of getting one for a while . Thanks .
Absolutely, it has been very reliable! I love the feel of their necks and the tones they offer.
@@AndyDemos thanks for the response
If possible, could you please demo the EHX Eddy?
Maybe one day EHX will work with my channel but no immediate plans. I like the envelope chorus on that one👍🏻
Is Volume expression work even pedal is off? that will be killer.
Andy could plug in a piece of burnt toast and make it sound good
Jimmy page approves
hows that Neil Young looking Les Paul on the wall!!!
this pedal puts my TR -2 to sleep, I may need an upgrade
It would be an excellent upgrade for sure and I don’t think any other trem comes close in that price range too. Thanks for watching!
@@AndyDemos yeah the " price is right " for sure. Btw - thanks for the demo of the Nautila a few years ago, bought it right after I saw that demo. Had me with the Public Image track. I call it my Andy Summers / Robert Smith in a box pedal. Keep up the great work !
Good sounding pedal BUT doesn’t output two signals when bypassed - so if you’re running a stereo chain it’s quite silly + the on/off switch pops on mine… So let’s just say I have to work around these flaws, and it’s a little annoying when you bought it new and were expecting baseline things. Sounds pretty cool though, part of why I’d like to keep it.
WHAT IS IT WHERE IS IT HOW WILL IT AFFECT ME
This pedal is pretty HARD.. as is Andy’s guitar playing!
He certainly makes me hard.
Is panning effect the same as rotary effect?
That's a good question! The short answer is that Panning is just moving the signal from left to right channels/amps. Rotary may involve panning (since a rotating Leslie speaker is often mic'd in stereo on either side) but you also hear a pitch change known as the Doppler effect. The same effect you hear when an ambulance siren pitches up as it heads towards you and pitches down when it travels away from you. Since there's pitch involved, it often sounds like a chorus when slow and vibrato when fast. Hope that helps you!
When playing in a band, how crucial is it that your tremolo rate is synched up with the drummer/rest of the group?
(I’m assuming this is not a rhetorical question.). It really depends. If it’s lazy tremolo for texture, which is most of the time on recordings I’ve heard, it shouldn’t sync. But if it’s a choppy rhythm part that is part of the rhythm bed, then it needs to. But that’s far rarer. E.g. “How Soon Is Now”, but even there, I think once you get out of the intro, it starts slipping relative to the drums and still sounds fantastic. But I think I read somewhere that the Smiths did a bunch of edits to keep dropping in to get the tremolo back in sync at various points in the song.
@@rasm0225 it was a serious an earnest question. thanks for the insightful answer.
It might be hard for the whole band (live performance) to stay in rhythm with a pronounced choppy tremolo throughout an entire song, I guess, but it might work if everyone, especially the drummer locked in on it, I guess 🤔
Has the G&L been replaced by yet another Redtail? When is your dad going to throw up a Reverb shop?
I’ve had that Redtail for about 15yrs, I wanted to go old school and those pickups are Fralin Vintage Hots👍🏻
I love tremolos but they can be harsh .... the full video is extenuating
rawkin
Will you join my band?
Rumble!
I never understood why pedal manufacturers make stereo pedals with a single input. Are they not aware that a player going through two amps may want more than one stereo pedal? Not exactly possible if you're splitting mono for every pedal. At least have the option to input L&R. Missed another sale here MXR
This pedal can do stereo in/out. Check the manual for using a TRS cable and internal switch for stereo.
@@AndyDemos Excuse my ignorance, and I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question. But wouldn't combining the grounds via TRS cable be introducing ground loop noise? I'm shying away from single input pedals for this reason. My ABY is isolated. Running back into a TRS defeats that purpose, no?
Is the MXR FOD a rebranded Dookie pedal?
Pretty much yes
@@rob28781 Thanks.
This guy could make a piece of turd with six strings on it sound good
Your tone, with both the single coils and LP, seems a little to trebly/harsh, don't you think?
Who needs tap tempo. Just use your trainers .
Andy brother do you own other shoes? Let’s get Andy shoes.
I have three pair of identical boots so I can rotate them and air dry the things. You might think that I only had the one pair. Stole the idea from Einstein, but the airing thing might get the shoes to outlive me.
No need
don't be fooled, just use your volume knob REALLY QUICKLY - you don't need this pedal!!
Why work so hard?
Yep and tone knob at the same time to get the harmonic trem.
It has milion and one functions, but none of these sounds pleasing to me. With competition like Walrus Monument, Supro Trem or Jam Pedals Harmonious Monk, MXR should try better 🤷.
I actually got a little lost with the menu scrolling functions, but I also have trouble with the clock on the stove, I think the pros are going to figure it out. I think it sounds good, but I think my Boss Trem is extremely adequate too, ymmv.
I use a Subdecay Vagabond, as it just had the sweet Harmonjc Trem I wanted, with a Bias option as well, and an Envelope Attack control.
All analog too. The MXR is great for the price, but I would get the Source Audio Vertigo if I was to go digital for that price range.
