I'd love to see Beef make this into a resource pack and carry it over to each new season, adding an expansion. And like MTG, expansions aren't typically as big as the core set, so maybe like 20-30 cards. Each season of Hermitcraft, all the hermits have to start over, so they could leave their decks in the downloadable world. It'd be up to Beef if he wanted to add them as their own set or sprinkle them into the core set once he was done with making the cards. It would be a nice way to keep the game going, but also so Beef doesn't spend 90% of a season doing just cards. He's already done that.
I love how Hermits across the board have suddenly gone from "How do I make another full episode" to "I have ten hours of footage and no way to condense it, I'm just gonna upload these matches separately" xD

I think in game #1, because the Time Skip attack was successfully used, based on the wording he shouldn't have been able to use it again in the following round even for damage. The effect definitely shouldn't be allowed (ie opponent potentially missing consecutive turns is too OP), but I think he should also be forced to use his alternate attack "Grow Hills" instead. Not sure the 40 damage would have made much of a difference in that game, but something to keep in mind.
Ren, a missed play on your part. When you attacked joe for 80+20 of poison to bring him to 70, you could have used tnt to make damage 160. It will mean joe is at 10 hp, and x at 100. So it doesn't matter if time skips does not let you attack because poison damage gets joe
When I started playing MTG again a few years ago and after years of playing Yugioh i continued to use Yugioh terms in Magic games, it was funny and anoying to anyone else. Love this Hermictraft TCG Videos, you guys look like are having a blast with it.
The gold chestplate Jevin played at the start of round 3 seems like a really *really* good way to mitigate the turn 1 disadvantage. That final match was super balanced and wasn’t an immediate blowout
Ren I love watching the full tcg battles but I do believe there was a mistake in round 2, I don’t think you’re allowed to attack on your first turn if you start, which means Joe would have lived on 50 health still. 10:43 I can easily understand because I’m sure it’s just so exciting to play that it’s easy to forget a bunch of the smaller rules and details since you’re so laser focused on doing damage and everything. I hope this helps, I know it’s so exciting but it’s also ok to take your time and think through your next moves😅that might help stop you from skipping over smaller details and also might help you plan out your item/energy lol. Keep up the great work Ren I can’t wait to watch your deck grow!
what a great game from both of the player , love the content (sorry for my bad English PS , actualy Ren can win the 3rd game at 1:05:45 if he haven't pass the turn after placing redstone on Doc, since the active hermit is 70hp away from knock out. - If Ren plays the TNT card that is in his hand (inside shulker box ) that round after placing item on Doc at 1:05:51 ( -60 hp ) - And will get 20 damage from X's poison (Cup of tea) at the next round ( -20 hp ) - 70hp - 60 (TNT play at that turn ) - 20 ( Poison damage that come after the next time Ren make a move ) So what that means is even if Jev will heal or swap to ANY of the AFK player , Ren will guaranteed to get a point without doin anything Since Jev said he dont have any bucket of milk or water in his deck (he could be Bluffing thou...Well by the way its a good game , and I REALLY love it !!!
So I loved that you said "Impulse logs onto the server" when you put him on the board. It would be so much work but I wonder if there is a way to introduce the player's sound clip on their attack. Like if you use Joe's Time Skip ability it would be so funny to insert him actually saying one of his "tiiiiimmmmmeeee skip" Or maybe thats too cheesy along with too much work.

14:56 In the Second Game you forgot the Bonus Damage of +10 to AFK Hermits(Impulse) from the Crossbow. Extending the Game Unnecessarily. But then again it's a Game for Fun and mistakes happen. I enjoyed the video but my OCD wont let these details go.
Joe Hills (Rare) suggested change: successful timeskip can't use timeskip on the turn after. effect: reduce the damage from 90x2 to 90+50 bringing it more in line with other high damage moves that require a coinflip. bonus for beef: doesn't require re-prints or re-calls, just clarification on rules.
Lead would be good on a hermit with a powerful 3 slot move that use the same type in order to block them. Extra Flee, the ability to force an opponents active to AFK seems like a good move to get rid of someone like Joe also gives you a chance to pick a hermit that has strengths since the opponent chooses first.
Omgsh, i just got back from a sporadic MTG commander game with peers today after losing my play group a year ago. Crazy hearing you guys chat about it lol.
Honestly if you watch a few videos of hermits playing for the first time you really pick it up quick. There’s also a wiki page that gives a rundown on how it works. Basics though are that there are different types of hermit cards (builder, redstone, terraform, etc). Then there are common hermits and rare hermits (there might be ultra rare but I haven’t seen any). The goal is to take out three of the opposing players hermits to win (but you can also win if the opposing player doesn’t have anymore hermit cards after the defending player takes out 1 or 2). You have to unlock a hermits ability by playing cards that relate to there type (tango has a farm type so he needs 3 farm cards to unlock his strongest ability). There are effect cards that you can play for extra damage (like a lava bucket that will hit for and extra 20 damage). There are a lot more little things in the game that the wiki can explain, that’s just the basics so that you can understand a bit more when watching

I ask because there are going to be some seriously addicted hermits due to this TCG, I have fears that Tango will get hooked and put off Decked Out 2 for quite a while and the Hermits won't have much time to play.
This was really cool! Brings an entirely different vibe when it's two experienced Magic players strategizing and finding the depth in the game. Also liked hearing the different perspectives on playing for ante, which has been my main concern as the game's been ramping up on the server. I can see Ren's perspective about it helping to balance the decks over time, but it seems like it could encourage negative play patterns where Hermits who are more concerned about losing their best cards choose to concede early rather than take risks, as X was motivated to do when he lost his rare Etho. It also seems like it could compound a losing streak. Losing cards and getting fewer tokens to buy more packs could be too much of a feel-bad imo.

Extra flee: Attack for 100 then trigger effect. (Double check other poison cards) Chorus Fruit: move tango back to active without losing attack phase; rinse and repeat combo
I'm so glad you Hermits are posting all the games. This is very fun to watch. ALso, MTG rocks, I started in 94 and have thousands of cards. Love mtg... well what it used to be. Ok lets watch this game!
Around the 15:30 mark(Game 2) Joe died, but Jev forgot to take an additional 10 damage to his afk Impulse card from the crossbow one time use card. Also, at 45:00 Jevin took the 50 attack from Iskall and the 20 fire damage to afk Tango, but forgot the fire damage to active Tango(putting him at 60 instead of 80). Both of these proved inconsequential since those hermits died basically the same round, but just an observation.
🚩🚩Game Rules🚩🚩 I don't Think you can attack for 90 with joe if the Time Skip ability is on cooldown, You should only be able to use the first attack Grow hills for 50... amazing video's I'm a huge TCG fan myself
Time skip is 80 attack, i think As far as i remember, beef said that players are allowed to do 80 damage consecutively, its just the time skip effect that can't be applied twice in a row.
Single-use is part of the attack phase. They go off during the attack phase. When switching players, can only use non-damaging single-use cards, can't use lava buck and other damage.
Tangos flee attack is great if the other player has switched and only has a low hermit or does not have another with power. You can force them to swap. Works great when you have a chorus fruit at least in the online version
I'm sure someone else has mentioned this, but your first match was ended incorrectly at the use of the Crossbow. The Crossbow does 40 damage to the active hermit and 10 damage to an AFK hermit. The JoeHills card could not use its Time Skip attack that turn (since it cannot be used consecutively if it succeeds on the coin toss), meaning that it could only use its Grow Hills attack for 50 damage. That means the attack combo would only have done 90 damage out of the 130 HP remaining on your Impulse card, leaving you with 40 HP and one more turn to potentially play another hermit card.
This is pretty fun! But Jevin has been using Joe hills incorrectly to his advantage lol! He can't attack with timeskip consequently (even the 90 attack with no effect isn't allowed) I guess Beef will have to clarify this at some point
Hey Ren I love the TCG episode. For next games try calculations without the 0s. If that makes sense. So that 210 minus 70, becomes 21-7. Maybe this will be easier on your brain.
Beefs done an incredible job not just building this but coming up with a solid card game mechanic!!! This should get a paper version!!! I'd be all over that like sauce on hot chips!!
So on your second to last attack, if you use tnt with x's attack that leaves joe with a whopping 10 health and he dies on next turn whether you get skipped or not. X also gets left a whopping 10 health when joe attacks but 10 > 0 and the game ends before he can be attacked again. It also ensures the game ends that turn even if jev would have switched to tango. While the end result is the same, jev in an unwinnable situation, x living means in a game for stakes you'd lose one less card.
As someone who organized tournaments in MTG, Force of Will, YuGiOh!, and Pokémon TCG; I'd say the game mechanics are closest to standard Pokémon TCG play. Only difference I see is only being able to play 1 effect card per turn. Also poison and burn effects only happen once an orbit in HTCG instead of each passing of turns. May help to watch some Pokémon TCG tournament play for some good strategies to incorporate into HTCG. I wish I could play myself on Hermitcraft, but im cheering you all on in this journey! :😀
Definitely hope a balance rule of one of each Rare hermit would solve some of the OPness of consistently having a time skip card. But also making the attack itself not useable after it's used (so time skip, the regular, then time skip etc). The alternative is adding a "discard an item from this hermit to skip opp turn instead of a flip) to make it so the card requires constant investment to keep time skipping
I believe I saw Beef explaining the single use cards: Any single use cards that involve doing damage have to be combined with an attacking hermit. The splash potion of poison and the lava bucket are a bit different from all the weapons though...
32:56 - Don't you need a farm and *wildcard* for Impulses iAttack ability? he's got 2 redstone on there but you still hit for 70? (apologize if this was covered later in the video, just stopped to check)
I have been trying to find the most damage you can do on one turn, so far I think: Doc with world eater double attack (100×2) + Burn (20) + Poison (20) + TNT (60) would make a very overkill 300 Do you all know of any combination that does more? I'm curious :D
@@Zeetrik still the highest attack i believe, although impulse could match it with boomer if the player has 2 other boomers on the board (70+40+40)+burn+poison+tnt

I'm not sure we should police our innocent words just in case someone gets upset despite there being no reason to, you know? At the end of the day we're all here because we enjoy Ren and TCG, I'd hope/assume no-one here is looking to be unkind to anyone else.
Just finished! Next time include the pack-opening, its an essential part of the game xD
Extra flee: Attack for 100 then trigger effect. Would flee and avoid enemy attacking tango back on their turn
Combo with rare xisuma’s poison and can deal damage to enemy hermits (now on bench) when poison tick procs.
1-time effect card combos: anything to deal damage to afk hermits or shuffle active/ logged in hermit faster handy, i.e.:
Crossbow: deal 10 dmg to afk hermit
Poison: damages afk per tic? (Double check other poison cards)
Chorus Fruit: move tango back to active without losing attack phase; rinse and repeat combo
On of my favorite counterspells is 'didn't say please'.
Love hearing the MTG banter, counter spell is the best card in magic btw, Ren you nailed it lol
Hi Ren! Hope you won!! I’ll have to watch later ❤
"hard math" literally multiples of 7 lol! we love you Ren, camera math has got to be difficult though!
It's cool to see the difference between this game, and the ones that pearl or Cloe were a part of
I'm so glad you Hermits are posting all the games. This is very fun to watch. ALso, MTG rocks, I started in 94 and have thousands of cards. Love mtg... well what it used to be. Ok lets watch this game!
6:40 - Mumbo joined the game?!
Uhm , maybe you should check mumbo's channel
Time skip is 80 attack, i think
As far as i remember, beef said that players are allowed to do 80 damage consecutively, its just the time skip effect that can't be applied twice in a row.
@@DSTARC__ I stand corrected
This may still be a valuable nerf
Single-use is part of the attack phase. They go off during the attack phase. When switching players, can only use non-damaging single-use cards, can't use lava buck and other damage.
It's so great to watch just how much fun you guys are having with the TCG :)
Total nerd happiness ❤
Tangos flee attack is great if the other player has switched and only has a low hermit or does not have another with power. You can force them to swap. Works great when you have a chorus fruit at least in the online version
Where is that playable liek what’s the website
I like that you move your hand to the far right so the new card is easy to notice. As long as it's not a duplicate card which is fine in it's self.
Ahhh the last game when Ren just didn't put item cards on Iskall D:< ur killing me man
Love it and yes will love to watch as many of these as possible 😍
This is pretty fun! But Jevin has been using Joe hills incorrectly to his advantage lol! He can't attack with timeskip consequently (even the 90 attack with no effect isn't allowed) I guess Beef will have to clarify this at some point
Hey Ren I love the TCG episode. For next games try calculations without the 0s. If that makes sense.
So that 210 minus 70, becomes 21-7. Maybe this will be easier on your brain.
1:06:50 couldn't Ren play the TNT here to win instantly? Or does Time Skip also stop single use effect cards from being used?
I like how Ren and Jevin just casually uses MTG lingo
Those cards that provide additional residual effect damage are fantastic.
Beefs done an incredible job not just building this but coming up with a solid card game mechanic!!! This should get a paper version!!!
I'd be all over that like sauce on hot chips!!
on your second game with jevin did you forget to skip your first attack?
As a magic player, This is awesome, love that two of the power nine have made it into this game lol
Coulda TNT'ed the Joe at 1:05:50 so that even if he afk'ed him, he would die on the next turn.
If Ren plays mtg arena, i would watch that. He has such a fun commentary.
Missed the 10 damage to AFK hermit (impulse) when crossbow was played & knocked out joe
I love watching these matches so much!
This is honestly really entertaining to watch considering I'm not really a fan of tcgs
(apologize if this was covered later in the video, just stopped to check)
....literally 45 seconds later, lol
I haven't watched Yugioh or heard the song in forever, but hermitcraft TCG's got "No Matter What" from the first season of Yugioh stuck in my head.
I love that you move cards out of the first slot in your shulker so you can always tell what is being drawn - it's a tiny thing but keeps things tidy!
I have been trying to find the most damage you can do on one turn, so far I think:
Doc with world eater double attack (100×2) + Burn (20) + Poison (20) + TNT (60) would make a very overkill 300
Do you all know of any combination that does more? I'm curious :D
Isn't worldeater 160 (80*2)?
@@fraytherike is it? Maybe it is my memory is trash
@@fraytherike It is! I was thinking of N.H.O which is double if Etho, Bdubs and Doc are AFK
@@Zeetrik still the highest attack i believe, although impulse could match it with boomer if the player has 2 other boomers on the board (70+40+40)+burn+poison+tnt
Poison and fire can't be applied at once even if you have required cards and effects .Only one of these effects takes place at a time.
