Monica was funny because she was so insane about different things like cleaning, organising etc. Rachel had her moments but the writers never really made her very funny and I think that was a good move! :)

I know this comment is 6 years old but so true. They have the perfect chemistry WITH each other. One character is only great in the way they interact off the other ones. It's like a perfect recipe. If you like the food of the recipe, you don't want to eat just the one ingredient. It's like how no one just eats a big bowl or sugar or a bowl of cinnamon.
