    THANK YOU! So many folks get a houseplant or potted plant, and for some reason it dies. Then they toss the plant AND soil out, and keep the empty pot. Folks, dirt ain't dirt cheap no more! Save it! Reuse it! Improve it! Follow the seasons and reasons the Lord has given us: Winter when most things are dormant and resting, Spring when things are first SPRINGING up, Summer when things are in full production and really thriving, and Fall when things are slowing down and the deciduous leaves FALL back to earth to replenish the soil. It's the cycle and circle of Life 🔁 Use and respect what God has given you, and you will never be found wanting. 😇
    Thank you Mr. Hollis and Mrs. Nancy for sharing your knowledge with anyone who has the eyes to see and ears to hear, and the willingness put their hands and hearts into what God gave us.

    I empty all of my used Container soil from the previous year into a Kiddy swimming pool and mix it all in there. I filled my containers from there which is a giant Is a wheelbarrow really. Before I mix it all I add the pearl light the bone meal the blood meal And some fertilizer. Your videos are awesome! And believe it or not people think that gardening is for cupcakes but if they really knew all the heavy lifting Of those bags and shoveling Of the dirt and the a moving of the containers that is done they wouldn't think that. I invite anybody to come and help and see what they think afterwards! Thanks so much for your videos and I understand now why your wife video tapes them because you can't do that while you're working

    I am going no-till, leaving the container soil in place, plant my soil with another family of plants than the previous one and top-dress with a slow release fertilizer. Am just rotating. Less hauling stuff around, mixing, stirring. Looking for preserving the soil structure and less disturbance of the microbes that maintain it.

    Really, really enjoy the videos. My dad recently retired after 46 years in the oil and gas industry, he has zero hobbies. In an effort to try and find something for him to do I began gardening. It's enriched both of our lives tremendously, he really enjoys doing it. Outside of the grandchildren it gives him an excuse to come into town to visit. We both enjoy you're channel, I've personally learned quite a bit. Many, many thanks.

    Thank you so much for sharing your given time in such a warm and welcoming way!🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻
    I enjoy your channel and love the way that you’re sowing the seeds of The Word of God right alongside the seeds in the soil. May the words you post fall on fertile soil, every one.
    I must say though, that in all my years of gardening, I’ve yet to buy a bag of anything to mix in to The Lord’s soil. I *do* use a lot of compost and wood ash from our wood stove, and my yields have always been abundant, Praise God!🙏🏻
    I know that soil quality differs widely from place to place, and we’ve been blessed with rich, dark earth here in these mountains, and I know that the mineral content in it is high. Perhaps that’s why I haven’t needed additives yet....
    Blessings to you both!
    Love and All Good Things,
    Jesse.🌹

    I used an old medium sized kids pool and dumped all my container soil in it. I also put in peat moss, manure, 10-10-10- fertilizer worm castings and home made compost and mixed it up with a shovel. Man that's the best container soil I've ever had!

    • @michellepollock2431
      @michellepollock2431 6 лет назад

      Can you keep the soil in it for a very long period of time? I'm concerned that the soil might rot if it is sitting in plastic till next spring. Is that crazy?

    • @garyjohn316
      @garyjohn316 6 лет назад

      I just keep the soil in the pots over the winter and in April dump them all in the old kids pool and add all the amendments that I mentioned above. You can add whatever you want as well. This was a huge success and I will continue to do it in the years to come. The Tomatoes that I grew in them were the best container plants I ever grew. I think adding the peat moss was great because it helps a little to contain the moisture. It will certainly revive the old soil.

    Look at garage sales for a used Harbor Freight cement mixer. When I was done with my projects, I sold mine for $100. When he finished his project, he sold it for $50. It would mix the soil very well. Jerry Miculek uses one to clean brass for reloading.

It has existed raised garden beds and they are very dry (look dead to me), not planted for years. So, can I do the same thing to revitalize, amend, and re-use bed garden soil in place of potting soil? I have heard that we should use the potting soil for the raised bed garden. Please let me know! I really like your potato grow videos, they will be a big help. Our potatoes didn't turn out to well last year. The reclaim the soil well helpful too. I used bone meal but not the lime & blood meal. I will be adding these this year. Thanks!

    I watch your videos on growing Korean vegetables. I want to make my own kimchi and vegetable sides but my Korean isn't great and I can barely read the instructions on the seed packet. I studied your tutorials on growing chamoe and mu so I can start! thank you!

    Never tired of seeing you mix that soil! Reminded me that I still need to get some blood and bone meal. I found a nearby source of free aged manure and a great sale on lime... but you quoted a better price for lime so I suppose I'm still paying too much. Happy Gardening.

      Hollis & Nancy's Homestead lol...Naw, you guys know better than to let that bug you. Turn the other cheek as they say...In my experience those type live a miserable existence until they figure it out...After all, when faced with death if they get one second to ponder it, everyone prays right then. God bless guys and keep up the great videos...Glad everythings back on track after the hurricane.

    Looks like you need to find a used cement mixer on Craigs List! Make turning that large amount much easier!
