Don't be too hard on yourself, you're doing great work! The art content was good for this video, even if you're finding it hard to get back into the swing of things. A lot of people can relate (like myself), and sometimes it's just nice to see other people's process and how they try to work through it, whether it's successful or not.
Just getting to catch up a little bit. So good that you’re really back! Happy especially for art-making - both seeing stuff in process and hearing it talked about. Thank you for being here Holly.
Tom’s grandad has an amazing collection of fossils that he’s found. Their house looks a bit like a museum it’s so cool. He’s given lots of his fossils to museums too. I really liked your painting of the trilobite, I love how you always see so many colours.
This cardboard corner thing is BLOWING MY MIND over here!!!! I'm always torn between a drawing paper sketchbook and a watercolor one - I hadn't thought about doing watercolors on loose paper and then putting them in my drawing sketchbook with little corners! Thank you!!
It's great to see how something spontaneous can inspire you, and that you can act on that inspiration to record the event. I really enjoy this video of a snip of progress with a theme. Thank you, Holly, for continuing to create.
It's always nice to take us with you on your creative journey , also inspiring to hear about your process and what you think and how you go along with your designs , it's also interesting to see which topic you choose to draw and how your interest for this was 'born' . The illustrations look beautiful . Ohh and cuty dogs are so adorable and so dear to us , thanks for sharing and wish you lots of joy in creating .
Yay, another video! I love your hair in this video. ❤ And I love how something different but still good came out of the museum trip. There are good things everywhere when we look for them. I love the iron hardness of the gray paint in your painting. 🤩
I really liked this video and how you got inspired to try a different subject when the bugs weren't good in the museum. It's a lesson that you really can just sketch anything and make good art out of it. Love the doggie content too - Quentin is sooo adorable 😍
I really enjoyed watching you in your creative process. I'm not such a fan of all the creatures that inspires you in this phase 😅 but I love to see you painting, is so relaxing. Thank you for sharing.
I love your videos and the work you put into them. It's nice to see you doing personal work again. Your style is fantastic, and when you shop is opened, I'm up for buying another piece of your work. Your bug series is impressive. Me and my youngest and I also called Holly love your art work.❤❤❤
Hi Holly. Your video is relaxing and inspiring. You don't always have to do a masterpiece or go through a really hard process to get to somethings "worthy". I admire your intentions to work even if you feel confused. Just get to your paper and utensils and the inspiration will come somehow. Be proud of every little step you make (I am telling that to myself) I love your sketchbook, by the way. 🎨🖌️Good luck with all your endeavours! 🤞🏻🍀
watching the style with which you painted the drawings, I found it interesting how natural (more towards realistic) the effect was. maybe because of the artists I've observed more recently I was associating watercolor with more impressionistic or more abstract work. but it was a good reminder to me that watercolor can also be relatively realistic. thought your subject matter was really great. nice texture and lighting effects...
Thanks for the video, Holly! It's inspiring to me to just dive into a sketchbook and worry less about what I'm doing - easier said than done 😊 but thus has helped! Have a great weekend x
hi Holly, it is so lovely to see you working on new art again. These are my favourite videos for sure. May I ask which vlog camera you are using or would recommend?
Thank you. I have a Sony ZV-1 and I really like it. Very easy. The two downsides I've found are that the battery runs out quite quickly, and the inbuilt microphone isn't very good. But I worked around that by getting an external mic, and buying extra batteries (which weren't too expensive either)
Hi Holly, wanted to ask as our intention is to travel in a motorhome with our 3 dogs. You've been abroad and the temperatures must have been high so how did your dogs cope with the heat in your van? I've researched but cant find anything on laws leaving dogs in motorhomes. Any advice please. How did you first get interested in trilobites? Is it a subject that suits your van life? So good to see you back and your also lunch was yummy, been vegan for nearly 2 years now, even had a vegan tatoo at 62! Thank you for a look through a window into your van life.
Hello - we only go abroad in the winter so it's not hot - and in the summer we are planning to stick with Scotland where it's cooler. We worry a lot about our dogs overheating, especially now they're older, so I'd rather be somewhere cold than hot. :)

The banner definitely brings it all together
I thought so too.

His house sounds like a treasure trove! Thanks Emma :)

Haha, glad to be able to share this trick with you Jenny :)

So glad you enjoyed this one!
It's just great to see you back. You look very content. Wishing yourself, Craig and the hairy hounds well. X

Aw thank you. Quentin says hi!
Love the postcards in the sketchbook idea! I have a pad of postcard paper but never knew what to do with them. Now I know 😊
Go for it! I find the postcard format quite fun :)
Oh this is great, love to see you paint again…….👌🏼🙌🏼
More to come!

Thanks for your honesty 😄
I've been to bristol quite a few times but never thought to check out the museum, I'll have to visit next time ❤
Hope you enjoy it, definitely worth a visit, it's free entry too :)

Thank you Joy! I didn't know you had a child called Holly, great choice ;)
Loved all three pieces! Not knowing what we're doing is always agonizing but usually if we keep at it things come around 😊

LOVE your bug paintings! And these sketchbook pages
Thank you Katrina :)
I actually love this video, good to see your art again.
Thank you Amanda, glad you enjoyed :)
Thanks Holly, this was really inspiring. And very chill. I needed that. x
You're so welcome!
Just found you so excited to get to know you more ❤ I love that you get out and draw from life. The sketchbook looks amazing ❤
Great video! I've also been going through a bug-painting phase! Beetles are such AMAZING colours, I'm obsessed.
They are! Endless colour ways and patterns and textures to study - the bug world provides so much inspiration :)

Thank you Louise! I'd probably worry less without the audience 😁 I'll keep trying
Love the collaging and so nice to see more of your painting! ❤The tiredness from museum sketching is so real - I always end up with terrible posture 🤣
Yep! It's bad isn't it! I needed to be more prepared, with more supportive shoes etc 👵🏻
I love your use of colour!! 🥰 (first painting you did)
Thank you! 😊
Was gonna say those are some creepy crawlies but you made them look more cute than creepy! I feel kinda inspired to go museum drawing now 😊
Me too! So many museums here but there is a big COVID outbreak too.
I want some creepy crawling stickers from Etsy! Hopefully I can grab an original to go with the few I have already.
That would be cool! Really shiny bug stickers I can see it now!

Love your work it’s amazing , please can I ask what brushes you use 👍😀❤
Thank you so much 😀 I use Pro Arte prolene plus synthetic watercolour brushes from Jacksons Art
