By the end of the vid, your a pro,, arm out the window resting on the brake. I'd be, right, wheres my brew and the ashtray !! Love the chaos in the 26 lol. 😀👍
Nice video! £25 well spent, eh? I drove a 47 at the Wensleydale Railway recently and it was probably the best thing I've ever done in my life. Hope to drive a few more types in the coming months.
Nice driving, James. I think you got the hang of it better than me. When I drove I went from notch 1 to off too quickly when slowing down which isn't a good idea apparently (judging by the face the driver made !). I would have thought there would be some kind of interlock to prevent this if it has the potential to cause damage to the loco. I'll know next time Ronnie
lol! Yes they all do that. You can do it in modern loco's like class 66's, 67's, 43's and DMU/EMUs etc as they have technology to do that. Was I speaking to you then, I can't remember if you were the one who said about putting their attempt on RUclips
A few preserved railways do these. Some you can have a day with a diesel for around £300 or some diesel galas like this one will have driver for a fiver or a tenner, you hand over £5 or £10 and as above you can have a short run at driving one
yes no one shows the cooker on the deltics in 1955 it was the wonder for second man to cook in the on the goI was on 10000-10101 10201 10202 and the deltic. Bletchley to Euston on steam we did one trip and back as passenger on deltic we did 2 trips to Euston and back in 8hours and got millage pay for it what a change

It’s nice to see that you just have to drive all the time James Underwood
A Hymek drive for me one day hopefully.

The only loco I have driven was a V63 / 630 / Gigant, a 12,000 hp Co-Co electric loco in Hungary at 100 kmh / 62 mph !
Nice. I enjoyed watching that.. subbed
(Opens the throttle on the 37)
Oh my, are we supposed to rocket off from the station?
Brilliant first video. I would like to drive a 47, a 73 and the re-engineered Ultra 73 for comparison (not much chance of that I suppose).
Speed pick up on the 37 pretty good for a 60yo lady...
Fantastic
I love the sound from the old Sulzer Engines
