Agree! Great presentation! Love the way you speak, makes me happy! I have the pattern and fabric for this dress so it was very timely viewing. Hope to see more of you. Love your hair btw x
Wish I had followed your way, the correct way!!!! I serged my edges first and lost some of my markings and then had to get the pattern pieces out all over again duh. You are accurate and skilled and a cheerful sweet-natured teacher. Now I have finished my wearable toile (from a charity shop quilt cover) I am going to be happy to invest in some beautiful Minerva fabric just like yours.
Thanks so much for this demo. I have this pattern and made the long, sleeveless dress several years ago in a too-stiff fabric so I haven’t worn it much, but I did like it. I’d forgotten about it until I saw your video and I had also forgotten that the pattern has SLEEVES so I will definitely try it again in a different fabric (now I’m more experienced) and with lovely sleeves too! Thanks again!
Great presentation. I would recommend removing pins before sewing as it’s safer. ( speaking from experience 😢) I also find it’s a great idea to press the sleeve hem in before sewing as it makes it much easier. Looking forward to your next sewalong maybe without the music?
Why not try your hand a heavier crepe fabric? That will provide body as well as some drape, it also feels amazing on the skin! You can find it here: www.minerva.com/mp/1198576/minerva-core-range-heavy-triple-crepe-fabric-aubergine&variant=1169852
Overlocking seams together is generally a little more secure but you don't always want the bulk this creates on one side. Overlocking the seams open spreads out the bulk and ensures the garment sits a bit flatter
A very clear instruction video. I’m impressed as everything was explained as I would have learned some 55 years ago! Well done
Best sew along. Clear and easy to understand without all the extra gab! Thank you for making it smoother for me to complete this pattern.😊
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent sewalong, every step clearly explained and for a total beginner like myself it inspired confidence. Thanks

Thank you Jan for your feedback!
Laura when are you going to have another sew along? Do you have your own you tube channel?
great video, I made this in a cotton fabric but it's stiff. What fabric will have enough body and still give me some drape?

How do I find more videos by Laura?
Just curious. Why do you overlock some seam open and others closed, the two edges together?
Overlocking seams together is generally a little more secure but you don't always want the bulk this creates on one side. Overlocking the seams open spreads out the bulk and ensures the garment sits a bit flatter
