Jonathan Campos Sorry to burst your bubble but it really is. If you have a mike live you can hear where people breathe and its a dead give away when you can't hear it. Even if the sound guy is the speediest mixer in the world they couldn't cue that fast. Also the lines are too crystal clear to be live, the sound quality between artists on the same show is a dead give away. you see who lip-syncs to the original track, records a 2nd live vocal or who actually SINGS (also sometimes the ones who sing have a couple of lines over a vocal track on important lines in case of a vocal falter) MR takes away all the original recording so you hear everything that isn't on that recording. Which in this case would be the 2nd recording of live vocals that they had done prior to the performance. I'm not hating on fx because a lot of groups do it.....a lot of SM groups lately actually. Almost all if not ALL EXO overdose performances were done in the same way.

And if you LOOK at the Overdose choreography the person who is singing the main line at the time ISNT doing hard choreography. Therefore they SHOULD be able to sing their line live as obviously they made the dance to accommodate the singing. once again ITS MY JOB TO SING AND DANCE AT THE SAME TIME It takes practice...but its not as hard as KPOP fans make it out to be. and also BoA is my first kpop love and bias and she is amazing AND can sing live whilst doing HARDER choreography than the boys are doing in overdose and TEN TIMES harder than fx has ever done. i just don't understand the point of putting hate whether they sing live or not. Music is to be enjoyed, the meaning of the lyrics, the catchy music, inspiration. I seriously believe people these days can only complain about the small things. We're lucky enough to see these girls performance on YT instead of traveling all the way to korea. It's already hard enough to dance, let alone sing too. Back in the day singers lip synced and no one cared but enjoyed the music. Give them a break. I thought this performance was one of their best.

But I have to say, when I first got into kpop I was pretty shocked in the way fandoms would excuse or make excuses to whoever they were biased towards. I just don't get why these company's essentially hire these kids who are mediocre dancers or singer, then essentially market them with pre-chosen concepts or songs. this isn't a personal attack on any group. It just, singing live is kind of a given? Like, record a song, but whats the point if you can't perform is live. I get the dancing, but really, why dance so hard you can't even perform your song. I remember ages ago I watched this interview, and Jessica mentioned how she really didn't like "Hoot" and thought it wasn't a good song at all, but there she was performing it. All these groups literally have no choice for their concepts and therefore I don't really see how passion for music or performing could come through that, none of them really can create and take pride in there work. MJ had to lip sync most/sometimes to focus on his dance (becuz his choreography was complicated & tiring) like what f(x) was trying to do. What i'm trying to answer to your question "why dance so hard you can't even perform(sing) your song?" Is that it's all about entertainment/Performance factor like what MJ did. Sure people went to hear him sing but they were also there especially to watch MJ entertain them with his passionate complicated dance moves & facial emotions for certain songs. MJ either danced full out + lip sync or just walk around + sing becuz it's just impossible to sing & dance (complicated choreo) for upbeat songs. And I also get you're not implying that groups are on the scale of Michael Jackson, but I have to say, Mj has this hugeeee stage presence of a huge and long successful career. That stage presence, in my opinion, that simply missing in like 90% of the k-pop industry. My favourite stage. Love everyone's stage presence and personality. Like people say Krystal and Jessica are so much alike and sound alike. But to be honest. Watch an snsd stage and focus on Jessica and then come watch and fx stage and focus on Krystal. Their stage presence and personality are completely different. But when they're off stage and not doing anything that deals with music then that's where they're the same. And as for sounding the same. Jessica's voice is higher than krystal's and always will be. Jessica is my ultimate female bias so I can tell the difference between their voices like it's nothing. But yeah when it comes to stage performances they're not really all that much alike. Like watch Mr. Mr. Focus on Jess, then come watch this and focus on Krystal you'll see the difference when it comes to there charisma.
It's not even that. They're both two different type of feminine. Krystal is like a sassy bad ass feminine and Jessica is like a fierce but cute with a hint of model feminine.

What i'm trying to answer to your question "why dance so hard you can't even perform(sing) your song?" Is that it's all about entertainment/Performance factor like what MJ did. Sure people went to hear him sing but they were also there especially to watch MJ entertain them with his passionate complicated dance moves & facial emotions for certain songs. MJ either danced full out + lip sync or just walk around + sing becuz it's just impossible to sing & dance (complicated choreo) for upbeat songs. I can understand if it was a ballad they have no excuse to lip sync. I just don't think their are any singers out there that can dance full out and sing amazingly at the same time. Therefore, for the sake of entertainment most singers dance full out and sing very little live for upbeat music. Sorry if it's confusing. But i also agree with what you've said.
No. no I totally get what you're saying. And I also get you're not implying that groups are on the scale of Michael Jackson, but I have to say, Mj has this hugeeee stage presence of a huge and long successful career.
That stage presence, in my opinion, that simply missing in like 90% of the k-pop industry. If I could explain it better, it would be, you know when a certain member just stands there waiting for the next dance move or their line. It's like when it's not their turn to sing, they're simply waiting in line. Im not disagreeing with you, but I do think, if you're Michael Jackson and you have this huge string of successful songs and known for your larger stage personality, go ahead do your fancy moves (you've essentially earned it), but otherwise yeah just sing and dance live because thats what singers and dancers do. I think the statement, "I have to focus on my dancing, so I can't sing live" has a heavy sense of irony and arrogance to it :) But hahah, thanks for going along with me on this

This was a nice reasonable convo :) Some people just take comments the wrong way these days in kpop and just fight each other in comment sections (because some ppl are close minded or just ignorant). I miss when kpop was not as out there and most fandoms didn't bash each other as much. Oh my gosh. I wished that they would keep Luna's blue hair and Amber's red hair longer!!!! BUT GOSH THEY'RE ALL FADING NOW, Only Krystal's hair is being kept blonde!!! It's like a whole new make over for Luna, I was happy that she's having that kind of hair in the MV, but it's changing now, I hope next week, they dye their hair again, which I think won't happen. :(

My favourite stage. Love everyone's stage presence and personality. Like people say Krystal and Jessica are so much alike and sound alike. But to be honest. Watch an snsd stage and focus on Jessica and then come watch and fx stage and focus on Krystal. Their stage presence and personality are completely different. But when they're off stage and not doing anything that deals with music then that's where they're the same. And as for sounding the same. Jessica's voice is higher than krystal's and always will be. Jessica is my ultimate female bias so I can tell the difference between their voices like it's nothing. But yeah when it comes to stage performances they're not really all that much alike. Like watch Mr. Mr. Focus on Jess, then come watch this and focus on Krystal you'll see the difference when it comes to there charisma.
Thought something they do have in common is that they both have heaps of charisma ;)

I agree. Also Jess is more "feminine", Krystal is very pretty and her personality is somehow "boyish", that's why i like her tho. But she's hella hot.

This performance is soooo awesome!!! The cameraman did a GREAT job. The stage is also good. They look more power and fun with song more than other stage. Moreover, the choreograph has the power more than in their music video.
