When can we link DWF, NWD or FBX files? Now Tekla runs on DirectX and can handle pointclouds it will be good to see support for file formats that company's use to archive there projects.

Those are all Autodesk native files so not likely that we will have support for those. In the latest version of Trimble Connect Desktop you can view point clouds from multiple file formats so you can view the point cloud in relation to the model.

Does Trimble or Tekla know that where a GA drawing to be linked to? I mean I can link it manually to the grid for example, but what if I use "LinkingDocuments to Trimble Connect" extension?
Thank you guys for developing and making videos!

Yes Tekla Structures knows which objects are displayed on any drawing so that's what the tool does. It finds all the objects shown on a GA drawing and then links the GA drawing to those objects.

You can use the Trimble Connector in previous versions to upload an IFC file to your Trimble Connect project. See this video: www.tekla.com/resources/youtube-trimble-connect-with-tekla-structures/tekla-structures-2019-to-trimble-connect-workflow You can also use the Connector to easily upload a new version after modifications are made to the model.

    Hi Lee,
Thanks for all your Videos and Daves Videos also, I’ve been watching a ton of them lately.
Is it possible to have the generated assembly IFC files linked with the generated drawings? I’d like to use Trimble connect for my fabricators down in the shop in order to get rid of paper drawings, and this would be very helpful.
Also i read in another comment that your considering having drawings that can be rotated into model view and back, is that still being considered? Might be an awesome feature!
Another thing i ran into: when i open PDF drawings on a windows tablet they always open in the browser, which is fine, but they end up having a cryptic name. Is there a workaround for that? Web version of TC is not really an option as reception isn’t always the best in the shop and on the building site.
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work, you’re amazing!
    Tobias

Thanks for reaching out and glad to hear that you find the videos useful. Since this video I released another showing the new option that was added to overlay the drawing annotations to the model objects. You can view it here: ruclips.net/video/ridMpOw6FeA/видео.html. Let us know what you think!

Lee Snyder thanks for the quick answer. Yeah I watched that video already, really nice feature! That’s why I’d like to have the drawings not only linked to the main model ifc, but also to the assembly ifc. Is that already possible? Couldn’t find the option. What’s the right place for questions like that? Trimble connect forums?

@@tobiassteinhardt6107 That options isn't available but I'll add it to our development list. For feature requests you can also send them to your local help desk or post them on the forum.

Hi , when export from tekla 2017 using trimble connect direct to cloud , i couldn't select assembly it is export as parts .......... any way to export direct from Trimble connect to cloud as assembly object ?

In the IFC settings that you are using can you verify that the option to include assemblies is enabled? If your IFC attributes setting includes assemblies, then when you run the export you'll be able to select parts or assemblies in Trimble Connect.

@@osamaahmedhassan5793 Yes I just went back and checked the developer notes for 2017 and when using the automatic upload, the assemblies aren't included. That appears to have been added in 2018 and newer versions. So for 2017 you'd need to export an IFC file using the File>Export>IFC with the settings that you need and then manually upload that to your Trimble Connect project.
