  • Most of the Texas Panhandle seems ridiculously flat and absolutely featureless, save for thousands of wind turbines stretching all the way to the horizon. However, RV travelers in the know realize that there are little hidden secrets in the Panhandle waiting to be discovered, and a mere 10 miles off the Interstate a Grand Adventure awaits in the second biggest canyon in the entire United States. Join us this week as we explore Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Cadillac Ranch and the Jack Sisemore RV Musem in Amarillo!

    The Palo Duro Canyon looked beautiful. Lots of color.
    That looked like quite a remarkable collection of RV’s! I’m surprised that it was free. My wife and I recently went to an RV show. After a while, they all look alike. The ones in this video have so much character and are probably built way better than today’s RV’s.
    Cadillacs was the least favorite in this video. I remember seeing the original pictures of what they looked like. Now it just looks like piles of graffiti. I would probably pass on this one.

    I have palo duro on my radar but I do not think i will be visiting any time soon (maybe later in the years). It just does not work for someone traveling cross country. I would love to appreciate it over a week, hike and all that.. not gun ho passing by.
    Caddilac ranch thing... i drove by it twice but because I am so long and I was hauling it both ways it was difficult to make that stop. Grr. looks pretty cool but also a little umm... just something rubs me the wrong way seeing paint sprayed all over the ground and crops and you can see from drone shots like someone was intentionally painting all the mowed gravel. Hard to believe its "overspray"... likely venue selling paint is "clearing out cans before recycling".
    Was really cool to see rv museum, especially the tear drop. My first ever rv was a little guy silver shadow tear drop. That's what got me into rving.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  2 года назад

      I personally had mixed emotions on the "overspray" (we'll call it that, even though it's not). The colored leaves of corn stalks caught my eye enough to capture it on film, but it's certainly not the most environmentally friendly gesture.
      Next time you pass through Amarillo give that RV museum a stop. You'll need a good hour to take it all in. It's created by the owners of a local RV dealership and they've assembled a truly fascinating collection.
