It's hard when you have a favorite card not to go overboard. I love dark magician so I have to always my fan boyism when building a deck with that card in it.
If you had an Artemis to your extra deck, you could have linked off Rod into Artemis then on your opponent's turn, activate any trap, then use Rod's GY effect to tribute that same Artemis to recycle Rod to your hand for a follow up play next turn.
Great play i just added artemis recently myself, i also run 3 dark magic veils to get that extra SS for going into verte easier. If rod is the only monster you've opened with summon rod link for artemis, summon rod with veil link 2 for verte. Dark magic veil is just a great extender IMO
Honestly, would love to see you do a deck profile of a budget version of this deck. Kind of trying to build a Dark Magician/Dark Magician Girl deck myself and it's kind of daunting with how expensive some of the staples are.
Definitely a pricey deck to run it at its best potential unfortunately. Without souls, it just doesn’t run as powerful. But definitely worth the investment if you really want to use this deck. Hope you get them one day 🖤
Just started playing "Duel Master" (newly release F2P Yu-Gi-Oh game) and wanted to build a Magician based desk, so I thought I'd try this deck you use IRL, only problem is, Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon is classed as "Forbidden" so it can't be used, so I can't replicate this deck, not being very well versed in Yu-Gi-Oh as I only ever really collected cards as a kid, what would a good "replacement" be, I guess?

Yeah mate the magician's souls alone will set you back 250+ quid for the playset! Another option would be fusion deployment coupled with eye of Timaeus, or elemental hero prisma. Prisma sends monster for cost so even if he gets negated you still get a monster in the Graveyard regardless. And accesscode is still fairly steep so a cheaper link 4 would be apollusa, but would need selene in your extra deck to make that combo more viable.

@@dtwduuvaaall6865 The issue there is if you ban Red-Eyes Fusion you're effectively banning all of the Red-Eyes Fusion monsters, which sucks for those who enjoy using them. If you ban Dragoon then yeah no more trouble card, however you're just waiting for the next big fusion monster that people will abuse verte for.
@@SuperBLooDShot The problem is no matter what, someone's Deck gets hurt by a ban. But I think if you're going to hurt any decks it should be the few decks as opposed to the many. Banning red-eyes Fusion would only hurt dragoon splashes, and red-eyes decks, and DM decks. And other red-eyes Fusions are pretty ass comparatively so how bad does it really hurt red-eyes?
I love this deck! Just made it myself. Made one slight alter. Starlight Dragon is one of my favorite cards so I’ve always had it in my extra deck and added Starlight Road in the deck. With this being a big back row strat I feel this is just an extra safety net and a free summon that adds even more preventions imo
I like the idea. Are you still playing Dark Magician? If so, is the starlight strategy still working? Also, how do you feel about the dogmatica package and getting locked out of the extra deck?
@@ghaedo dark magicians is all I play honestly. Just really like the deck. Starlight doesn’t get played all the time it can be an extra safety net for me with eternal soul and a heavy back row if I can draw starlight road. I only play ecclesia and punishment and to me that’s more of a protection because first turn you are aiming to get dragoon or other extra monsters out so theoretically by the time you get locked out it’s after you have your monsters and it’s just a preventative to your opponent if that makes sense
@@AdamDiPersio Same here, I only play Dark Magicians. It's fun to play with and I love the challenge of competing against meta decks at my locals. I find that I'm constantly adjusting ratios of monsters spells and traps to turbo out Dragoon and set up back row (ideally with Eternal Souls, Dark Magical Circle with Rod in the graveyard if I can help it). I've played all sorts of mechanics to thin out the deck and draw cards, but it hasn't felt right. I'm trying to keep the vision of the deck pure to control and trap based. If you have a discord or know of any dark magician groups I will be happy to bounce ideas with you. I also have a Dark Magician discord group if you want to discuss ideas and keep up with the meta.

I've been waiting so long for Dark Magician to be goated as hell because he's the coolest monster in the game IMO and unlike Magic: the Gathering for whatever reason I can just play Dark Magician for days without burning out. I think Magic is the better game with a lot more structured card balance but if I'm gonna play Yu-Gi-Oh! I'm not interested in playing something that's not absolutely busted. I might actually try to build this deck and go to local for this game for the first time in my life.
Awesomesauce deck profile Sam you've even convinced me to side solemn judgement as an option to protect my board from DRNM and other board breakers so cheers man! I still run 2 Eye of Timaeus though for the simple fact that its a 2 card dragoon when combined with magician's souls, or elemental hero prisma/fusion deployment if you're running on a budget, if it was searchable the card would almost be broken!!!

I appreciate your invovled deck profiles, certainly helped me see ideas and cards I had no idea about. Helpful format, you explained everything well enough with only a few vague things. I'll make sure to poke at your channel first when digging for big deck profiles. That said, this is an EXPENSIVE deck. I had heard YuGiOh had gotten expensive, but wow. Feast or famine with these prices... As well, this deck seems to be one that is only tangentially a "Dark Magician" deck. I get it, you play what wins when you aim to compete, just all the piles of weird Extra deck monsters throws off my love of theme. I am obviously just in the wrong mindset, casual/theme player for life over here. Would love to see a more casual/themed version of the deck, but I see that might not be your goal here on this channel, so you do you. Either way, thanks for the video!
you can use Eye of Timaeus to make cool fusions like Dark Paladin, Dark Cavalry, Dark Flare Knight for a fun nostalgic version of the deck. you can also run cards like fusion deployment and a copy of buster blader in deck to give you access to dark paladin, cavalry, and buster blader dragon destroyer fusion, who can be really strong if your opponent happens to be playing blue eyes/dragons. i like to play multiple versions of the deck, but they are all fun. if you take a little time to learn the meta, playing competitively is part of the fun, its just a little investment of effort to get over that hump.
Every youtuber says this: "What does your opponent have against this deck? Nothing, its game." Me: "Your opponent has the power of 2022-2023. Evolution, creativity, stupidity, customizations...etc" :)
Doesn't need anything. Floodgates should get the axe, including ones on legs like Winda, and also free Omni negates like Borreload Savage or stuff like Apoloussa. Ash is too generic as well, I think it should be limited, everyone maxes it at 3 in their deck. Hand Traps should be situational for being so ready-to-play.
Yeah as if the problem is people summoning multiple Dragoons per game so limiting it would solve everything... You might as well leave it unlimited instead of doing something like this, that only slightly hurts DM players and does nothing to every other deck that uses Dragoon as the cherry on top after they finished getting out their standard boss monsters.
Modern YuGiOh is so crazy that you start listing actual dark magician and dark magician related cards and end up with plants, cyberse and other monsters that even Dark Magician himself would give the stinky eye hahahhaha Great list, by the way

I have a question that has been bothering me, how do you optimise on the ebon illusion magician in this deck when you only run two dark magicians? Because it takes both DMs to make the ebon and he holds them as material meaning you can't really use his effect right? Or is he just another way of jumping into Zeus?
There are so many ways to special summon a dark magician from like anywhere so drawing then isn't necessarily helpful. You only need however many are required to achieve your win condition .
True Draco and Dinos seem to be his forte, but he seems to enjoy HERO and DM, and don't be surprised if Six Samurai would be his favorite (channel name after all), also Danger Dark World he used a lot. Like everyone, he likes Blue-Eyes, Red-Eyes, Exodia, and Cyber Dragon to an extent as well, but I don't think these are his favorites.
Would of been an even better deck if you took out 1-2 circles and added Fleurdelis also MD Nadir. But great video nonetheless I’m a big fan. Great content. Well if I had to guess is because unlike souls she litterrally sucks when she gets handtrap as you lose a card in hand. In addition she adds a garnet to your hand when her effect resolves.
@@fireslayer95 I guess that's true my mates hero deck always has a hand trap for my apprentice illusion for her just to be a sitting duck on the field. This sucks though, she was a game changer back when she was released as support.
She is especially worse when using only 2 copies of DM, you really need 3 or you'll likely not have enough copies in Deck to add via effect. You draw or Circle 1 (because bad luck) and need 1 for REF, now you have no copies, if you had a 3rd you would add that copy. It might be better with the new Ritual monster since you also stack a card from your hand to the Deck, like a Vanilla. Her boost effect is ok, but only if your opponent tries to run over Dragoon and she's in your hand (so 2 cards in hand to protect Dragoon). She's best for being a SS body and adding DM to hand to use situational cards, but Anaconda gets DM and Dragoon, so she is unnecessary atm, cards that make 2 monsters are better, DM doesn't have many though. What we need are support for Mahad and Mana (to draw 3-4 off of Serbant), Servant at least works with Mahad but Mana is pretty bad, we probably need new Palidiums or some support because they are just bad bricks and Souls can only mill one Spellcaster at a time.
Someone used Mana instead of DMG or Mahad because the Fusion Magicians is mediocre compared to Dragoon anyways. I think it is ok, but even then who the hell is targeting a Spellcaster you control with a card effect other than Rod with Imperm/Veiler? Dragoon can't be targeted, and her effect to protect lv7 Spellcasters from destructive effects only would save DM from your own Eternal Soul since Dragoon is already protected (so pointless since DM is a vanilla if your backrow is popped anyways). The worst part about it, is even if one is targeted, the targeted effect doesn't get negated so it is pointless. You get a free body that floats into the DMG that you cut anyways. Well, in the case Rod IS targeted, you can use her with Rod to go into Anaconda, but you probably had Souls to Mill her in the first place. She's a mess and Mahad is easier to use imo, you can stack him with Servants and SS him but stacking Souls would be just as good if not better because of Relinquished Anima and the Draw effect or if you have Circle and need DM to banish, but if you have Souls already Mahad is an ok extender. Mahad will be better with the Ritual to unblock your hand if you open him.

Would you guys like to see link summoning being once per turn and NOT create cards that would allow you to summon more link monsters, allowing the older cards and battle traps/ reg traps to be used again? Or do you like the pace and the state of the game it’s in now? Just curious what you guys think thanks.
Hey Sam, if you add FALLEN OF ALBAZ and ALBION STIGAMATA DRAGON, U've another OPTION to summon Dragoon or Dragonknight! U can also include Ashdragon and Brigrand
Good thing he plays 2 Dark Magician because 3 copies can build a house. 2 circles & 2 eternal is the right ratio. Circle IS NOT good like duality! Circle only adds DM spells or traps. Playing 1 copy of Salvation is right. 3 REFs is right. Skill drain works well on DM 'cause DM is NORMAL monster, and you can just remove skill drain on the field using M.Souls effect for extra draw (M.Souls effect will resolves even with skill drain on the field tust me). Sam plays DM the Dragon Knight, I'm just wondering how is he gonna summon it if he is not playing Imduk? I will cut out I.P. and Unicorn for Kagari & Kaina, adding Sky Striker cards on the main too with Engage, Hornet Drones and Eagle Booster for protecting Anaconda against Effect V. and Imperm. Don't use AA if you have Eternal face up on the field, 'cause it will remove AA too. Anyway this is a good DM deck.
Trap card domatika punishment pops a card but you send an extra deck monster to the grave that has equal or higher attack. Send Titaniklad, then special summon Ecclesia of its effect and search another punishment when you do so. Or send N'Tss to grave to pop an additional card.
Sam I been on your channel since 2020 because you play dark magician. So do I.. I been getting a lot of success playing no meta cards since January 2021 like cutting hand traps. Good to here you did the same and you been getting success as well. The help I need is for LOZA RUclips channel dark magician players. I been telling him for a while and he doesn't believe me.. Can you please tell him meta cards are trash like hand traps.. Because they slow the power speed and success from dark magician. When I tell them no one wants to believe me. You have more subscribers and they only listen to people like you.

Can't help with inner sleeves, aka the ones that barely fit Yu-Gi-Oh cards, but also fit inside Yu-Gi-Oh sized (aka mini) sleeves.

you can use Eye of Timaeus to make cool fusions like Dark Paladin, Dark Cavalry, Dark Flare Knight for a fun nostalgic version of the deck. you can also run cards like fusion deployment and a copy of buster blader in deck to give you access to dark paladin, cavalry, and buster blader dragon destroyer fusion, who can be really strong if your opponent happens to be playing blue eyes/dragons. i like to play multiple versions of the deck, but they are all fun. if you take a little time to learn the meta, playing competitively is part of the fun, its just a little investment of effort to get over that hump.

Dragoon to one would be fine. Doesn’t need to be banned.
Doesn't need anything. Floodgates should get the axe, including ones on legs like Winda, and also free Omni negates like Borreload Savage or stuff like Apoloussa. Ash is too generic as well, I think it should be limited, everyone maxes it at 3 in their deck. Hand Traps should be situational for being so ready-to-play.
Yeah as if the problem is people summoning multiple Dragoons per game so limiting it would solve everything...
You might as well leave it unlimited instead of doing something like this, that only slightly hurts DM players and does nothing to every other deck that uses Dragoon as the cherry on top after they finished getting out their standard boss monsters.

I have a question that has been bothering me, how do you optimise on the ebon illusion magician in this deck when you only run two dark magicians? Because it takes both DMs to make the ebon and he holds them as material meaning you can't really use his effect right? Or is he just another way of jumping into Zeus?

If you check in DM related facebook groups, people (me too) have been playing 2 copies of DM for a lot of time, and everybody is fine with that.
one DM for Red eyes fusion and one for souls. thats why.
Because drawing them almost does nothing unless you have cards to pair with it. Better to draw stuff like strike.
There are so many ways to special summon a dark magician from like anywhere so drawing then isn't necessarily helpful. You only need however many are required to achieve your win condition .

True Draco and Dinos seem to be his forte, but he seems to enjoy HERO and DM, and don't be surprised if Six Samurai would be his favorite (channel name after all), also Danger Dark World he used a lot.
Like everyone, he likes Blue-Eyes, Red-Eyes, Exodia, and Cyber Dragon to an extent as well, but I don't think these are his favorites.

Dark Magician the Dragon Knight doesnt need The Eye of Timaeus. You just need Dark Magician + 1 Dragon type monster

Why isn't apprentice illusion magician played anymore? I always thought she was pretty good
Right? I thought she was super useful when it came to needing a DM in my hand.
Well if I had to guess is because unlike souls she litterrally sucks when she gets handtrap as you lose a card in hand. In addition she adds a garnet to your hand when her effect resolves.
@@fireslayer95 I guess that's true my mates hero deck always has a hand trap for my apprentice illusion for her just to be a sitting duck on the field. This sucks though, she was a game changer back when she was released as support.
She is especially worse when using only 2 copies of DM, you really need 3 or you'll likely not have enough copies in Deck to add via effect. You draw or Circle 1 (because bad luck) and need 1 for REF, now you have no copies, if you had a 3rd you would add that copy.
It might be better with the new Ritual monster since you also stack a card from your hand to the Deck, like a Vanilla.
Her boost effect is ok, but only if your opponent tries to run over Dragoon and she's in your hand (so 2 cards in hand to protect Dragoon). She's best for being a SS body and adding DM to hand to use situational cards, but Anaconda gets DM and Dragoon, so she is unnecessary atm, cards that make 2 monsters are better, DM doesn't have many though.
What we need are support for Mahad and Mana (to draw 3-4 off of Serbant), Servant at least works with Mahad but Mana is pretty bad, we probably need new Palidiums or some support because they are just bad bricks and Souls can only mill one Spellcaster at a time.
Someone used Mana instead of DMG or Mahad because the Fusion Magicians is mediocre compared to Dragoon anyways.
I think it is ok, but even then who the hell is targeting a Spellcaster you control with a card effect other than Rod with Imperm/Veiler? Dragoon can't be targeted, and her effect to protect lv7 Spellcasters from destructive effects only would save DM from your own Eternal Soul since Dragoon is already protected (so pointless since DM is a vanilla if your backrow is popped anyways). The worst part about it, is even if one is targeted, the targeted effect doesn't get negated so it is pointless. You get a free body that floats into the DMG that you cut anyways. Well, in the case Rod IS targeted, you can use her with Rod to go into Anaconda, but you probably had Souls to Mill her in the first place.
She's a mess and Mahad is easier to use imo, you can stack him with Servants and SS him but stacking Souls would be just as good if not better because of Relinquished Anima and the Draw effect or if you have Circle and need DM to banish, but if you have Souls already Mahad is an ok extender.
Mahad will be better with the Ritual to unblock your hand if you open him.

I play fully expecting the opponent to trap every move so I have backup after backup and focus a little less on trapping the opponent.
Huge possibility to get kaijued to get rid of dragoon, or dark ruler

Good thing he plays 2 Dark Magician because 3 copies can build a house. 2 circles & 2 eternal is the right ratio. Circle IS NOT good like duality! Circle only adds DM spells or traps. Playing 1 copy of Salvation is right. 3 REFs is right. Skill drain works well on DM 'cause DM is NORMAL monster, and you can just remove skill drain on the field using M.Souls effect for extra draw (M.Souls effect will resolves even with skill drain on the field tust me). Sam plays DM the Dragon Knight, I'm just wondering how is he gonna summon it if he is not playing Imduk? I will cut out I.P. and Unicorn for Kagari & Kaina, adding Sky Striker cards on the main too with Engage, Hornet Drones and Eagle Booster for protecting Anaconda against Effect V. and Imperm. Don't use AA if you have Eternal face up on the field, 'cause it will remove AA too. Anyway this is a good DM deck.

Please can someone explain how you utilise the Ntiss and the Ash dragon cards.
Trap card domatika punishment pops a card but you send an extra deck monster to the grave that has equal or higher attack. Send Titaniklad, then special summon Ecclesia of its effect and search another punishment when you do so. Or send N'Tss to grave to pop an additional card.
