    Hey I just did a project on the legalization of Asian Arowana. They’re illegal in the U.S. because of the endangered species act. CITES allows for the regulated international trade of the arowana, but because the U.S. has the endangered species act, it won’t allow us to keep Asian arowana.

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  3 года назад +3

      Yup. I realized my phrasing was not very clear. I should have said cites allows it to be traded and kept as pets first before saying it is illegal to keep it as pets in the US. I was referring to elsewhere globally but it came off as referencing the US still haha

    When I see pond like this I still don’t get it if arowana or other tropical fish can live in cold water?? Bc that water look cold, cold lol

    • @chinsoonn
      @chinsoonn 3 года назад +1

      Fish will die if the water is too cold

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  3 года назад

      Singapore weather is usually between 25-35 degrees celcius year round. It is the same temperature and climate as where they are found naturally

    • @chinsoonn
      @chinsoonn 3 года назад

      Yes the weather in Singapore is around 25 to 35 degrees but if the weather is raining everyday the temperature of the water will be very cold , If too much rain n water temperature change too much difference the brooder will die

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  3 года назад

      Certainly a possibility but unlikely scenario. Probably as likely as asking if we need a chiller for our arowanas in case it gets too warm. Temperatures are likely to flactuate to less than ideal especially if there is not sufficient water volume. But healthy fish dont die because the temperature if 2 degrees off their ideal range especially if it's only for a short period. Not saying it can never happen but the odds are probably not worth addressing.
      Either way, not rly relevant to OP query. He wanna know if Arowanas can live in cold water because he thinks the water looked cold. My point is the water was not cold. It was a warm sunny day. And arowanas cant live in cold water by most peoples definition of cold water.

    • @chinsoonn
      @chinsoonn 3 года назад

      It happen in my farm ,From 1st jan it rain every day for two week n i lost 30 over brooder cos the water is v v cold , i need to go to the pond n collect the dead fish that why i know is v cold 🥶🥶🥶🥶

    I wonder how can I train my arowana to eat pellet food. He only ate Superworms, Chicken, Pork and Fish meat.

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  3 года назад +1

      I'm no expert but I think the most straight forward method is starving the fish and only offering pellets. Sometimes putting it in a community might help (either via learnt social behaviour/herd mentality or by creating competition for food)

    • @HirotosAdventure23
      @HirotosAdventure23 3 года назад

      @@SGBeardedAquarist thanks sir. I've been thinking about it, to starve my arowana and Paroon shark for a while but I was kind of hesitant thinking it might not good for my fishes, but I'll try this method starting tomorrow.
      Thanks, Greetings from Philippines!

      This is not really an avenue for feedback. But I'll leave this comment here since I respect openness and your opinions. I'm not sure why he "ignored" you but my impression of Jerome is that he isn't someone to do such a thing. At least not for the reason you have mentioned.
      And as much as I respect your opinions, I do have to point out something. If someone ignored me, it is not possible for me to know what he is thinking. Any attempt to decipher it is purely my inner voice and interpretation.
      Jerome strikes me as a quiet individual like myself. That may very well explain why you might have felt "ignored". Dont take it personally.
