I feel like sq-1 is one of the hardest wca puzzles to teach. It's a lot of "move this like this" and "experiment to find out how to do it" but you did a really good job explaining it! nice job!
Look up 1x1 Speedcube on Amazon. The tensions are already perfect and they have 45° corner cutting and reverse corner cutting. They come with Lubix and are very easy to use. Hope this helps!
Thanks DG! You helped me a lot. I saw a lot unboxings and reviews of QiYi Square-1 and I buyed one and after it came it took 2 minutes to scramble it and then i didn't know how to solve it and it standed on shelf for 6 months, then this evening I watched this tutorial and solved it! Thanks!
I used this tutorial many years ago to solve my sq1. I recently found it again and didn't remember the algs. Came back here and the muscle memory is back!!!
Me: owns square-1 Also me: wants to solve it and watches tutorial After a while: ok so almost solved it DGcubes: but you might get this(parity) Me: doesn't own square-1 anymore but have some new cube pieces
Helped a lot. Thank you so much! I solved it in my car on the freeway. It was very disruptive and well thought out for easy instructions. Thank you again, and now to mix it up and watch again.
Watching someone solve a sq 1 is so satisfying. Just flipping your right hand up and down, doing finger tricks with the left... I need to get a square 1 jeez
thank you soo much! I was looking for a really good tutorial and here it is! finally I learnt how to solve the square-1 within 2 hours (incl. parity alg). PB today: 1:28.xx
OMG I finnally solved the Square-1. Yes, thank you for such a great Squan tutorial when all others failed. Now gonna memorize the algs to solve the squan myself :D
DGCubes I solved this confusing puzzle! Thanks a lot! And can you make a tutorial on how to solve the square-2 pls? I'm really looking forward to that :)
Thanks a lot bro. After wasting lots of time seeing other videos , I finally learned how to solve this square one. This is probably the best and easiest way to solve square one . Thank you so much.
it helps you so much when you know how to solve 3x3x2 in the corner part because if there is 1 white corner and 3 yellow then you align the last pieces that need to be orientated then you do mis-align the top layer and just do the 3x3x2 corner step.
Got this for Christmas(with magnets!) and spent hours yesterday to solve it intuitively without any tutorials or algs. Got surprisingly far but got stuck with the parity. I think I have cheat now and watch this.
Thank you SOOO much for clearing out that the slice does not have to be fixed, I hate those tutorials that don't clear stuff like that out and I get so confused
"and then your square-1 will be solved" Me: very good "unless you have this *shows weird cube shape* if you have this you have parity" *ad shows* what a coincedence -_-
So I solved this puzzle with no help and no tutorial, and a long time later I thought I would try solving it again. Nope. I came so incredibly close. From five edges that need to move around, four edges and even three edges that need to swap like the appearance of the triple edge swap of the Rubiks cube. So frustrating. Then I got something you can’t get on most cubes. A two edge swap. Wtf?! Then I had to learn the name of this cube so I can find this tutorial! Anyway, I really hope this works. You are awesome.
Easy parity: (/3,3/1,0/4,-2)/(-4,2/-1,0/-3,-3) Leaves you with a diagonal corner swap on bottom but when you finish edge permutation again you won't have parity. Tip for memorization: the second bit in parentheses is just the first bit, but inverted.
Literally learned this within 2 days of finding this tutorial, so simple when u know what you're doing! Thanks DG, even if I am a year and a half late so u probably won't see this lol
I clicked on this video because I forgot how to solve square one again and all I had to do was watch the intro where he explained the steps he was going to go through and I was magically fulfilled again.
Thanks dg this really helped. I have had a square one for so long and I've had no idea what do do this was so helpful and now I just watch it I we and over again until I have the parity alg memorized because I still dont
DGCubes, i had some trouble with edge permutation from Brandon lin's tutorial. i solve a square 1 around 1 minute but I always messed up on edge permutation but your tutorial made it so much easier for me! Thanks dude and continue on making great vids!
THANK YOU!!! I purchased a QiYi Sq-1 thinking I would be able to learn Sq-1 if I had a good Sq-1 (The Calvin's was my main) and all the tutorials were absolutely awful. Thanks to you, I almost know how to solve Sq-1. (Parity is the end of my life XD)
Awesome tutorial!!!! When will your tips and tricks video come up? Also, I'm really slow at Cubeshape but I'm improving with the rest. Can you give me any advice for it? Also, to orient and permute some of the pieces, I have to flip the middle slice using your algorithm and it takes up a substantial amount of time. Do you have any tricks for that too? Thanks!!
I HAVE ASCENDED INTO IMMORTAL LIGHT. MY BODY IS BATHED BY A SHIMMERING GLOW. I HAVE ACQUIRED COMPLETE TRANSCENDENCE Thanks for the tutorial it was really good.
I don't have a square 1 yet but I'm getting one and will use this video, I can have the X Cube, Mirror Cubes, Armadillo Cube, Cubes 2x2 through 9x9, a pyraminx, gear ball, Megaminx, and a gigaminx, AND CAN SOLVE ALL THE CUBES I HAVE, bug I have been told that this is all new algorithms so I'm very excited
Thank you so much for this, this is the only tutorial that has made sense to me. I couldn't get the parity alg right for a while but I've figured it out now.
Hey thanks a lot man! I was having trouble with last layer corner and edge permutations and parity earlier, after this video I'm able to solve it pretty comfortably.
love this video i was able to sovle my square-1 in no time but there is some harsh square-1 cube abuse in thuis video this is why we use mats so we don't injure our puzzles love you dgcubes tho
cubeshape 6 edges case - L shape 4:55 move 2 top edges past the turnline (2,0) bring the L up / move the line past the turnline (-3,0) bring the bottom edges to the other side and bring them back up (0,4)/ move the six to their own side (2,0) bring the line back up / (2,0)/(-3,4)/(2,0)/ Condensed algs: CS: / (-2, -4) / (-1, -2) / (U' D')/ EO: (1, 0) / (D') / (D') / (-1, -1) / (1, 4) / (D) / CP: / (U D') / (U') / (D) / (D') / (D) / EP: (-2, 0) /(U)/ (-1, -1) / (-2, 1) / Parity: (U') / (D) / (D') / (D) / (2, 0) / (0, 2) / (-2, 0) / (4, 0) / (0, -2) / (0, 2) / (-1, 4) / (D') / (D) Swap layers: / (U2 D2) / Equator flip: / (U2) / (U2) / (U2) M2: (1,0)/(-1,-1)/(0,1) Fingertricks for parity (for now): index pinch the (2,0). thumb drag the (-2,0) and ring drag the (4,,0).
Dg during cube shape, I am always coming across this really annoying case where I have 5 edges next to each other, one edge diagonal to them and then I have an L at the bottom with the remaining 2 edges. How can this be solved?
This case is actually a little easier if you know another alg. What you can do is put 4 edges on top on the left side of the slice, and put the L on the back left on the bottom, then do a /. Then, set it up so the top 4 edges are split in half by the slice, and the bottom 2 edges you've just joined are split by the slice. This cubeshape case is called kite-scallop and it's really nice. Just do / (-1, -2) / (-3, 0) / You might also have the mirror of this case. In that case, just do the mirror of everything I said, and do / (-1, -2) / (0, -3) / for the alg instead.
I recommend memorizing the shapes. That technique helps with learning new algs. You also can get used to the feel of the cube while you are solving.I also recommend practising it whenever you can.Learn advanced cubeshape too.Pick either the Qiyi square 1 or the x-man volt. When you are sub 1 minute,Start learning EP algs.Hoped this helped.

True. I can't even solve one yet!
It's easy when you know it doe.. Im sub 15
So true.... But tricky to lern
+TheNinjaCuber parity is the worst part xD
yoooooo
Can you quickly explain when exactly you have to constantly slam the cube on the table?
Tyler Dunphy when you get parity
i feel bad for your 13x13
cause why the heck not
Tyler Dunphy lol
Tyler Dunphy because it's a square 1 lol it's a colored pockets reference
Why am i watching this if i even dont have a square 1
Lol
ThePeppe0000 me too but mine is coming
ThePeppe0000 me too lool
same
So that if you get one you’ll know how to solve it (i don’t have one either)
His by far the best tutorial video I have ever seen
algs
cube shape: 5:27
edge orientation 7:51
corner permutation 9:21
edge perm 11:48
parity 14:40
Does anyone know how to make a 1x1 corner cut better? I tried changing the tension and lubing it but it just doesn't work. Should I get another one?
definitely get a new one. You must have gotten a crappy brand 1x1 because newer brands are definitely able to corner cut great.
Scott Petersen Dump 4 bottles of silk on it.
I recon you should replace the springs. ;-)
MJBCuber vv
Look up 1x1 Speedcube on Amazon. The tensions are already perfect and they have 45° corner cutting and reverse corner cutting. They come with Lubix and are very easy to use. Hope this helps!
I liked square1 until i saw the parity alg
YLK Rubiks same
it breaks the square-1 unless it is stickerless.
Bleach Clorox that is very relateable.
There is a stickered version of th QiYi
go look at a video called "easy way to memorize parity" by 2 epic asains
Thanks! This is the first tutorial i could watch without falling asleep...
lol
CerealKillerOats maybe him slamming the cube on the table woke you up
ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZzz Wait what did you say?
Lol
I take two hours to fall asleep sometimes three hours xd
Thank you Daniel, I am thinking about getting a Sq-1, but was worried about the lack of good tutorials.
jeez whats your promblem always slamming the cube what did it do to you 1 like=1 prayer for the cube
omg LOL! XD
This made my day😂😂😂
he's probably the edgy cuber in the cubing community? i guess?
Casey neistat of cubing
Nice one😂😂
Thank you so much! This is the first understandable SQ1 tutorial I've seen. This video is the reason why I'm finally able to solve mine! Thanks DG!
Awesome! So glad I was able to help! :)
Oh me too
@@DGCubes your tutorial is still the best thanks bro
Thanks DG! You helped me a lot. I saw a lot unboxings and reviews of QiYi Square-1 and I buyed one and after it came it took 2 minutes to scramble it and then i didn't know how to solve it and it standed on shelf for 6 months, then this evening I watched this tutorial and solved it! Thanks!
Lol the amount of times that he dropped it on the table I was waiting for it to burst
Lol

Love this tutorial, easy to follow and solving it easily.
Only reason I have a square 1 is to throw at a wall
colorful pockets reference?
yup
Every one knows that but square one is awesome
DUGSPI!
HEY
LoL i was just having the parity when i messed up the parity alg
I used this tutorial many years ago to solve my sq1. I recently found it again and didn't remember the algs. Came back here and the muscle memory is back!!!
Here is my thanks-parity alg.
\ (0, 0) /
Thank you!
Hahaha, that's awesome. Glad I could help. :)
DGCubes How fast can I get with this method?
Thanks DGCubes! This is the only tutorial I could understand to learn how to solve square-1. I finally solved it!
Awesome! Glad I could help!
Me: owns square-1
Also me: wants to solve it and watches tutorial
After a while: ok so almost solved it
DGcubes: but you might get this(parity)
Me: doesn't own square-1 anymore but have some new cube pieces
@Veerinder Pal Kaur woosh
Thanks DG, this was the first video I watched to learn square-1, right now I want to become officially top 25 in the world since I average low 9.
My algorithm: U' R' D' U' M' B'
Lol
Helped a lot. Thank you so much! I solved it in my car on the freeway. It was very disruptive and well thought out for easy instructions. Thank you again, and now to mix it up and watch again.
Watching someone solve a sq 1 is so satisfying. Just flipping your right hand up and down, doing finger tricks with the left... I need to get a square 1 jeez
Yeah, it's a really fun event. You should get one. :)
+DGCubes too bad i get to order cubes once ~every two months :(
I know the feeling :(
6 years later and your video is still helping others!
12:51 You mean an EDGEucated guess.
Hahahahaha
THIS IS SO CONFUSING!!! I've watched it 10 times and still barely get notations... but this is still the best tutorial
thank you soo much! I was looking for a really good tutorial and here it is! finally I learnt how to solve the square-1 within 2 hours (incl. parity alg). PB today: 1:28.xx
Nice job!
Thanks so much for this tutorial!!! I got a 4.05 unofficial world record single!! Thank you!!!
I'm gonna buy my square 1 next month in October so should I go with yuxin little magic square 1?
Prabuddh Mathur yeah that’s the best one
Thanks for making this tutorial! It really helped me out.
(Emphasis on really)
OMG I finnally solved the Square-1. Yes, thank you for such a great Squan tutorial when all others failed. Now gonna memorize the algs to solve the squan myself :D
It's square 1
Thanks soooooo much DG. I'm the guy who asked about the Dreampark cubes and I love your videos. You are my favorite RUclipsr
DGCubes I solved this confusing puzzle! Thanks a lot! And can you make a tutorial on how to solve the square-2 pls? I'm really looking forward to that :)
Its the same xd
Thanks a lot bro. After wasting lots of time seeing other videos , I finally learned how to solve this square one. This is probably the best and easiest way to solve square one . Thank you so much.
Thx dg! this tutorial helped a lot!
Glad I could help! :D
Do u remember me from INSTAGRAM? Just curious... not a stalker
What? I don't have an Instagram. Maybe you got confused by one of the fake DGCubes accounts?
Oh! Then is havioc_gamingextreme1 is not u?
Nope. I have no social media other than RUclips (and Speedsolving, if you count that).
The best tutorial ever it’s not complicated like the other ones
Probably the best tutorial on you tube
But that parity,!!
Thanks! And yeah parity's a bit tough, but good luck! :)
it helps you so much when you know how to solve 3x3x2 in the corner part because if there is 1 white corner and 3 yellow then you align the last pieces that need to be orientated then you do mis-align the top layer and just do the 3x3x2 corner step.
They see me Rollin, they hate it, WHEN I SOLVE MY SQUAN IN FRONT OF THEM!
Lol
DG, I just saw this video and I could tell immediately that it would really help me to be able to solve the square-1, knowing what I'm doing.
:D
But I saw it right before I went to camp for a week. I got back and almost immediately watched it and I can do it really well now.
FOR ONCE THIS TUTORIAL DIDNT MAKE ME QUIT
Got this for Christmas(with magnets!) and spent hours yesterday to solve it intuitively without any tutorials or algs. Got surprisingly far but got stuck with the parity. I think I have cheat now and watch this.

I'm getting a square 1 on Saturday (volt v2 m if anyones wondering) and this is detailed so ima use this to learn thank you.
omg i did parity i am allsome thank you dg!
yep you sure are allsome
lol
Slamming aside, this is definitely the best tutorial I've seen.
why does he keep throwing his square 1 on the table
The real question is... why don't you?
Can we get a RIP Square 1 in chat? This poor puzzle has been abused with a hand and a table. The poor thing...
dg how do you switch 2 edges only
Monika Twal do the parity algorith
It is the most important part of solving it XD
thankyou. I will be buying my first square 1 because of you. you did a great job explaining everything. I appreciate this tutorial.
Wait... for real? i thought you were just going to smash it against a wall then say it was solved.
So I solved this puzzle with no help and no tutorial, and a long time later I thought I would try solving it again. Nope. I came so incredibly close. From five edges that need to move around, four edges and even three edges that need to swap like the appearance of the triple edge swap of the Rubiks cube. So frustrating.

wow you learned from a crappy tutuorial but you explain it much better than the cubologist
are you good at math

this has nothing to do with math.
it has nothing to do with math but i am good at math
It's a joke guys lol
dat name tho
ok this was the EASIEST tutorial i have seen since i got my square1
Thank you DG I just got my qiyi square 1 in the mail and already know how to solve it! This tutorial was better than any one else's. Thanks!
Yay! Glad I could help out! :D
I’ve gone back to this video so many time DGCubes has taken over my recommended
That parity algorithm physical hurt me, but after like half an hour of slowing down the video I finally got it, thanks!
I know this video is quite old, but thanks a lot Daniel, I am finally able to solve my sq-1 after it being scrambled in my closet for a year. :)

thanks so much solved the square one and i can now solve it everytime without watching video or looking at algs thanks again man
I don’t have a square 1 but I want to be cool because if I only do r u and d moves on a 3x3 it looks like I’m solving a square 1

That's awesome, good luck! :D
I just got my own square-1 and this tutorial helped me a lot. Thanks
Glad I could help! :)
I just got my sq1 in the mail a few hours ago and I can solve it thanks to this tutorial!
Great tutorial. Explained everything very well without leaving anything out.

I love the way dis guy motivate me to learn the parity algs LOL
Oh gosh I just received my square-1 today and was finding a tutorial, and you uploaded one XD Thanks so much!
Awesome! Glad I could help! :D
Literally best square 1 tutorial out there
Bro thank you this took me almost a week to get it down every morning I would go straight to my desk and start practicing
Hey bro congrats i checked all the square 1 videos and yours has the most views toping other videos at 240k+ views, congrats
Whoa, cool! Thanks! :)
Thank you so much for this, this is the only tutorial that has made sense to me. I couldn't get the parity alg right for a while but I've figured it out now.
