Hey guys! Welcome back to Jon's RC!
Today, Jon and I got to review and fly the awesome new E-flite T.28 Trojan 1.1m. This warbird is a joy to fly! She can fly on 3s and 4s with the installed 30Amp ESC. On the maiden, Jon used a Spektrum 4s 2200mAh LiPo and for my beginner flight, I used an E-flite 3s 2200mAh LiPo. With the 4s, she definitely has the power to perform any sport maneuver you can throw at her. On a 3s, she is a gentle slow flier perfect for a beginner such as myself. The build could not be any easier. She required no gluing and only one screw for the entire build! The bright yellow paint scheme make her very visible in the air. The best part is she lands like a feather!
Enjoy the video and please subscribe to my channel! Thank you!

This is dad's beginner flight?
Hey John Aloha, I love to see you fly this yellow plane. I just lost mine 2 weeks ago I took off out of safe and didn't know and did a back Flip straight into the ground..I'm gonna buy another one. It's one of my favorite. I also have the white 1.2. But what a fabulous plane.
You and your dad are awesome Aloha.
Sorry to hear about your T-28! The T-28 is an awesome bird! My dad is still not comfortable flying without Safe Select as well. But, he’s getting better. The only way to get better in the hobby is to go longer and longer without SS until you don’t need it anymore. That is how I progressed using the UMX Timber. I kept challenging myself to try to fly as long as I could without SS and one day, I just didn’t need it anymore! Thanks for watching our videos!
Your Dad had a great flight! Safe mode keeps you in the air having fun, rather then in the basement fixing a crashed plane!!
It’s great to see a father son team having fun 👍
Thank you
Love this plane. I've decided to get back into the hobby after a 10 year hiatus. I took my old PZ Trojan out of the garage just today to get it airworthy. It was always my favorite to fly and hope I can keep it in one piece as I can't get parts for it were I to 'bend' it. I went to tighten the nose gear mount and broke it. I'm hoping that the mount for this plane is interchangeable with my old one. Can't wait to put it back up. Great video!
Thank you!
Nice video guys! Great flying!
Thank you!
I found the video from your Horizon Hobby review and I’m happy with my t-28 1.1m it’s an awesome plane!
Very nice! You work great as a team!
Thank you!
I am considering buying one of these and this is the first video I watched, great job guys.
Thank you! This is an awesome, fun and super easy plane to fly!
Great job Jon and you don’t normally see a t 28 doing aerobatics
Thank you!
So wonderful to see two different pilot levels flying the same plane. It gives a great insight into what different enthusiasts can expect to find after purchasing. Thanks TONS you two!! Awesome video..
Thank you!
Two screws and four small pieces of tape to assemble the T-28. Nearly a RTF plane. Haven't had mine in the air yet, just waiting on the weather. Very nice flying guys.
Thank you!
Well done guys 👍
Thanks!
Jon u are the man! U too pops👍🤘🤘
Thank you!
From one dad to another, stellar job!
[Eric] Thank you!
Nice job with your maiden Jon. You fly safe and very well. My 1st plane was a UMX Trojan from Horizon and I loved it except like this one and others it does want to be tail heavy and climb when you accelerated. As a work around I taped a coin inside the nose up front and then it flu flat like a warbird should. Also I re-enforced the wings by installing carbon fiber rode's I cut to fit under the wings and elevator. Made it very stable and flu level in the wind (med / high)
Thank you! I know that UMX Trojan well. I love that plane too!
Such a nice plane, real scale, maneuverable and cheap, in fact it could be a perfect match for my Dx6-e and my 3s batteries... Why not...
This plane is a perfect match to the DX6e! Plus, this plane is so easy to fly my newbie dad can fly it! 😀
@@JonsRC ... It's my second try probably I'm not sure yet, since the Maule M 7 it didn't work so well, now it's so damaged to fly that the only thing I can use it's the servos, engine, and the AR636 receiver for another plane... foam it's a fragile thing to handle
I love the slow ones. I am always for safe mode.
Good job guys. Good landing dad. Great coaching Jon and nice video. 👍👍
Thank you!
Great flying guys. I wish E-flight would bring back the 1.2M version on this plane , this time with SAFE and telemetry. It had flaps and retracts. Jon - Congratulations on winning the 2020 District X Youth Leadership Award - well deserved buddy.
Thank you! And thank you also for recognizing me on the youth leadership award! That is an old picture of me. My dad sent our application almost a year before the winners were announced!
Very entertaining 😁👍 Well done to your dad 👍
Thank you!
Im really looking forward to this plane I don't order many and have never tried a warbird😀
Im so glad John went straight into flying a 4s👍
Just need to try and not be so robotic on the delivery of dialog John 😀 srry🙄 jst sayin'😜
Can't wait to get mine this week 👍
Thanks! Yep. Jon and I have discussed his delivery! 😀 He’s working on it!
Thanks for the great review!
Thank you!
Nice flying guys.I watched a few videos on this plane, really nice flying plane. Ya. You definitely don't want to trim it out while in safe though. Lol. Thanks Jon.
Thank you!
Nice flying that beauty!
Thank you!
Great flying ! Jon and Dad well done happy landings
Thank you!
Good job
Thanks!
Great review
Thank you!
@@JonsRC I have three times now lol but im kinda trying to prove a point. I search plane stuff and band, your channel. I subbed thumbed because I really did like the review. This is a cool plane.
Great job guys!
Thank you!
great video guys, I have always been jealous of Jon's skills, he does make it look easy.
Thank you!
Nice
That's an enormous battery bay!
The bay is large but where the battery actually goes is very limited!
In this video I got a bigger kick out of watching Dad fly. He did pretty good for an "old" man. 😊
[This is Eric] Thanks! Sometimes I take it for granted how much experience it requires to fly RC planes well. It looks easy watching Jon fly it until I try to fly it myself! 😀
@@JonsRC Hi Eric. I'm an older guy (76) but new to RC flying. I've really benefited by having SAFE on my HZ Sport Cub S 2. Probably why I got such a kick out of seeing you fly and hearing you call out to Jon to switch to SAFE for you - I can relate to that.
It is really something special what you and your wife having going with your son. The benefits to Jon, the whole family actually, I believe goes way beyond the immediate benefits of what the RC hobby and RUclips bring.
Thank you! My wife and I know that it’s just a matter of time till Jon’s interest is diverted to other things like girls 😄. He’s already in that path. I’m just so happy that my wife and I get to share this time with him! We know that he will always cherish these memories long after my wife and I have gone.
@@daviddou1408 as a kid in the 50s I did what we called sticks and Japanese tissue paper. For me these were mostly rubber band powered models. Also didn't balsa wood kits with oh-49 glow engines. I like making and flying. I made and flew a flight test simple Cub which has since been totally destroyed. I'll be doing another flitetest build this winter. The full models don't seem to fly as well as the store-bought models but it's a Big Thrill when you flying something you've made yourself. Take care old man. 😊👍💪
@@daviddou1408 Ps. I turned 77 August 8th. 😊
Thanks great video!
Thank you!
I personally would find another field to fly my plane.
Always enjoy watching your videos.
Could a beginner fly the T-28??
I have a few flights on the UMX Cub S2
I hear the Apprentice can be boring after a few flights. I don’t want to get stuck with a boring plane
This is one of the planes im considering getting. Also, you should try reviewing some of those Flitetest planes that you build from scratch.
Yes! We have definitely been planning on Flite Test planes! Thanks!
Hey, guys, just wondering what's your location? I'm on the big island of Hawaii, Aloha to you and your dad awesome flying.
Hello from Southern California! Wish we could be flying on the big Island!
Awsame review thanks.
Thank you!
Do you suggest adding some nose weight when using the 4s 2200?
I don’t think so. The tendency to pitch up was easily corrected with digital trims. Plus, I had no issues with the 3s LiPo.
Good beginner plane?
Yes! The is a great plane for beginners! She is very stable and easy to land!
I have just transitioned to this model, as my first low wing airplane....I have flown it on 3S only, and the guys at the field warn me not to fly very slow because it will stall....is stalling this aircraft, when turning at low speed something it easily does, as I haven't experienced it yet...thanks
My nx8 coming tomorrow
Nice! You will love it!
Eric. remember. Keep it "Mistakes" high.
[This is Eric] Thanks! Good advice!
@@JonsRC hey Jon, quick question. Did you find it pitching up a lot? Mine was going up a lot even on safe and keeping it level. Did you adjust the elevator trim manually or on the radio? I am thinking of adjusting elevator clevis little downward so it does not pitch up like crazy. Let me know your suggestion buddy. Thanks a lot
@@deppi Hello! Ours took about +46 of digital trim to get it to fly straight. So, we just decided to manually adjust and turn the elevator servo clevis to match the angle of the digital trim then set the digital trim back to zero.
@@JonsRC +46 wow. Ok. I now adjusted the elevator clevis manually down a bit. Hopefully it will work with few trims. Will find out tmro :)
How much weight does it have?
Hi! The manual states 855 grams without battery and 1080 grams with 4S 2200mAh battery
@@JonsRC how do you like my movie?
🦄 Hellow.
DO YOU RECOMMEND THIS PLANE AS A LEARNER FOR EXPERIENCE CHEERS GREAT TEAM GUYS
Absolutely! This is an awesome plane to learn on! My dad is a newbie on RC planes and he is able to fly this plane. This plane gave me the confidence to fly my other more advanced planes!
@@JonsRC Thankyou kindly brilliant I'm like your Dad a learner to Thankyou buddy
Great video but why the masks??
Thanks! The mask is required for entry at the flying field.
