The turn rate limitation and recovery time looks appealing to me. Putting weight into everything is a classic mecha lover's dream. But putting it in a PvP scenario like this would kill the experience.
It does sound appealing to me too, but seeing the ttk seems to suggest that the game *wants* to be a twitchy shooter rather than the slow and methodical mecha game it could be. Idk maybe I'll try it for myself.
@@Hawk7886 Sadly this is true. MechWarrior is the gold standard for mech-sims and Armored Core is the gold standard for mech-cade games. The devs seemed to want to borrow from Tarkov but make the gameplay a mish-mash of simcade, and you just can't do that. The appeal of Tarkov is that it tries to be hyper-realistic with its weapon handling, movement, and ambiance. A mech game like that would be really cool, but it would need to be slow, plodding and designed much closer to Battletech or MechWarrior with coolant, heat-sinks, and physicalised armour, not an arcade-like experience like Armored Core, as that just makes no sense at all. Also, low TTK in a mech game is almost sacrilege. The whole point of mech games is about the deconstruction of the mech's parts, focusing on proper targeting and weapons aimed at taking out the arms or legs or heat cores. This game seems to be a mixed bag of all the worst elements of the games it's trying to mimic, which is a real shame.
I remember that this was shortly marketed as a cute anime mecha thing with gathering/fauna elements. Then there was some anime tie-in and now the game is at that "we'll tell you more, eventually" phase. But extraction shooter elements, P2W and waifu trafficking... what? If you didn't mention the title I'd have no idea what game you were even talking about. Another game to help sink Bamco further, I guess.
Yeah that mtx live service never was ideal to blend w/ extraction shooters. imagine the balancing. even extract shooters w/o it were already having a hard time.
Man the camera and movement reminds me of dealing with Gundam Battle Operation 2, it really just feels like they want everything to be slow both in the movement and cameras when dealing with mechs
I wound like a slow paced mech game, but it is hard to balance, like @browal14 said, if it is slow but the ttk is too fast the skill level of play is irrelevant and is luck based if you win or lose, and the 3th view point make it unfair to anyone hunting players (they can see others while thenselfs stay behind cover). Now this on a singleplayer only or PvE focused and separed maps for PvP or player flagged to PvP and i think i wound have a blast! I loved the Mech combat on Titanfall 2, but hated the on foot part of the game... if i wanted to play a fast paced fps the market is satured but mech we only have MW5 (and its old but gold) and nothing more.
The name of the studio is Game Dev Inc. Either these guys are the best developers ever or this studio will be shut down one week after the game releases.
I was wondering why the sprint sounded so familiar, then I remembered MGSV's walker unit and realized they lifted the controls whole-hog from it, shitty turn radius, leg design _and_ movement sound.
Turn-rate limits in TPS are great, as long as they're not linked to your camera. Try any heavy weapon in Helldivers 2 to see what I mean; you can 180 the camera with your mouse instantly, but your character and aiming circle will be much slower to catch up.
I would like the idea if the game's movement allowed you to take advantage of it in fights, but it doesn't really. Game's too slow for the mechanic to do anything but make aiming feel worse
Thx bruv. Surprised I made you laugh, my videos are pretty dry 'cause of my desire to avoid similarities with the RUclipsrs who edit fart sounds into their videos every 4 seconds. Maybe I'll sprinkle in some tasteful funnies in the future
all the mechs are pretty much the same weight and size, and they're all roughly 20 or so feet high, any smaller and they wouldn't be able to fit the backpack's for the ai waifus. And Flying mechs exist, they're just the same mechs but with different kinds of propulsion mounted to them with zero weight modifications, but according to the setting they won't exist for another 20 years after the game takes place.
It's weird to see someone complain about turn rate limits in a mech shooter. But, looking at the gameplay vs. Armored Core (which also has maximum turn/tracking mechanics), their implementation seems to be to lock the camera to the fire line as opposed to render the reticle differently.
Honestly if it played more like an Armored Core game, this would seem pretty fun (any Armored Core Era, first, second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth gen).
Separating the PvE and PvP is wise. I like Extraction shooters but generally hate having to PvP in order to experience them. I was one of the few people genuinely curious when I saw the e3 2011 Xcom fps trailer (an interesting twist on the setting, it just should have been a spin off AFTER a graphical overhaul of the original game) and tbh I’d still like for someone to make a Single player FPS campaign around that sort of progression system that’s not a rogue like. Helldivers scratched an itch I have had for years but I’m still waiting for a hunt showdown version of rust same kind of weird west experience. A mech variant could also be fun but this game looks sluggish and floaty as hell.
instead of a set turn limit on the mouse it needs to be a mouse turn rate and then a turret turn rate, so you can look around freely but your mech moves at the speed it should
I think the turncap would be much better applied as like the weapons trailing behind your point of aim, kind of like war thunder etc. I think having mechs actually feel like mechs is satisfying in a mech game, instead of it just being people doing flick shots etc. Personally I much prefer when mech games involve controls that actually feel like driving a vehicle and mastering that over it being a glorified third person shooter. I don't really get the appeal of this when it seems like they just picked the worst way of having it feel like controlling a mech, when its just like a shooter but forced low sensitivity.
The waifu leaving the mech and casting a spell + the name of the game is most likely related to the anime "Synduality: Noir". Most of the girls in the anime are Magus. The pilot, you/MC (pilots the mech), while waifu rides on the back of it, giving support and skills, at least that is sort of how the anime goes.
i beg to differ having a limited turn rate for mecha is what made it better! like, have you ever played the older versions of armroed core? like the 3rd gen? and someone who grew up playing armored core last raven, armored core silent line portable, and armored core verdict day, limited turning speed for aim is better for mecha games. and this hard lock on gives me the feels of the old armored core games(mostly 3rd gen). for the slow moving speed, dude, its a fucking mecha action game, not call of duty! that "recovery time" really reminds me of the old armored core energy mechanic from 3rd gen and below, you don't go wasting it, you need to manage it!
well all the attempts too make it feel heavy die in a hole when you die in 3 seconds of getting spotted any mech game has a higher time to kill to enforce the idea that while this machine is not super agile it can take a beating and with enough skill you come out alive
They shouldn't be slow moving though, these are COFFINS, not Battlemechs, they move at near break neck speeds, can turn near instantaneously and fast enough to move in stopped time. ruclips.net/video/SXVuYH3evW0/видео.htmlsi=AEyO7rXCel76tcJY
@@Courier-gq6ym There are way to make fast mecha game with turn speed. check out armored core 4 answer. the way they handle turn speed is that you can perform action call "Quick turn", this basically allow Mech to quickly turn in a second, making breakneck speed on console manageable despite having turn speed. Armored Core 6 have quick turn as well but its useless because they remove turn speed, making it redundant outside of during certain move.
this is the kind of mech physics i wanted, where mechs can drift for speed but are encouraged to walk and use cover tactically in combat. I'd like to see a mech warrior mercenaries type of game using these kind of mechs.

maybe they were aiming for more "Armored core" type of gameplay instead of generic shooter. But they forgot to add all the cool super fast mobility stuff from it
I feel like the speed wouldn't be as big an issue if the mechs felt more weighty. These look both slow _and_ weightless which is just such a bad combo. I was actually kinda hoping this game would have something like 5th armored core movement. It's a shame, I was really looking forward to this but it seems like a cheap monetization platform first and foremost, interesting PVPVE game like... 5th. They should add mechs and waifus to Hunt Showdown to make up for the hole in my heart left by this game.
mechs in the setting are supposed to be small and nimble, there should be practically no weight issues or slowness in their movements. @@Courier-gq6ym okay, then that just shifts my criticism to the setting as a whole? Look at these things. I feel like turnrate could be overcome with a "what youre targeting" vs "what youre actually aiming at" reticle. then you see your aim being your aim, and the mechs can still have different and balanced torso turn rates. this is how its done in Mechwarriors, for example...
Damn this would be the second mech online game I found out about. Though one is an Arena shooter and this one has more RPG elements to it. Both look interesting and cant wait to try them both.
Damn a mech extraction shooter would have been rad. Imagine if you are looking for an arm part for your build and you see somebody in the distance with that arm. If you can successfully jump them, imagine jettisoning your current arm attaching the new arm into the socket. Now you're walking around with a mismatched paint job till you get back to base.
Hm. Maybe make a faction that focuses on pve but with co operative incentives. Add larger bosses that might require the use of mechas to engage. Gunning down giant monsters with a small team of mechs sounds cool. Maybe max 3-4 players. Friendly fire still on because accidentally killing each other makes for fun stories. Or maybe not so accidental.
i saw this on recommendation in playstation store i kinda surprised since it show after titanfall 2 similar recommendations and maybe going to buy this while waiting stellar blade
I played the beta on PS5. I liked the anime, so, I was happy it is getting a game, but in reality... it was awful... it usually ran at 30-40 fps even in performance mode and there was a base in the lobby that could be upgraded. It was like in mobile games and if you developed something, it took real time, for example, you had to wait half an hour to develop the hangar. I know it was only a beta and the optimization can be better, but I don't think they will change the whole game until the release.
Thank you for introducing me to this game, it was completely out of my radar. If I can give you a suggestion, your current setup makes words that start with P super heavy with bass. Anyways, keep up the great work
The complaints about the camera sensitivity and movement are actually common features of every mech game I've played, even the issues with 3rd person aiming check out with games like MechWarrior. So this honestly looks like it could be a great game once they fix the map geo and rebalance the combat.
What's weird to me is that the mouse speed limit makes sense in terms of piloting the mech. I think it'd make more sense for the turning to instead follow your mouse, as opposed to being locked you your mouse, such that you can point wherever without limit, and the mech will turn to face the mouse. Mechwarrior does something similar, but the games that come to mind here are War Thunder and the Everspace titles. Im getting Exoprimal vibes with those menus, and I don't like it one bit.
For most Mech Shooters you will have a Turn Limit even when they're FPS/TPS's. Armored Core 6 and Titanfall are kinda an exception to the rule, it's a thing from the old MechWarrior, Armored Core, and Gungriffon games. Even MechWarrior 5/Clans, Online, and every Armored Core game made before 6 has it. You get used to it when the game is properly designed around it as a mechanic, since it makes movement, positioning, and coordinated aiming with how your legs move much more important. This isnt to defend this game in particular, it's just a quirk of many mech games.
Mecha players wanna see our mechs. So we like third person. I also like the feeling of weighty slow mechs. Like a tank with legs. But limited turn speed is horrible
U want to experience a game where ur mech's turn rate is limited and it's part of the core gameplay. Play gundam battle operations. I'm assuming their taking that as inspiration for how they want their combat flow since your mech's quality highly influences ur on field experience.
I agee with your assessment of the weapons. I think adding more burst weapons and damage falloff would make the gunplay more skillful. It's basically the TF2 approach (no ARs, close range and opportunity to dodge) and would work well if movement was less slow.
as a fan of both Titanfall and Tarkov, I will play this as soon as I can. Btw, having a dash and sprint mechanic with a cooldown that requires you to think before using it is a good choice. Not sure about that 3rd person view though.
I subscribe cuz i like the way you make a review on this vid. Good job for the remarks about the game its valid and accurate. the game looks good. kinda promising if only bandais not in charge haha.
It's a mech game that doesn't look horrible, and the constricted turn speed is a plus to me. There's a degree of skill, but skill will only take you so far when someone gets the drop on you. It makes it more tactical and less twitch-reaction based. The skill is in knowing how to deal with a situation, not pulling a win out your behind. Not that there won't likely be people who figure out a way to twist things and get their adrenaline high. But in the meantime the people who just want to chill and outthink their opponent get a chance to shine. That said, I like 3rd person in mech games because I get to see the mech. 1st person mech games feel wrong unless they add mech-type gimmicks; like mech warrior online does. The game knows what it wants to be, it's a mecha extraction 3rd person shooter and I'm here for it.
Mecha game either stick to focus on PvE or just PvP, you can not half assed it. It is hard to mixed the two gameplay, since the main purpose and principle of mecha is either you fight big ass monster bigger than you and many of them out there comming for you or you fight another mech piloted by other people from other side. And because of that, titanfall is by far the best mecha game out there aside from armored core or mechwarrior, where in some game mode, it is clear about the PvP aspect, but it implement some PvE with npc grunt soldier as extra point all around the map, it is fairly balanced from the mecha aspect where mecha is a clear deterent force in a battle to decide who win and who lose, and the player are the one who in control of those mech. We need titanfall 3 damn it

@darkdruidsvale The sad thing is that Tarkov with mech and ai waifus sounds amazing as a concept. If I didn't learn of all these technical and gameplay issues I would have bought the game without a second thought. I'll wait and see if they make good changes for the release.
@@Kryto_Gaming I’m in 100% agreement, I’ve yet to find out if Tarkov is a game genre I’d actually enjoy but mecha waifus would have definitely help as a “let’s just get good” motivator
@EJx6 this consumer mentality is one of the reasons why every product sucks shit nowadays
The cumulative design decisions literally add up to nonsense. Low TTK, P2W mechanics, weird framerate cap, horrible controls, bizarre camera placement... Nah, it's obvious the devs don't know what they're doing.
This looks remarkably like Phantom Crash, a similar game where you used AI Animals to assist you in piloting a mech. I freaking loved that game.
Gigachad mech game
Man the camera and movement reminds me of dealing with Gundam Battle Operation 2, it really just feels like they want everything to be slow both in the movement and cameras when dealing with mechs
weird they want slow heavy feel for the game but the time to kill is fitting for a fast pace arcade shooter
You would bring up Gundam 😔
@@Silver-Rexy blame banco
Could you imagine a screen asking you to pay 99 cents to get your waifu back from her kidnapper?
Game's too slow for the mechanic to do anything but make aiming feel worse
mechs with wifus?!
I'm sold!
Added to the Wishlist.
The first 3 seconds of a mech being animated like a human reloading a giant goofy sniper rifle already told me everything i needed to know.
Cheers mate, I've had this on my wishlist for a while now, had no idea it was a tarkov-like, not at all my cuppa, thanks for saving me the cash.
I don't know who you are, but you're the first RUclipsr that got me laughing at a game review since Ssethtzeentach.
Thx bruv. Surprised I made you laugh, my videos are pretty dry 'cause of my desire to avoid similarities with the RUclipsrs who edit fart sounds into their videos every 4 seconds. Maybe I'll sprinkle in some tasteful funnies in the future
@@MyndrrThe deadpan humor also hits me pretty well.
I can’t believe I’d love to see the day of PVP NTR game
0:32 Finally, we can have a Diogenes gf
The game is interesting, but I believe there should be more types of mechs, some with a light build that could fly for example, not just "heavy" ones.
all the mechs are pretty much the same weight and size, and they're all roughly 20 or so feet high, any smaller and they wouldn't be able to fit the backpack's for the ai waifus.
And Flying mechs exist, they're just the same mechs but with different kinds of propulsion mounted to them with zero weight modifications, but according to the setting they won't exist for another 20 years after the game takes place.
basically the game version of Synduality Series mainly Synduality: Noir
It's weird to see someone complain about turn rate limits in a mech shooter. But, looking at the gameplay vs. Armored Core (which also has maximum turn/tracking mechanics), their implementation seems to be to lock the camera to the fire line as opposed to render the reticle differently.
Honestly if it played more like an Armored Core game, this would seem pretty fun (any Armored Core Era, first, second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth gen).
reckon you'll check out mecha break when that comes out? curious to hear what your thoughts on it will be
I've played it under NDA, might make a video when that expires
@@Myndrr awesome, i look forward to it if you choose to do that
I can't wait for the inevitable Ssethzeentch and/or Maxor video on this. Likely sponsored by BandCo.
maxor is just bootleg sseth
Separating the PvE and PvP is wise. I like
Extraction shooters but generally hate having to PvP in order to experience them. I was one of the few people genuinely curious when I saw the e3 2011 Xcom fps trailer (an interesting twist on the setting, it just should have been a spin off AFTER a graphical overhaul of the original game) and tbh I’d still like for someone to make a
Single player FPS campaign around that sort of progression system that’s not a rogue like.
Helldivers scratched an itch I have had for years but I’m still waiting for a hunt showdown version of rust same kind of weird west experience.
A mech variant could also be fun but this game looks sluggish and floaty as hell.
instead of a set turn limit on the mouse it needs to be a mouse turn rate and then a turret turn rate, so you can look around freely but your mech moves at the speed it should
You had me at stealing waifus. 😆😆😆😆
"...you steal your enemy's waifu and sell them for money..."
In or out of context, that sounds messed up 🤣
The waifu leaving the mech and casting a spell + the name of the game is most likely related to the anime "Synduality: Noir".
Most of the girls in the anime are Magus. The pilot, you/MC (pilots the mech), while waifu rides on the back of it, giving support and skills, at least that is sort of how the anime goes.
i beg to differ
having a limited turn rate for mecha is what made it better!
like, have you ever played the older versions of armroed core? like the 3rd gen? and someone who grew up playing armored core last raven, armored core silent line portable, and armored core verdict day, limited turning speed for aim is better for mecha games.
and this hard lock on gives me the feels of the old armored core games(mostly 3rd gen).
for the slow moving speed, dude, its a fucking mecha action game, not call of duty!
that "recovery time" really reminds me of the old armored core energy mechanic from 3rd gen and below, you don't go wasting it, you need to manage it!
well all the attempts too make it feel heavy die in a hole when you die in 3 seconds of getting spotted any mech game has a higher time to kill to enforce the idea that while this machine is not super agile it can take a beating and with enough skill you come out alive
I get the intention, but the game plays nothing like AC3 tbh. It feels like Fortnite with some minor mecha mechanics on top
@@Myndrr lets just hope they improve it more before its official release
They shouldn't be slow moving though, these are COFFINS, not Battlemechs, they move at near break neck speeds, can turn near instantaneously and fast enough to move in stopped time.

After playing Titanfall 2, other mech games just feel weird to me.
Seems like it could also replace HAWKEN in our hearts. I approve.

@@Colonel-Sigma re-reading your comment I kinda assumed you were fantasising about lighting up the oil barrel with the waifu still inside 😂 which YOU DIDN'T, I'M SORRY, i misinterpreted. The thing is that an oil barrel in a mecha setting is indeed a dangerous place and when the topic is anime waifu people tend to have violent delights about murdering fictional girls (out of spite for the weebs) which sometimes you think is trolling but... a lot of times dudes are unironically this obsessively deranged over a (f)ucking cartoon. None of this applies to you.

Hopefully they work on it to be more difficult and enjoyable because the idea and the look of the game is so cool in my opinion.
Large hitboxes can be fine on things as long as you include good movement, cover and skills to counter it.
Thanks super helpful
A good turnarate limit is only annoying when you exceed the cap. Its what makes it feel mecha
bamco tries to not make weird ass game entry and abondon one of their random IP for 5 second challenge
maybe they were aiming for more "Armored core" type of gameplay instead of generic shooter.
This is how a junker built 20 years after the events of this game using spare parts moves despite an entire apocalypse happening.
ruclips.net/video/SXVuYH3evW0/видео.htmlsi=AEyO7rXCel76tcJY
@@Courier-gq6ym okay, then that just shifts my criticism to the setting as a whole? Look at these things. They look like they should have impact and heft, and it just feels off when they have the handling characteristics of the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. They can still be fast and nimble without handling like bag of feathers.

Gameplay wise kind of looks like Hawken and Phantom Crash, which is great because I loved both.
They probably made pitched this idea together with the Synduality Noir anime that released 2 seasons
Both look interesting and cant wait to try them both.
the explanations on 4ra are so clear. even newbies can start easily now.
Another insanely kino Myndrr video.
Thank you diogenes
Damn a mech extraction shooter would have been rad. Imagine if you are looking for an arm part for your build and you see somebody in the distance with that arm. If you can successfully jump them, imagine jettisoning your current arm attaching the new arm into the socket. Now you're walking around with a mismatched paint job till you get back to base.
Holy shit the UI though. What, did they contract Ubisoft for it?

So they killed Gundam evolution for this? I wouldn't be surprised if this gets killed off because scamdai didn't get to milk microtransactions.
i saw this on recommendation in playstation store
i kinda surprised since it show after titanfall 2 similar recommendations and maybe going to buy this while waiting stellar blade
Anyways, keep up the great work
So basically, this will never be a good product
Good product, bad game
The complaints about the camera sensitivity and movement are actually common features of every mech game I've played, even the issues with 3rd person aiming check out with games like MechWarrior. So this honestly looks like it could be a great game once they fix the map geo and rebalance the combat.
1:31 I already lost interest. This game is just a money grab. Was hoping for something like AC6.
Im getting Exoprimal vibes with those menus, and I don't like it one bit.
ntr but game
😂
Even with armored core being a faster game than most of the previous ones, im pretty sure it still has a turn rate limit to some extent
Straight up trash, I can forgive a lot when your game has mecha, and anime stuff, but this must be the worst way of doing it.
Yeah, tbh I like the aesthetics and mech design of the game. Just wish they delivered on gameplay.

the betting tips on 4ra are incredible. it's like having insider knowledge from experts.
U want to experience a game where ur mech's turn rate is limited and it's part of the core gameplay. Play gundam battle operations. I'm assuming their taking that as inspiration for how they want their combat flow since your mech's quality highly influences ur on field experience.
Or mechwarrior where the literal balance between small and larger assault mechs is based on turn speed, along with separate arm turn speed !
4RA with Aaron Finch is incredible IPL and 4rabet together is perfect
Bandai Namco?

Be prepared for over monetization.
Thanks for the vid, I was looking forward for the game but the more I saw of it the less I want to play, had such a great promise.
I agee with your assessment of the weapons. I think adding more burst weapons and damage falloff would make the gunplay more skillful. It's basically the TF2 approach (no ARs, close range and opportunity to dodge) and would work well if movement was less slow.
Finch brings a lot of excitement to 4ra events, I'm loving it all
as a fan of both Titanfall and Tarkov, I will play this as soon as I can.
"It's a safe assumption this game with have pay to win mechanics"
You raised my hopes and dashed them quite expertly, sir. Bravo!
i remember seeing the teaser for this game but haven't even heard anything about it ever since until now i didn't think it'll be a extraction shooter
Nice mix of stuff as japanese always do, they need military nerdy shit to catch that audience, like JASDF markings on the mechas lol
Very few militaries exist in the universe, most pilots are just randos doing jobs for decent wages.
We need titanfall 3 damn it
I'd like to point out Revengance is an actual word, it's utterly Archaic but it IS a genuine English word. The time period said word was used in, according to the OED, was between 1100 AD and 1500 AD.
the 4ra IPL lottery is wild. tried my luck today and it was super exciting!
