This is an awesome lecture by a renowned expert and well worth listening to if you are at all interested in the addiction epidemic and the levels of depression, anxiety and violence in our modern lives. Backed by years of sensorimotor research into the neurobiological roots of trauma, Janina traces the evolution of dysregulated babies into the window of tolerance and explains a complicated subject as if she were telling a story to a child. She is so easy to understand. I don't know if its just that I've studied the subject for a couple years now but her flip chart is an awesome resource and this lecture presentation is very much along the same lines. I love Janina Fisher and am going to look for every lecture I can find of her online. THanks for posting this and Janina, you rocked #brieftherapy!

The hypoarousal is a part. The hyperarousal is a part. These feeling states become dissociative parts when they are states we exist in for long periods of time as a kid. These states become neurons that wire and fire together and they can be come so complex, they aren’t just feeling states.... these are feelings with behaviors.

Implicit memory with procedural memory that get complex are the parts of parts.

I'm tired of hearing about how parents don't set out to traumatize children. They wanted to hurt us when they did and that's enough. They also didn't set out to do a good job at raising us.

I have ONE DISAGREEMENT.."NO PARENT SETS OUT TO TRAUMATIZE A CHILD"...
NO...NO GOOOOOD PARENT SETS OUT TO TRAUMATIZE A CHILD...
Abused children are dealing with REAL MONSTERS...

Whenever I hear about how parents didn't want to traumatize me my suicidal thoughts sky rocket.
