@@msokes9what are some of the issues? I was about to comment that the powertrain is pretty reliable because many vehicles use the same 3.0 V6 and the same 10-speed transmission.
@ my vehicle was a buyback from Ford, so its a 2023 and it had 4k miles on it when I purchased it. Had an issue with the main sync screen intermittently going in and out or flickering. Ford said they bought the car back from the original owner and fixed the problem before they put it up for sale. The day I drove it off the lot the screen started flickering an hour into my trip back home. Long story short, had to take 3 visits at the dealership for them to fix the problem which is unacceptable. I assume the original owner just got rid of it because Ford didn’t fix the issue in a timely manner come to find out. It’s going in again because of the rear end clicking when I go from a stop to accelerate or vice versa. Sounds like it’s either the bolts on the rear axle of the drive train or the splines. Quality control needs to be much better. My older ‘14 Explorer was much more reliable.
How do you rate reliability on a new vehicle? If it was the new Tundra when it first came out, they would have said Toyota’s are very dependable, then screwed over viewers who bought it only to have the engine blow. Reliability can only be measured using real world data after tens of thousands of the new model have years and hundreds of thousands of miles worth of data to examine.
18:15 Purchased one. Excellent quality. Engine break in completed. Headed to Ford Performance Racing school at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Received 2 invites as part of the Explorer ST purchase.
I signed up for that but for the one in Utah, it said they were done for this year and I had to be on an email list for next year. I have not heard a thing since signing up on the list.
The exhaust is pointed down because customers kept complaining that their nice shiny exhaust tips kept getting covered in soot and these newer (more environmentally friendly) gas engines, put out a lot of soot. So, you make exit out the bottom and you keep the tips shiny.
Facts i always thought the same but this might have different shocks/suspensions for stiffer ride for better handling vs platium with softer shocks for morecomfortable ride (my theory). Plus platinum might cost more for other bells and whistles.
Jen nailed it on the touch screen. It seemed cool at first, but in a moving car, where you need to stay focused on the road, touch screens SUCK. I can rest my finger on a button and press many times without looking at it, can't do that with a touch screen. But the shelf idea, that may just be the solution, if we must have these ridiculous screens now.
I have grown accustomed to using our Jeeps Uconnect its almost muscle memory now, once you learn the systems it is pretty easy to navigate the menus. Majority of the time I just leave everything be and I have my screen setup just the way I like it. Only thing I ever do is check Water,Oil and Trans Temp and scroll to monitor tire pressures. But this on the Center CFT. I have Temp set on Sync and Auto Temp control I hop in and drive
It's not as bad as it seems due to that little shelf but also if you use the auto mode and set the temp ya like, then ya really don't eve have to touch it. You can also link the hot and cold seats to the auto temp as well.
On the Blue Cruise staring back on October 1st if ya buy new I believe they are offering Blue Cruise as a one time purchase with no additional costs for something like $2,495.00 (don't remember exact figure) as well, at least that's what I found out when I went to the website after purchasing my ST, which my dealer did not mention, but I was still able to take advantage of it since I bought my car less then 24 hours before they offered it. So I basically have Blue Cruise for life unless Ford decides to dump it. SO if ya buy one be sure to ask about the one time purchase of Blue Cruise as it came out way cheaper than the monthly or yearly and its basically that one payment for life. You do still have to pay the $80 a year for the navigation subscription though I believe to go with it.
Auto manufacturers are hard at work figuring out how to get more and more subscription services attached to vehicles. It's no secret in business that subs > ownership. This will get worse and worse as long as people accept and pay for those subs now. Please stop, please recognize how dangerous this is now and don't wait. One day automakers could charge a "core" amount for each vehicle and then you pay subs for every little add-on available (blinkers, cruiser control, wipers, safety, stereo, heated/cooling seats, USB ports, even to just start your car could be a sub), then they'd package various bundles for feature subs and you'd pay an upfront core cost + whatever feature sub package you chose and pay on that vehicle forever...never owning it, never paying it off, always paying a sub. eff that, please don't be complacent now...future generations will sit around wondering why on earth their parents & grandparents did this to them.
I really like the ST, but it basically is the same interior as an ST-line despite the big upcharge. I ordered a Platinum because of this because you get a much nicer interior while still having the 3.0V6. I know the ST has 3.55 and the Platinum has a 3.31 but I cannot get past an ST-line interior in the ST. They should've done something with the seats like on the GT Mach-E or added carbon fibre trim. But at the end of the day, the interior and tech is a huge improvement and way better than last year.
I was also looking the the platinum for the seats as well but I went with the ST which also has a tuned suspension that the platinum supposedly does not .

There is a spare tire, it's in the back under that little compartment they showed it's not a true full size but not a tiny doughnut as well, however the vehicle compensates for the different size (at least the 4WD does) I don't think its a problem for the RWD only one. they tell ya about it in the manual.

We looked at these today at our local Ford dealership. But when I heard them say it was made in Chicago I was shocked. I bet the back up sensors sounds like a smoke detector with a low battery. Guess we will be looking at something else. That thing wont last 2 years.
I think its over priced for what it and has. The mileage efficiency on the Explorer is not really all that great to be honest. I imagine this version is not good either given the engine. For the money Ford could and should do better.

While the ST is the only explorer I'd consider owning - f it. Give us the damn Everest already.
Ford seems to be upping their game when it comes to interiors.
No heads up display is a miss. I guess they want you to get the Lincoln if you want HUD. And a prop for the hood? It seems they want to remind you it’s a ford, not a Lincoln.
Hood prop is a bit of let down but how often do ya actually open your hood (unless your doing lots of mods or other work)
Jen should be in more TFL videos.
That tower brace, made of steel, bolted with 2 bolts to each plastic tower. Wonder how long that's gonna last?
They're not plastic. It's incredible how dumb some people are🤦♂
@ I'm pretty sure they're fiber reinforced PLASTIC, DA.
If that was a wagon I’d be all in.
11:12 she nailed it on the touch screens i dont get why we have a problem with people being on their phones but allow touch screens in vehicles
Probably because a phone is 100% more distracting and ya don't really touch the screen all that much. Next time your in your car count how many times you actually touch it while driving.
I say the whole car just becomes a giant grille. The facelift looks weird.
Was the check engine light on?
Beautiful suv!!
@13:10... I will NEVER buy a car that requires me to pay in perpetuity for a feature. I pay once and I own it. That's it.
It does not require you to pay for Blue Cruise. You can just skip that feature.
@@TFLnow True, but then you have buttons that do nothing. My point is if the feature is in the car, I should be able to always use it.
@@aaronbritt2025then buy the car without the optional feature
@@drags666 You're missing the point. Yes, not buying the feature is an option. My point is if I do choose to buy the feature, I should only have to pay for it once and not forever.
If I recall correctly, the BlueCruise subscription pays for keeping the maps updated. It would be pretty useless without that.
$50.00 dollars a month just to use "Super Cruise"???...no thanks...paying an extra fee to use features that are built into the machine is just stupid...IMO
Trackhawk will always be king!!!!! those these are nice :)
They need to bring it back with the hurricane. Least they can do
Not for $110K+ unless you got that kind of money.
The real question is, will it go more than 100k miles without some kind of massive systems failure.
A mere $60k...
This is the vehicle that's making me think twice about getting a truck.
hope they addressed the rear sub frame issue of all that power
I really like it but a high price plus Ford lack of quality makes it a NO. $56k is now "affordable"? Only if you make TFL reporting money.
lol have ya seen the prices at Jeep? Find another 3 row SUV with 400hp under 60k. I couldn't.
where is the spare tire?
For opening Rear hatch all car manufacturers must inspire from Cadillac and cupra. Put the hatch opening button integrated to the logo . It's easy and straight . No need to call FBI to find the hatch opening button
yeah it's kind of hard to remember it's under the 'R" after you have done it like 10 or more times😂😜
Lower towing numbers translate your getting less for paying more. Cheap 🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥
Does the 3.0 share the same two-piece CGI block found in the 2.7 ecoboost?
Yes, it's a derivative of the 2.7
Nano Engine Family
This is one car I really like I most likely go AWD as Winter with Snow Types would be great I out looking at cars today I wonder the new Dodge twin turbo V6 be like in the Chrysler mini van with AWD & 500 HP
and twice the price😜. Unless Stellantis get thier company under control.
Looks like a cop, causing drivers to hit their brakes everywhere!
That is gorgeous, I wish they sold them in the UK, our SUV's over here are getting smaller. No good for me and my family, I'm 6'4" my partner is tall and my 5 and 7 year old boys are tall. UK cars are getting too small and low.
Just wait till they release the Ford calibration that also works on the bronco raptor and ranger raptor
Who is Jen?
20 mpg after driving aggressively.....I wouldn't complain
Let's drag this against a Durango 392 for funzies
Did they add people shooting each other to the Chicago graphic?
If it was a red state product it would show a hillbilly marrying his sister.
The ST needs a Coyote in it and get a AWD option with it.
Exploder ST is complete crap. Had one. Blew the rear end out twice. Ford removed half of the hardware holding the rear-end together to save $$. Never again!
Just curious, what model year did you have?
@@screennamenottaken2 Ours was a 2022. The 2021 year had all the new model quirks but at least it had 2 bolts in the rear end!
How Gear and clutch is now disappeared from car anatomy now With only acceleratortor and brake The car is running now very smoothly.
Just so people know,,,the brakes and service is 3500 our friend has one,,,
HATE ROTERY SHIFTERS - why ford, why????
Because gimmickry 😒. Like so many other things in vehicles now days. Save us a fortune and take a lot of the crap out we’ll never use. I do like the infotainment screen and the dash screen animations are cool. Could use a few more actual dials and buttons though.
if u driving an SUV u should buy this one
If the calipers are not big brembos they should not be painted red, looks riced out
Or gold or black
Agreed. They should’ve gone Brembo on this
@msokes9 A nice upgrade on a perfomance vehicle, red paint is a waste, almost as bad as those caliper covers
A full metal roof is stronger!!😊
No SPARE TIRE????
Oh, sticker says space saver spare.
There is a spare tire, it's in the back under that little compartment they showed it's not a true full size but not a tiny doughnut as well, however the vehicle compensates for the different size (at least the 4WD does) I don't think its a problem for the RWD only one. they tell ya about it in the manual.
She seems to be sharp. 😊😊😊
What about the new excursion?
ooh red single piston calipers pretty LOL
Jen, FYI; a sleeper vehicle does not have red calipers
The sound bar effect on the dash looks cheap.A rotary shift knob on a sport model? Tacky
The liftgate button is bad but what a heck is that humongous rear camera!
Why ford why!!!
Stop saying YOU KNOW over and over again! YOU KNOW!
If I’m gonna spend that kind of outrageous money on a midsize SUV, I’m just gonna go ahead and jump to the expedition.
However, the Expedition 4WD now costs $66K+
@@TFLnow Yep! A fully loaded Explorer is now in the low sixties. For me and my lifestyle a full size SUV is the only way to go.
@@KeystoneTexan If ya got the room then more power to ya, I unfortunately did not have room for anything bigger unless I wanted to park on the street and get it broken into or have the cats stolen (sad state of our communities nowadays), the explorer just fits in my garage and is just a little bigger than what I had before which is what I wanted. Guess that's why they make different cars choice.
The “soundbar” looks like a pool noodle
Coffee table
WTF IS BLUE CRUISE and why does it require a sub like Sirius XM??!
Hands free driving kind of like tesla but it doers not do everything for ya. I like it. It will even changes lanes for ya when you put the blinker on. Makes for a fun drive but its not really necessary.
Unfortunately only 3 peeps are looking for sporty family vehicles...everyone else is looking for a plain old affordable vehicle...oh well...
V8?
Plastic oil pan and 3 O-rings on its paper element oil filter.
Yup this destroys the acura mdx type s.
I'm glad they didn't hit the explorer with the same ugly stick the ranger and Maverick got.
Ford has too much plastic and are not reliable enough. Also needs to provide a better experience in the service department
How ironic is the timing of this video, because FERD just recalled 100,000 Ecoboost engines yesterday?
You know because quality is Job 1.
Can you imagine how many customers they would have had to burn before they caved to this massive recall?
Remember the Range Rover...I do!
Those were older ones and things change, I'm pretty sure newer ones will have everything updated. (at least I'm hoping that have as I have one LOL)
@@Anthony-fd8mh Can you be more specific to what older ones you mean?
@@sickjohnson Sure here ya go:
Ford and Lincoln are recalling nearly 91,000 models with the 2.7- and 3.0-liter EcoBoost engines that may fail. The recall affects 2021 to 2022 models with those engines, including the Ford F-150, Bronco, Explorer, and Edge; the Lincoln Aviator and Nautilus are affected too. 2021's and 2022's no 23's, 24's or 25's.
@@Anthony-fd8mh Awesome!
Oh my gosh, Ford please paint that plastic cladding!!!
We looked at these today at our local Ford dealership. But when I heard them say it was made in Chicago I was shocked. I bet the back up sensors sounds like a smoke detector with a low battery. Guess we will be looking at something else. That thing wont last 2 years.
😂😂😂
❤❤❤
I think its over priced for what it and has. The mileage efficiency on the Explorer is not really all that great to be honest. I imagine this version is not good either given the engine. For the money Ford could and should do better.
Please stop pushing the warranties
It's actually half the price of buying the factory Warr from dealer
It looks so 2010s..
