- This is the official Wood Badge song, "Back to Gilwell", as sung by the amazing staff of SHAC 12-4 at the close of the course's 2nd weekend, at Kuester Lodge at Camp Strake just north of Houston, Texas in the fall of 2012.
"Make it so!"
An awesome time in our lives. My wife and I were woodbadge staff for three years and it was some of the greatest time in our lives!
I worked my ticket 18 years ago. The best experience in my life was Wood Badge. May we all find our own Gilwell.
This staff has some great vocalists. Job well done!
Thank you very much!
THIS IS AWESOME!
Just finished my ticket and looked up the song lyrics and found this. What a treat. Chills. Gilwell will forever be a happy place.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Over the years I staffed a couple different Wood Badge courses. This one was definitely a special one for me. Congrats on finishing your ticket. Back to Gilwell!
Just finished weekend 1 and missed hearing this every day. Looked this up and was so happy to hear the great harmony. I'll try to take this to weekend 2!
My heart is full of such happiness and longing to go back to Gilwell!
Good music
This brought back so many memories. Hello from Troop 40, west Tennessee Area Council, Cobra Patrol!
Emotivo, grandioso.
Going through my old scout book and found this. Couldn't think of the tune though. Thank you to everyone! Songs were my favorite part of scouting
I have been a boy scout since I got my arrow of light in 2012. I was in cub scouts since 2007. Now I'm eagle out. I love this song it reminds me of summer camp At the end of the camp on Sunday we all sing a song around a camp fire. Telling stories and giving short plays. An good times.
Same joined cubs in 2006 eagled out 2014
Best version EVER ever!!
My husband just finished going to week 1 and he has this song in his head. I figured it's payback since I went to wood badge first. I told him this song is catchy
Wow! Great voices, singing a great song! A left handshake of this "brother in scarf" from Brazil (Cuckoo, on my Wood Badge formation).
When I was a staffer at Aspen Ridge, we used to shout the part “Old and Feeble” while looking at the camp director lol
:-D
Good voices. Love this song. Sounds like practice and arrangement.
AWESOME, thank you.
Brings back some great memories. Fox Patrol…..W4-51-21

Sounds like you have 4 part harmonies here. Did you have SATB sheet music by chance?
Sadly no. Not quite sure how we were able to do that. A number of the staffers are pretty darn good singers and just did it by ear. I think by the time we sang this final time at the close of of the course, we had figured out what worked together and what didn't.

I used to be a fox
We had a Raven on staff, but that is still no Bobwhite!

I used to be a Bear!
A Good Ole Bear too!
I used to be a Fox..,
Everything else is just prey to an EAGLE.
as an Eagle, I definitely will use that. ;-/
I'm an Eagle, too. Class of 2001, Golden Empire Council. My son, a Life Scout at the time, was upset because he said that girls couldn't be Eagles. It's really different now.
