This is one I P500 & after seeing this unboxing and just how beautiful the components look, I can't wait for my copy to arrive. I loved Hunters and your glowing review of it. The fact that you're a play tester for this game assures me that this will live up to & might even join that enshrined hall member as a game for the ages!
Thanks for the video, Derek! Just got mine today as well! :) FYI, Consim Press has released an errata sheet & a torpedo load sheet. There's also on BGG's SV forum about a possible adjustment when attacking escorted ships. I sorted cheated on this game. I started playing it when the Vassal mod was released last Sat. :) As a playtester, you should be proud about this game! Happy Hunting!
Thanks for a very informative and entertaining unboxing video, Derek. I wanted to quickly point out that on those charts and tables, we included a lot of the tables that for HUNTERS were only listed in the rules. Tried to consolidate everything to enhance game play and ease of use. Take care!! John
Great unboxing vid. I'm a big fan of the route maps; I was one of many who printed out a large world map made by an intrepid BGG player (koisyev?) and used it for The Hunters. Some may consider it a minor prop, but I thought it added quite a bit to the solo gaming narrative. I feel the same about the ones included in Silent Victory. Additionally... Can't think of a better playtester to have for the game. Great work, Derek.
I enjoyed The Hunters (1st edition that I have, anyway), but thought it could use just a little more here & there. After opening my Silent Victory box & starting on the rules earlier this week, I think this sequel has hit that sweet spot!
+Sylvain Hebert Howdy Sylvain :) They're both fantastic games and cover their respective theaters quite well (Atlantic/Pacific). While SV is a bit of an upgrade in terms of components, I can't really recommend one over the other. I have both and they are permanent parts of my arsenal of wargames :) If it's got to be one or the other, I'd say go with the one that interests you most. German U-Boats in the Atlantic? Hunters. American subs vs. Japanese? SV. I will say SV is a bit more survivable. The Americans did win their silent war, after all. Hunters becomes much more difficult to survive as the war progresses and allied ASW efforts improve. Either way, I don't think you'll be disappointed :)
Thank you Derek..As always your opinion is always welcomed :)...Well I'll have to go with SV since the Hunters is out of stock here :) Thanks alot and I love your channel...Oh BTW are you backing Warfighter ww2??...I am :)
We also now have the Vassal Module available for the game. You can download it here: www.vassalengine.org/wiki/Module:Silent_Victory:_U.S._Submarines_in_the_Pacific,_1941-45
So how frustrating are the dud torpedoes in the early stages of the war? If it's as accurate as Silent War, I might as well shave my head and be done with it. lol. Seriously, I'm sure some of those sub crews would of liked to kidnap the guys who refused to believe their claims about how bad those early torpedoes were and fire them out one of the tubes.

I am :) My job was mainly to find errors and historical boo-boos. Spent a lot of time with this game. There's a little piece of me in there :)

Thanks for the video. Looking forward to get a copy from a store.
I am all in ... just bought this game and its' predecessor ! Let's sink some tonnage (and hope to survive!). :D
Love it! GAme looks awesome. Would you ever upload a full game play video?
I'll be doing a review and possibly a Nuts & Bolts turn walk through :)
George Monnart,
You can order directly from GMT game website or any internet game store.
Corrected the link
I so want this to appear in a UK FLGS! It is just too expensive to order direct from GMT from over the pond. It looks the bees.
I'm not certain, but I think GMT works with a couple overseas distributors. Send them an email and ask? Can't hurt.
Mine is awaiting me when I get home.
The FB link above isn't working for me. Where can I order a copy?
Sorry about that George. I put the wrong link in the video description. Corrected :)

Not likely for Onus... Looked into it awhile back. Didn't look like my cup of tea. But if I come across a copy? Who knows?

The torpedo problems of both the Germans and the Americans in WWII are legendary.
Sirens Too!!!
LOL! Yeah...neighborhood noise. One of the hazards of the garage also being your film studio :P
+SingleHandedWarfare The sirens are sounding, why you ask, because I just received the game in the mail!
Enjoy :)
