I so agree with this! I think they had in their minds that they are Mac and no one can compete with them AND the fact that it’s 2021 and they are still testing on animals. They dropped the ball big time
Stila just launched a whole new collection and I love their classic products but unfortunately you don’t see a lot of influencers talking about them anymore! I don’t know why because it’s good stuff!
I have actually bought drug store that is better then high end. I feel brands need to focus on dry skin and dont claim it's for dry skin if it's not. There is a tin of makeup for younger skin. I have many ideas I could give these makeup brands
This video shows how much influencers like Manny are real experts of their industry. Like how can he know and remember all these things about the products?!?😲 I would hire him as a consultant if I was a make up brand
I definitely remember when MAC was in charge of the girls, like they set the standard. Especially with their lipsticks but the definitely messed the social media train. Also with Colour Pop, I agree. I eventually stopped paying attention because they come out with SO MUCH content. It’s overwhelming.
With Too faced, the whole “rich lives matter” cake thing turned me off. Also some of their products kinda look like Claire’s makeup, sorry 🤷🏽♀️ With Tarte, the shape tape foundation launch and their practically nonexistent shade range did them in for me. With Becca, exactly what Manny said. ABH fell off for me when they released three billion palettes in 2019. They were releasing almost as much as Colourpop and they are no where near as affordable as Colourpop. Also I feel like Norvina has kinda tainted the prestige and vibe that ABH had. They def should have been more honest with the Norvina brand. With Mac, I want their new collections to be like their old ones. I want them to put thought into them. They had iconic products and collections like the Barbie, Rihanna, Disney Villains, the Simpsons. The creativity is just not there for me anymore. Colourpop needs to just slow down and like Manny said restock their site. I think Urban Decay needs to be added to the list. Their launches are boring now, I think they need to go back to their edgy vibe instead of focusing on the naked line so much. Also Stila and Benefit, I feel like it’s crickets over there. My Instagram is sheyla_taina
Agreed on urban decay! They also changed their satin lipstick bullet formula like five years ago and it went from my fave formula to being really dry and tacky (texture)
I dont mind the new collections. I dony neccesarily buy them all, wait, I have recently. I do love their 5 palette shadows. But if they didnt launch new things we wouldnt have a selection for different skin types. Their new blush is so good, for me. I have severe dry skin ,because age mostly. It's a bitch trying to find real products for mature dry skin. Even products claiming to aim at dry skin, yeah, let me tell you. 90% of the time that's bot true. I didnt realize when I was younger just how much my skin texture would change. I'm 47 and this year I've noticed the dryness big time. It's like it happened over night.
I wish colourpop would maintain a “permanent line”. There are products of theirs that are holy grails for me but I’m so scared they’ll just disappear like everything else on the site. And they don’t ever restock anything because they’re too busy dropping a collection once a week. @pri.Mary.colors
Urban Decay “died”... After the launch of Naked 3, it felt like other brands began to match UD and then surpass in quality and color choices. PS: I love you! (IG - lookhashtagfierce)
The thing is, a ton of makeup brands are not cruelty free and are still successfull and being talked about, i don't understand why only mac is looked down for that, because for other brands it's not so metioned, but always when someone mentions mac some people always bring that up and even though I would love all of them to be, some that aren't are still thriving
Tarte!!! I always think how out of touch they became with their customers. I can’t remember the last time one of their releases remotely excited me. Like it’s been years!! No one even talks about Shape Tape anymore...
It wasn’t only the brands, the audience became so toxic to a point that I didn’t enjoy makeup at all. Oversaturated market. The best decision I made was to unfollow trendmood.
Yes!!! They were the SHIT with the og Naked pallettes, UD and Mac were the only high end brands you could buy in my country for years, before Sephora opened
yes I totally agree!! I wanted to buy the naked skin foundation only to find out it's been discontinued.......... that was the one I only really wanted and it's gone.
@@jazzyfizzle7975 It’s almost like they aren’t targeting anyone anymore though. Like Clinique and Lancôme and other brands like that obviously target the older generation, with their ads in women’s magazines and models being in that age group.. but MAC still uses very young models and advertises in places that the new generation view/shop. Yet they don’t make products for the new generation? Something’s out of sync
Thank you. I stopped using Mac bc our dermatologist said their products lead to breakouts. Sad bc I loved studiofix and concealers but can’t ⚖️also, not cruelty free?
To be honest I think Urban Decay should have been on the list too. No one is buying their naked pallets so they have so many discount sales going on in their websites.
In addition to the constant launches, Colourpop’s lack of inclusive launches for deeper skin tones is upsetting. You would think that a brand that is launching a new collection every other day could create more shades that would work on a variety of skin tones.
To be honest, I feel like makeup as a whole is losing its magic. I feel like the no makeup - makeup is really trendy right now and it really feels like nobody cares about new products or tutorials are anything like that. i hope it comes back around tho bc that was the best era of youtube.
Yeah I guess it’s the times too. In this pandemic I haven’t worn makeup tbh or just the no makeup makeup look. It’s not realistic to wear a full face when I’m not going anywhere hahaha
Yep gen z and the new tic toc influencers are into the natural no makeup thing and our makeup Gurus are turning into lifestyle influencers. I think the makeup phase died sadly
URBAN DECAY! They've beat the "Naked horse" to death! They need to stop putting Naked in front of palettes and come out with something new. Naked's moment came and went.
Colourpop is literally fast fashion but in the makeup world. I used to think they were so fun and cool, and now I can’t think of anything from them that stands out.
ABH fell off for me when they launched one palette after another. Some of us can’t keep up because it’s not the most affordable brand out there. Color Pop is at least more affordable but loosing interest if there’s a new collection every 3 days. Would definitely be down for part 2!
I feel like MAC was almost everyone’s introduction to makeup for young girls. They were the first big brand I heard about and bought but you don’t really hear about them anymore. Insta @maggiriveraxo
MAC was my first high end makeup. I used to literally leave my work shift on payday and go straight to MAC. I’d get three or four new eyeshadows every payday. Good times. Wish they still had that vibe today.
I think a lot of people dropped them when they decided to sell in China and thus not being cruelty free anymore. It was one of the only high end mua brands to be cruelty free.
Urban Decay: Where's the edge? get ahead of the curve, you were always one step ahead! This brand could have been all stacked for a Euphoria collection ...
Dude fr I also miss how they used to do those themed holiday palettes that looked like pop up books i think the alice in wonderland one was the last one they did
I feel like Tarte and Too Faced need to have a meeting. Tarte's products are boring and dusty ( those palettes that make everything look grey?? come on sis. ) and Too Faced's products are too cutesy and gimmicky ( these childish smelly holiday lines ). If they met somewhere in the middle it would be a big win!
I’m surprised NARS didn’t make your list. I feel like they were huge for awhile with Laguna bronzer, orgasm blush, etc., but they kinda lost momentum the last few years.
Manny, I truly admire your diplomacy & tactfulness in executing such a sensitive topic so beautifully & inoffensively! You literally have no mean bone in your body🥰 Love to see constructive criticisms given with so much kindness & respect. Kudos on a job well done 👍👍👍
Too many launches that their products are starting to lose value. Already 8 collections this month and very similar to previous palettes & products. I wish they would let each collection stand on its own.
same! i love mini products because i dont necessarily put makeup on everyday, and this is easier for me to try luxury products without spending too much
I don’t have a problem with colourpop, however I think urban decay has fallen off the bandwagon. They haven’t put out anything interesting in years! I used to be obsessed with them but honestly now I turn to colourpop for most my makeup and that’s why I don’t think they have fallen off. Yeah the collections are a lot and I wish there wasn’t so much, but the quality has always been there and they are well thought through, plus they are affordable. Kylie has also fallen off, like what was that grinch collection. Like at least colourpop takes feedback for the most part. Ig:marymotch11
I love how respectful he is while talking about these brands. This is how we give constructive criticism, well done Manny! Ps. Would love to win the giveaway :) @teakrsic on instagram
My whole thing with ABH was when they tried to partner with Rodan and Fields. As an Esthetician and makeup artist it was kind of a stab in the back that they would support people selling skincare out of their homes with no actual license. Glad that never went through though
My advice would be to all brands: slow down releases back to back so we can cherish the items, I’d love to see more shades and tones for different skin types AND showing off different type of models too. We’d love diversity. IG: @theradpineapple
A brand that fell off for me is Benefit. I don't see anything innovative from them at all anymore, just a lot of palettes with different combinations of the bronzers and blushes that they already have. Their browproducts are incredible though, I CANNOT live without my precisely my brow pencil :P insta is @julieskoov
This is the kind of video the beauty community needs. Honest, respectful feedback on what each brand can improve on. Couldn’t agree more with all that you said. And I think we also need to talk about how in general we all feel so done with and over celebrity make up line. It has become so commonplace that it’s so hard to even get excited for it, anymore. Manny, thank you for being your funny, honest, no nonsense self, now & always. You are just what the community needs - thank you for being you!
TOTALLY AGREE re: too faced 😓 I haven’t bought anything from them in a really long time. Can’t remember the last time I used anything from them on my channel 👀
It’s like we’re worn out with these makeup brands and Sephora in general. There were too many launches there for awhile, I’m glad they slowed down this past year. Having less, but more thought out launches will be a huge benefit to the industry. Let us enjoy our new purchases before popping off with a new launch every month
I’d like to see colourpop focus on their international customers, improving international shipping would bring more revenue than all these new pallets that just get lost
Honestly, I think that if makeup brands continue to work with the beauty community on RUclips that would be the best move. Because personally when new makeup products hit the stores I ALWAYS watch reviews on RUclips before making that purchase. Especially if it is a high-end brand. This is exactly why I subscribed to you because you are the most honest and genuine person. I actually value your reviews so much. ❤️
I feel like colorpop needs to slow down a lot bc everytime i go on their site there’s a new releases and it’s so much and too much for people to enjoy the release they got without getting overwhelmed
MAC was the #1 back in the day!! I was one of those brides and had gotten my makeup for my wedding from MAC. I was really excited for the Selena collection they put out. But thought they could have done so much more with it!!I would love to see them make a comeback!💄
I feel like Mac has always been a brand that has turned their nose up at other brands & behaved like they were just so good that they would never have to resort to the “filth” of social media & internet. They truly dropped the ball & missed so many opportunities to hold the throne & keep their crown so to speak because of their “holier than thou” attitude during the ENORMOUS makeup craze that occurred over the past decade. I mean, even their launches deeply reflect just how far they’ve fallen. There are SO MANY brands, both old & new that have FAR EXCEEDED Macs quality & pricing & I don’t believe the brand EVER anticipated that happening - I’m not even sure they realize it yet either! They’ve ridden their high-horse for SO LONG, & never even realized that there were MANY brands that totally outdid them & continue to outshine the Mac name. I don’t think they will EVER be that one brand to hold the crown & stay above all others again - unless they came up with some magic makeup created by real magicians lol. Mac REALLY dropped the ball, they just couldn’t “be seen with the likes of the inferiors” lol & it’s a shame too bcz imo, they haven’t grown or changed as a brand AT ALL in at least 8-10 yrs.
Allyson i completely agree with you.. thats what happens for not being humble. For thinking arrogantly oh look were the best brand in the beauty community nothing will ever happen to us. Then boom all these indie makeup brands come out with awesome colabs and then mac is left in the dark and never heard of again
I would say that urban decay is another brand that I think kind of fell off, I know they still produce new things here and there but I don't feel as though its a brand that I hear about much anymore. Insta- @cheyspace
For me, personally, Anastasia Beverly Hills. I feel like they cheapened their brand so much by releasing so many palettes. I used to get excited when ABH came out with new palettes, it felt like a seasonal item. Now I’m bored. IG: @nellyhatesjelly
Mac always makes me feel insecure when I go in their stores, like I don't fit their look, or idea of the kind of person they want wearing their makeup. I always just get this look and no one ever asks to help me, so I haven't purchased anything from them in a while.
I feel like a big problem with a lot of makeup brands nowadays is that they feel like they have to try to keep constantly putting products out or people won't buy. Like Colourpop it's like they're afraid people will forget about them and so they just push product out and never focus on specific areas. IG: mangobunny98
Two types of brands falling out: becoming oversaturated / too many releases, or being boycotted due to lack of social awareness, diversity or just being crap people IG: @ohmy_stellar
Tarte’s whole vibe just isn’t it for me, it feels like kid’s makeup🤷♀️ and colourpop oh my god sis SLOW DOWN with the launches it’s so frustrating when you place an order for a new item and the very next day they come out with another thing you like.
Tartes vibe (IMHO) is like, hippie/free spirit.... Maybe for older people. That's how I perceive them and that's why I love them. I'm older and very into the rainforest vibe and save the turtles and all. 😉
Having brands hire an influencer as a consultant is such a great idea because then they have a more direct connection to their customers and can help them understand that a zero pigment foundation is not the best idea 🙊
Hi manny, I loved that you made this video the idea is great .... I feel that high-end brands will always be strong because they have products that we all love, but lately we have seen small brands with innovative and super accessible products that have grown a lot and I like the idea of also supporting these small companies. it's just what i think, love youuu❣️
Too many brands are spitting makeup out like fast fashion. They’re not thinking about longevity and keeping their loyal customers. It’s all about chasing after the trends and less about quality and establishing a connection with their consumers. Great video, Manny. I’m glad I resubbed. 😊

I so agree with this! I think they had in their minds that they are Mac and no one can compete with them AND the fact that it’s 2021 and they are still testing on animals. They dropped the ball big time
After finding out how they treated Nikkie I just can’t support too face anymore.... name is very fitting I guess
WHERE IS STILA? I haven’t heard about a launch in years...
Girl yes!! That’s the brand I suggested on his IG pole for this video
They did a collab with Beachwaver (I think) but that only had one product with the curling iron
wondering the same thing!??
Stila just launched a whole new collection and I love their classic products but unfortunately you don’t see a lot of influencers talking about them anymore! I don’t know why because it’s good stuff!
They fell so far off we forgot they existed...
I definitely feel like drugstore brands are taking over - y’all see Milani and Elf? No one doing it like them these days 💅🏼
I have actually bought drug store that is better then high end. I feel brands need to focus on dry skin and dont claim it's for dry skin if it's not. There is a tin of makeup for younger skin. I have many ideas I could give these makeup brands
Agree! The mint melt and cc cream are everything for elf right now and I've always loved milani too!
Also some of their products kinda look like Claire’s makeup, sorry 🤷🏽♀️
With Tarte, the shape tape foundation launch and their practically nonexistent shade range did them in for me.
100% with the "rich lives matter" thing. Poor taste for sure on that one!
Agreed on urban decay! They also changed their satin lipstick bullet formula like five years ago and it went from my fave formula to being really dry and tacky (texture)
What was the rich lives matter thing?
Yes! Came to the comments just to say Urban Decay!
UD was THE BRAND abd now i just don't know
I’d love to see colourpop focus on restocking best sellers instead of just launching a new collection every three days.
The out of stock issue in the industry as a whole is frustrating and has turned me off. Im buying less and sticking to drug store now.
Yes "limited edition" is losing it's magic. For me my mind says why buy a product I may fall in love with, but can't replace it when it runs out.
Same drug store is my go to now.
Same!
I wish colourpop would maintain a “permanent line”. There are products of theirs that are holy grails for me but I’m so scared they’ll just disappear like everything else on the site. And they don’t ever restock anything because they’re too busy dropping a collection once a week. @pri.Mary.colors
Agree. Eyepencils, brow gel and brow pencils are always out of stock🤨
They’ve put out over 10 collections just this MONTH! 🤦🏼♀️ they need to chillllllll and restock
Urban Decay “died”... After the launch of Naked 3, it felt like other brands began to match UD and then surpass in quality and color choices.
PS: I love you! (IG - lookhashtagfierce)
Also the quality went down SOOOOO much !
MAC neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds to stop 👏🏼 discontinuing 👏🏼 amazing 👏🏼 OG 👏🏼 products.
I feel like so many people look down on MAC these days because they aren’t cruelty free!
That’s why I don’t own any Mac products.
Because they are boring
Same that’s why I won’t buy any Mac or Benefit cosmetics
Mac is such a quality brand, but they feel a little lazy with branding and updating
No one even talks about Shape Tape anymore...
lemme just add... REVLON. literally I can’t remember the last time they came out with something attention-grabbing lol.
Jodi I agree! Especially when so many drugstore brands like L’Oréal and Maybelline have stepped up their game
Yess don’t buy their makeup much
Their colorstay foundation is my best color match ever but they changed the formula and my heart is broken
I agree! I hated when they changed all their mascara.. my ride or die was from Revlon and then I had to find a new one! 😩
But the have drugstore well known products
It wasn’t only the brands, the audience became so toxic to a point that I didn’t enjoy makeup at all. Oversaturated market. The best decision I made was to unfollow trendmood.
True
I feel like Urban Decay kind of fell off too and that hurts my heart.
Yes!!! They were the SHIT with the og Naked pallettes, UD and Mac were the only high end brands you could buy in my country for years, before Sephora opened
Yes I feel that too
That's my #1 fall off
yes I totally agree!! I wanted to buy the naked skin foundation only to find out it's been discontinued.......... that was the one I only really wanted and it's gone.
@@tesspalmer992 I agree. This broke my heart. Born to Run was pretty good, but not great 🤷🏻♀️
MAC just doesn’t really want to acknowledge the new generation...
MAC targets a different demographic and that’s ok!
I still use Mac studio fix but that is it!
Thank you. I stopped using Mac bc our dermatologist said their products lead to breakouts. Sad bc I loved studiofix and concealers but can’t ⚖️also, not cruelty free?
and they’re not cruelty free!! the younger generation i feel recognizes that as a much more important issue than older generation.
I feel like Smashbox is another brand that you just don’t hear a lot about but also you don’t see their promotions or anything about them anymore.
Same, also Stila.
Yass was my first thought when I seen this video ❤️
Also, the balm!
my dad is a carpenter and worked on the house of the founders of Tarte back in the early 2000s. they gave him some of their very first lip glosses.
Man, he probably didnt realize what a nice gift that was. Well not for him anyway. That's so cool
To be honest I think Urban Decay should have been on the list too. No one is buying their naked pallets so they have so many discount sales going on in their websites.
Yes!!
And benefit - the 50s white only theme isn’t really Gen Z friendly
In addition to the constant launches, Colourpop’s lack of inclusive launches for deeper skin tones is upsetting. You would think that a brand that is launching a new collection every other day could create more shades that would work on a variety of skin tones.
To be honest, I feel like makeup as a whole is losing its magic. I feel like the no makeup - makeup is really trendy right now and it really feels like nobody cares about new products or tutorials are anything like that. i hope it comes back around tho bc that was the best era of youtube.
Ya i feel same i feel like this all becomes too much everyday new makeup brand or new makeup release 😕
Yeah I guess it’s the times too. In this pandemic I haven’t worn makeup tbh or just the no makeup makeup look. It’s not realistic to wear a full face when I’m not going anywhere hahaha
@@stephanierios16 or when you’re gonna wear a mask all day anyways. Like foundation and lipgloss, don’t know them anymore
@Danielle Lou AGREE. They definitely needed a time out 😂
Yep gen z and the new tic toc influencers are into the natural no makeup thing and our makeup Gurus are turning into lifestyle influencers.
MAC is like Estée Lauder now. They have their staple products that everyone loves and will always use and that’s where their bread and butter is.
Mac is Estée Lauder.
agreed!
Exactly. I will ALWAYS and forever buy their studio fix concealer, fix plus and studio fix powder...also my everyday lip gloss in c thru ♥️
MAC is owned by Estee Lauder
Same with benefit
Tarte fell off after that shade range atrocity... that was the breaking point for me.
Insta: ariel.crawford
Was also going to comment this. 👏🏻
ABH fell off for me when they launched one palette after another. Some of us can’t keep up because it’s not the most affordable brand out there.
Color Pop is at least more affordable but loosing interest if there’s a new collection every 3 days.
Would definitely be down for part 2!
Not Manny coming through with the cute background!
I think in general he makeup community is over saturated with launches, like Im still using up things I bought like a year ago
same.
Omgggg your eyes are like a Caribbean sunset and now I want a Peeny Colada 😭
Piña colada
@@analiafirpo5192 I'm sure Nady knew exactly what he was typing lmao🤣
Will 100% be calling it a peeny from now on
A peeny colada 😂😂😂😂
Bruh lol
I want colourpop to stop coming out with launches every week. I really want more restocks for products that have been sold out for months
This brand could have been all stacked for a Euphoria collection ...
omg if they sold like lashes, stones, glitters, face balms ...... WOW obsessed with that idea
Dude fr
I also miss how they used to do those themed holiday palettes that looked like pop up books i think the alice in wonderland one was the last one they did
I still love UD but yeah they need glitter, glam and that edginess back.
Urban decay was never the same after L'Oreal bought it.
I remember when Urban Decay was IT for makeup but now there's not a single thing that excites me about them. Everything is just dull to me
Naked was my first ever “fancy” palette I ever bought
@@xojackxo same! And I haven't gotten anything from them since 😅
Right their palettes and foundation used to be it
YES 👏🏽
I thinks everyone forgot about Lorac even in videos like this
Hope everyone is having a GORGA day!!
I feel like they were huge for awhile with Laguna bronzer, orgasm blush, etc., but they kinda lost momentum the last few years.
they've been killing the base products especially the matte complete range
I absolutely adore nars foundations, they always make the skin beautiful. Think they could have a larger colour range however.
They may be in the part 2 if Manny does one
Manny, I truly admire your diplomacy & tactfulness in executing such a sensitive topic so beautifully & inoffensively!
You literally have no mean bone in your body🥰
Love to see constructive criticisms given with so much kindness & respect. Kudos on a job well done 👍👍👍
I don’t think colorpop “fell off” I just think they have way too many launches!!
Insta: rogers_ashton06
Their products suck
Too many launches that their products are starting to lose value. Already 8 collections this month and very similar to previous palettes & products. I wish they would let each collection stand on its own.
I agree
And they don’t care about black people
Yeah I miss the days when everyone was excited for one palette launching and you tubers would show you several looks with that same new palette
Also the nasty behaviour that’s happened from TOO FACED makes it EXTRA NO ❌❌❌
I'd really appreciate more mini size products across all brands.
yes! I hate throwing product away because they expire.
same! i love mini products because i dont necessarily put makeup on everyday, and this is easier for me to try luxury products without spending too much
I don’t have a problem with colourpop, however I think urban decay has fallen off the bandwagon.
Ps. Would love to win the giveaway :) @teakrsic on instagram
stila had their liquid eyeshadow moment & then disappeared lmao
Omg so true! Where’d they go??! Lol
omg i completely forgot about stila LOL do they still exist? i genuinely can’t remember the last product they released
Manny forgetting the word “boss” and replacing it with “church leader” 💀💀
Nars is another brand who lost their magic. They keep pushing Org*sm. I do want to try their cheek palette though. My ig is craycraycait
MADnessmakeup yes!!!! I agree
And to all these brands maybe we could add Morphe. There was a time everyone was talking about their palettes especially 35O palette))
I disagree 😌
@@Chronicallyonlinegay44 Morphe is shitty ass hell
Because of their formulas! People backed them up as long as their formula is good. But they're crap for the price.
I was shocked not to see UD on here
I used to looove urban decay, now i just like the products that are staples
I was surprised he didn’t mention UD honestly lol
I love how humble, and honest you still are. Love you! God bless you.
I’d love for urban decay to be grungy again! They’ve been so lack luster for the last couple of years
For me, personally, Anastasia Beverly Hills.
Love how honest you are while still being respectful at the same time
Two types of brands falling out: becoming oversaturated / too many releases, or being boycotted due to lack of social awareness, diversity or just being crap people
IG: @ohmy_stellar
Tarte’s whole vibe just isn’t it for me, it feels like kid’s makeup🤷♀️ and colourpop oh my god sis SLOW DOWN with the launches it’s so frustrating when you place an order for a new item and the very next day they come out with another thing you like.
you are SO right!! especially about tarte oml 💀💀
I think tarte is just for people who like natural makeup.
Tartes vibe (IMHO) is like, hippie/free spirit.... Maybe for older people. That's how I perceive them and that's why I love them. I'm older and very into the rainforest vibe and save the turtles and all. 😉
@@ninavanway ohh I could totally see that! I guess I’m thinking more of like sugar rush
Y’all my Fiancée even walks around singing “ Back and the brows are filled...” 😂 Clearly we love your channel! ✨🤍😘
This is the type of content we need! More beauty talking and less buying everything on sight
I just wanna say how much I love your humor, Manny! Your personality makes my day so much better. I just started following you and really think your opinion is true. Thanks for everything you do! I'm just gonna keep on catching up on old videos! 🥰
Yes yes yes on a part 2, please! 🙏🏻
Also, I work for MAC - it breaks my heart to say this, but I do agree with what you said there. Sad, sad truth.
