I was listening to the radio,, had a fever, not feeling well,,, early hours, skipping through channels, came across a very weird piece of music,, thought it was Joanna newsom,,, did alot of hunting around and finally found it,,,, wow,,, and i thought it was my fever,, this piece of music is just so weird, different and wonderful.... what a gem.
Yes, I too. Unwell and truly off the planet late one night... Hearing this drifting back and forth. It was on Radio 3 Night Tracks again last night, last track... BANG.
Thanks Elma, I was in Derry last week and a friend put me on to this emotive piece of work. At the 0:35, I can see my mum (Alice) sitting on the steps of the Star Factory (front row 4th from left)
I just heard this on local radio station and was compelled to find out who it was. Derry/Londonderry is my home town and this piece of music is so evocative and conveys, in such a haunting & moving way, how proud we are of the Factory Girls. My own mother worked in one very briefly and always said we wouldn't go into it because it was so hard...Amazing music.
Made me nostalgic for my home city, listening in pandemic lockdown in Montreal.
