The square beam of the Olight is great for not involving anyone to the side, stealth like. Both are great torches though. Great to have two lights in one. Nice review and night shots.
i bought the sofirn Q8 plus with my christmas money and i love it lol i sleep with it and everything lol i wake up early just so i can use my lights thats how much i love flashlight and LEDs tecknology lol so yeah god bless and ill see you in the next one
That funky spot mode on the Olight is a deal breaker! Love the Olight's adjustment wheel but that poorly thought out square spot beam killed my excitement.
If Fenix were to put the same type of beam adjustment wheel on their light, adjust their emitter tint to 4500K, by using GT FC40 or 219B emitters, have a larger hotspot for their throw mode (SFT70) and design the reflector to have fewer circular artifacts we'd have the world's best flashlight!
Except for the light color, I find the Fenix ten times better, that's for sure. What's with the "cinema optics" with the Olight??? AnyWay, Fenix should just make the light color a little bit warmer and good. With the shorter and smaller, the Fenix manufacturers have been doing it for a long time anyway!!! Best regards from the Alster, Thomas p.s. My EDC Lamp is the Fenix PD36R Pro - however, the light color of this lamp is too bright for me, i.e. white !!!
Lol yeah that Olight 'fish eye' square beam is certainly an 'aquired taste' - BUT those fumbly buttons on the fenix (hmmmm) Personally I thought both lights needed improvement (they aren't inexpensive r they!)
I have several dual channel lights. Olight Marauder Mini, Wurkkos TS32, Noctigon DM1.12 (Hank Wang). I have been interested in the Fenix LR40R but hesitant because of the price. Well now in April 2023, Fenix comes out with the LR40R version 2. Do you have any plans to review this new Fenix model?
@@TopDog8762 Yep! I was waiting to see a review video too, I should make one comparing them 😂 only downside I will say is you can’t take the battery pack out of the new one.. which isn’t a big deal but just something to know!
i like the fenix better because you can use both flood and throw at the same time now if the olight had that future then i would chose that one but i dont like that you cant use both flood and throw with the olight so yeah fenix gets the win on this one to me
man those are some beautiful looking lights makes me want to go out and get a second job just to buy one of these beauties lol

Merging the best points from both would be a fine machine.
Agreed!

excellant review.I agree that the ui on the olight is superior but fenix has adressed this on the v2. plus they increased the output
