This song is apparently inspired by the 1991 Denise Huber murder. Denise was stranded on the side of the road on night due to a flat tire after being at a bar. She was approached by a man and he kidnapped her, dragged her, and took her down to his mother's home's basement and tortured Denise. He raped, beat, and punctured her skull with a nail gun. He then proceeded to murder her, dismember her body, and put all of her limbs in a garbage bag(s). The man bought a freezer and put Denise's body inside. She stayed there for three years, until 1994. She was found by the murderer foolishly stealing a truck, putting the freezer inside, and plugging it up to his mother's home (for 3 years). The truck was reported and everything was solved from there.
Lyrics in case y'all wanted them: Have you seen me? I’ve been wandering Out by the road Trying to get home He used the garbage bag and nail gun Do you think i look like someone You could use to have fun? I tried to run But he’s not done with me The flowers grow between A retainer full of teeth I told him he could shoot me But for him i would not scream Did you know me? Have you seen me on your TV? They’re still looking Do you like me when I have no face? Hog tied and bound by black duct tape I told him that I cannot breathe He said I want you to scream for me The flowers grow between A retainer full of teeth I told him he could shoot me But for him i would not scream Have you seen me? Have you seen me? Have you seen me? Have you?
I was in a very abusive relationship once in my early 20s. I know this is about a true crime story, so my story and scenario is different, but as someone who has had their partner threaten to kill them, the "I told him he could shoot me, but for him I would not scream" line hits so hard. You may hurt me, I may be scared as shit and scared for my life, but I refuse to give you the satisfaction of letting you know that I'm scared. I will keep a straight face and try to not give you the satisfaction of that, because you seem to relish in my fear and hurting me makes you feel better, for whatever reason. And that's what abusive men want: they want control and to make you hurt. They want to make you feel bad and hurt you because they're taking their own mental health issues out on you. They want to intimidate you in order to feel more powerful. They want you to submit to their toxicity because because them making you feel bad makes themselves feel better about how they feel bad and their own shortcomings. If they are hurt or are unhappy, than other people should feel hurt or unhappy too. I may not have been able to fight back in certain scenarios because he was stronger than me, but for me, in the end, when he would threaten me I'd just try to not react, as hard as it was. You've beaten the shit out of me a bunch already, but I'm tired of seeing you get a weird kick and power trip out of my fear of you. I'm still scared, but I won't scream. I'll just let you freak out, maybe even break my things or hit me for the hundredth time, threaten to kill me for the 20th time, but after you've calmed down and passed out because you're not getting the reaction you want from me, I'll leave. And eventually I left and never went back. I'm forever thankful for that. But the "I told him he could shoot me, but for him I would not scream" line reminds me of that, and it makes me feel less alone, even though this artists reasoning behind that line is very different than mine and actually way more sad. I was never killed like the girl this was written about, but I've definitely dealt with angry and unhinged men with anger issues that could potentially greatly harm other people. He definitely made me fear for my life on multiple occasions, he definitely threatened to shoot me. I really appreciate when art reflects on dark, twisted stuff like that because it makes me feel less alone. Because shit like that actually does happen, but people don't really like listening to you if you want to talk about it happening to you. They sonetimes don't know how to react to you telling them that your ex tried to kill you on multiple occasions and towards the end made it a habit to threaten your life. Other people making art about it or even relating to other people's art about it genuinely does help a bit.
i love the line “do you like me when i have no face” since it can be seen as a flaying/something of the sort, but having “no face” ties into the “have you seen me” on milk cartons. no face could mean an unidentified jane doe missing that no one can spot without a face to go by
Nicole is one of the best artists out there top 3 for me i love how sweet and innocent her voice can sound but has soke of the most darkest songs ever imaginable
One of my favorite Nicole Dollanganger songs even though i love all her music. Thank you for the wonderful work to go along with the song. What is this from?

She is unexpectedly metal as fuck at times.
Maialeen, that's my favorite part about her
i love this song. "the flowers grow between a retainer full of teeth" is such a strong line
I miss the old Nicole days! I hope she'll start getting to music like this again soon.

Have you seen me?
I’ve been wandering
Out by the road
Trying to get home
He used the garbage bag and nail gun
Do you think i look like someone
You could use to have fun?
I tried to run
But he’s not done with me
The flowers grow between
A retainer full of teeth
I told him he could shoot me
But for him i would not scream

Have you seen me on your TV?
They’re still looking
Do you like me when I have no face?
Hog tied and bound by black duct tape
I told him that I cannot breathe
He said I want you to scream for me
The flowers grow between
A retainer full of teeth
I told him he could shoot me
But for him i would not scream
Have you seen me?
Have you seen me?
Have you seen me?
Have you?

Nicole's songs get ever more disturbing, I love it.
