    It appears that he attempted to use the mind in order to transcend the mind. Instead of getting lost in his multiplicity of selves, he became all of them.Where before he was trapped in himself, now he was trapped in a hundred selves. He is genius in his description of this predicament from so many perspectives. He does seem to have the awareness of this condition, but for reasons unknown he seems to choose to remain in it. Probably just like he "chose" to remain an alcoholic.

    Have been reading and watching stuff analyzing Pessoa, 'the book of disquiet' and have been immersed in the varied ideas that have been floating around about him, his works- the multiplicity, self-abnegation, legitimizing the escape from the body and the mind, granting permission to his innerscape to be disparate and fluid, among other things.
    I just want to say that your video, for me, perfectly embodies a pull and an appeal, in its extraction of the themes and corresponding quotes from the book, in a manner that makes you look like some divinely anointed hybrid of a radio and a portal, doing complete justice to the mass transmission of the author's ideas even in his absence from the mortal world (pardon my sleep deprived yet feeling inspired analogies). I just hope you know that the one hour I spent watching, re-watching and rewinding through this video felt so inspiring and helped enable the expansion of my mental horizons, in an otherwise long period of lull for me. Thank you.
    Also side note, love your shirt. Could you please share where have you purchased it from?

    I've been reading fragments of the book of Disquiet all my life, both in Portuguese and in English, and I do it like someone lost in Borges Babel's Library who stumps on these fragments in every Eaon of awareness that chimes away in a googleplex of nanoseconds... I come back to a lost page that I happen to open and find my fate in any sentence that strikes my own echoes of solitude!

      "I've been reading fragments of the book of Disquiet all my life" - to be honest, I too am gonna keep rereading this book all my life. And maybe someday in Portuguese too! I'm learning French at the moment, I'll get to Portuguese eventually I hope.

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this very special book! I'm currently reading it and watching this video felt like having a chat about the book, which I was really craving ✨ And I wanted to recommend Agua Viva by Clarice Lispector to you, in case you haven't read it yet. If you enjoy Pessoa you might enjoy her as well. Though she is not as melancholy as him, there is a sort of primal violence to her observations. At least that's how I felt. Have nice day 🌻

    You might want to read some of the ancient texts of Advaita Vedanta - Shankaracharya's 'Crest jewell of discrimination ' for example . They deal with the disquiet but also provide solutions ✌️🕉️

    Thank you for creating this videos. Would it be better to read the Spanish edition of this book (The book of Disquiet), considering that it was first written in Portuguese?

    • @generated.name.by.human.
      @generated.name.by.human. 5 месяцев назад +1

      It's better to read the Spanish version since the languages are extremely similar (even the idioms) so the changes in the way of saying things are less :)

      I've not read Pessoa's poetry yet, just here and there.
