In January 2022, a shocking report emerged-nearly all of North Korea’s websites were down. Speculation ran wild, from hacker groups to government agencies. But the truth? It was just one man, working alone. Meet P4x, the hacker who breached North Korea’s digital defenses. After years of hiding and fearing for his life, he’s finally ready to tell his story.

What’s your take-was Alex response over the top, or did North Korea get what they deserved?
Also, big thanks to today’s sponsor!
I don't think it was a good idea to film that interview in an open air space. Some crazy geolocation experts can pinpoint the location of that picture using even the angle of the sunlight. I'm just worried. Sorry.
Lol
Ddos attack🤔 is ransomware attack
Nothing is over the top when responding to the DPRK.
Far over the top you called the whole country terrorist, their not just the government
Glad to see The Weeknd and Jack Harlow together
good one 😂😅
😂😂
😂
LMAO
I don't see the weekend in this vid ):
Bro grounded an entire country for a phishing backdoor
That hacker was like : hmm, you’ve been a bad boy, no internet for today
You could probably DDOS North Korea's entire internet infrastructure with a Raspberry PI 😂
Straight upgrade from been batman to superman 😂❤
yes
Ok, time to use my raspberry pi useful 😂😂
@@brothersgta339-jb1ld I love the pi. It's so versatile and fun
Commodore 64, hacked the mainframe. 😂😂😂
Watch out for the Casio watches. 😂😂😂
I was always curious as a private citizen if you hacked a foreign adversary of the United States how our government would react. I suppose it would depend upon the circumstances. Props to this man for accomplishing that hack by himself.
DDoS attacks are a federal crime. This guy had MAJOR connections. I promise you any average citizen pulls this off, they have 2 options, work for the government or become a felon and have your electronics all seized.
@@chen-beixuan Doesn't really apply if the attacked country isn't part of the UN and doesn't use any infrastructure from the UN
Expect a prefilled job application from the NSA directly to your mailbox.
This balanced on the fulcrum of his TSC. Who would prosecute it? The guy already proved his loyalty to America and went through a bunch of tests, polygraphs and stuff that would indicate to any potential jury that he was working as a good faith actor for his country.
he probably launched the attack while he was drunk 🤣
This was a great insight and the cyber security theatre is not really talked too much about. I would be happy to hear more hacker stories and the impacts of people and business. Great video, Kaya!
i wish we could've seen the whole conversation not just bits of it! i wouldve watched for hours.
Can we please give this man a medal of merit. What a patriot.
Awesome video with a fascinating guy.
He has two?
did you not watch the video? He got a medal lol.
What an amazing video, thanks algorithm!
Thanks algorithm from us as well!

02:59 that's so freaking true!! I've heard so many hackers from young to old when they do the bug bounty they usually don't get paid because even companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google etc. love to weasel out from paying with various excuses after the hacker shows how the bug is done.
And then they wonder why some hackers rather sell their bug/exploit in black market.
It's also not much of a surprise that sometimes they already know about it and happy with it being there.
I wish I had 1000th this guy's skills so I can hack my own wifi, I mean connect to my wifi 😂
You can sir, there’s so much out there you can learn :)
Or just pay for it😂fucking loser
haha appreciate it dude. You can. It's not innate, I just worked my ass off all day every day :).

@alejandrocaceres8366 thanks for the answer;) it's not just hardworking (and I know it's a lot of it!), people like you have a very particular kind of intelligence and clarity of thinking when it comes to certain subjects (science, advanced technologies and programming, networks, maths...). Not anyone can do it and many of us try to be smarter by reading about those subjects and hit a plateau very fast. That's why high profiles are rare.
@@alejandrocaceres8366 Wow, Nice Work Dude.
Your commentary got in the way. Just let the interview play out with Alex
This was an awesome watch!
0:43 good job guys
Great story, great interview. I appreciate hearing more from the INTERVIEWER. At least he could articulate a narrative. The hacker was too busy talking about how fabulous he is and how terrible the FBI was. Surprised he didn’t break his arm from patting himself on the back.
This is really cool to watch
very thing was carefully explain and understandable, nice one dude
thank you 🫶
3:45 there is a stick figure drawing...almost fell outta my chair laughing at the depction of the " North Korean Guy ( or probably 20 or 30 people...with slanted eyes bahahahahahaha..."

just 5 years ago it was totally ok. I'm Asian, and I don't give a fuck. Bring that sh1t back

Honestly Im surprised this isnt done every hour of every day

Would it be possible to actually open North Korea to the world internet or feed news and stories about their dictator and how it oppress the population?
Or just show them how South Korea lives.
You don't think they know they oppressed?
Some people actually don't@@loh1870
Some dont. @@loh1870
@@loh1870 They don't. kids are born everyday in that country and their only frame of reference is that lifestyle. If all you know is oppression, and all your parents know is oppression, and there is no one to give them a frame of reference of what living freely looks like, then to them its just life. Its like being born blind. You can't miss seeing stuff because you never have. Your only frame of reference is other people that can see which in turn makes you want to see. We learned about this back in middle school and high school. Indoctrination
it does not give you acess to a server, it gives you a copy of data. thats why you changing your website copy does nothing to the backend.
Fun fact: This video is longer than the duration of Internet connected to North Korea.
With a name like mine, how could I not comment?!
Boy.. cant wait for The Weeknd to do a N.Korea vlog
5:52 "AGAIN" i love this dude
Mae, yo tmb soy Tico. Gran video. Great video, I love your content and I watch every upload.

Hey I’m a first timer here and loved the way you did your research. What a fascinating story! Just think, you become an old decrepit old man and look back on your life and wonder what legacy you left behind, and then you remember, “oh damn I took down North Korea for a week!”
I’d be okay with that!!!
I'm doing something at the same time, but did you say no country has ever actually attacked another country via cyber attack?
What an absolute legend!
My respect for this guy is beyond my understanding! XD
He's fearless and honest attitude is just so badass!!!!
thanks dude, much appreciated :)
- P4x
I thought we gonna hear the guy talk, but it's just you doing the talking
fr xd
@tanakayuukiVTexactly!!!
Dumbasses like myself appreciate his abbreviations and break downs
You didn't have to publicly admit you know where he loves twice.
Thank you for this awesome video. I’m definitely going to school for cybersecurity.
Nice stuff! I had to watch again !
Nice video. I liked just letting the talent speak and not interrupt.
Came here for an interview, heard the video maker listen to himself talk and stopped after a couple minutes
I have respect for these guys!
Wait… n Korea has internet? Serious question I just watch a documentary that said they just have newspapers and broadcasts
they have thier own internet. Only a select few can get on the real internet.
Non news story: Private sector is more efficient than the government.
This video did a good job of highlighting the fact that this "hacker" is actually not very intelligent at all.
Estonia was attacked by another country at 2007, for 22 days
I wonder how many people got permanently ended by the NK regime because this guy broke into their Internet.
This is like a movie
Great job, I love videos like this
North Korean Internet:
2 yoghurt cups joined by a piece of string.
Amazing work, as usual.
Thanks!
such a good story, very bad narration. I understand you didn't have much content from the dude. but you are doing so many interventions damn just stop yourself from speaking, just the thing he is trying to explain continue. You totally skipped the part how he was phished post talking about vm 😢
I like it :). They captured exactly my voice lol. I like that they included all the "So I did this and shit.." Re. the VM not much more to say. I opened a visual studio project. When you do that you have very complex config files that can execute code. Hidden in there was a stupid ass simple reverse powershell.

@@alejandrocaceres8366 bru u aren't him
agree, it was very exhausting to watch this lol. which is sad because the story seems very interesting
This is wild. Bro got some ego
My question to Alejandro: how do you maintain your clearances and b2g while clearly being stoned? Teach me senpai
I've met him once. Looking different. Interesting responses
I’m curious why he hadn’t kept them down for longer.
The thing that awesome to me is that this guy just seems like the hella cool neighbor you drink and have BBQ’s with.
So he hacked like two websites that runs on dial up?
I submitted a bug to a game developer, with screenshots of how I had broken the game. He replied "Thanks". I sent a follow up email asking for a bounty for discovering the bug, and the developer replied, "I'll just add it to the next round of bug fixes and upgrades." He absolutely did not care if the game was easily/repeatably broken. All he cared about was people paying for the subscription.
Bug bounty programs are usually for security issues, not general functionality issues.
Dozens of bugs get found daily…. The thanks was meant and earnest, asking for money was never gonna fly.
The videos great, well sourced and very entertaining (as always) but I question accepting the sponsorship from Artisan.
AI has already displaced jobs in Cyber and IT and thats not slowing down anytime soon.
5:28 Learned so much here... hackers put ketchup on their fries too 🤫
1:41 I suspect he got honey trapped.
He is the new age Punisher. So freaking cool.
haha wish i was that badass :).

Scary to think one person can shut down a nations internet with $750.00
Good vid. More please
If you try searching this video on your tv you wont find it. But you can find it on your pc. What could be the issue? I used "the harker who broke north korea's internet"

Iran cyber attacked Albania, and bad diplomacy happened. They kicked the embassy out of the country.
does north korea have really slow wifi?
Why some founders are ending up in jail? Wild guess: Because they made tyrants worry a little, and they just can't allow that can they?
Wouldn't the coin have a tracker?
amazing more content about this 😍
Did you really not get a decent shot of the second challenge coin? Cmon guys
DUDE! I keep skipping because you don’t let the guy talk! HE’S ALREADY EXPLAINING!!!
North Korea probably has dial up Internet 😂
DoSing a couple of routers helps anyone how exactly?
Amazing journalism brother
Slidebean: What happens when you take down Kim Jong Un's internet?
Me: He gets all pissed that he cannot talk to hot local Koreans in his area.
What's that?
He has his own separate internet portal for that?
Just a START BABY
90% of the media saying that North Korea doesn't have computers, internet, or even electricity ! How than they can hack anyone? 😅
because the media lies ALL THE TIME. hhahaha
In Pyongyang they have access to computers and the intranet but that is only the upper class of NK and those who have shown loyalty to the regime. In the more rural areas of NK they are dirt poor and have nothing
Why didn't he take over their broadcasts and encourage them to revolt?
Ik. He probably doesn't have the skills. Just an overrated "hacker", so he just did a basic ddos attack
intranet* not internet. n. korea does not have internet, only an intranet, which is not the same as the internet.
I think the Internet & Intranet is the same thing, connected computers, it's just the Intranet limits access outside the system. I worked with an Intranet at a Company I worked with, if you needed access to a website that was restricted you could just make a business case to get that site" Whitelisted" so you could access it. e.g. I wanted Google maps & explained why & got access. They didn't have to build a new system just changed access permissions.
“China’s had it for like 15 years. I know that for a FACT!” This guy is a character I’d like to get drunk with too. And I hate that shit.
As a North Korean agent I am en route to this man’s location
jack harlow broke the intranet
The u.s probably knew about this exploited long before this guy did and left it alone on purpose. This guy exsposed it now they will upgrade
Why does bro look like Jack Harlow? The resemblance.
Hack harlow
I wonder if NK now has more than 2 routers
5:37 Russia kinda attacked Estonia in 2007.
I have never seen a Hacker that does not have the hacker personality
What’s “hacker personality?”

Tired, pale, and dishevled? That's how they all are. This dude fits it perfectly.
anyone want to pull a Rainbolt and figure out where they recorded this?
hahaha. An unknown location ;-). If anyone guesses don't come too close, I'm dangerous on a computer. The other researcher that was sitting there is just dangerous everywhere. Also happens to work as personal protection along with being a great friends. Sudden movements may cause accidents :P.

@@alejandrocaceres8366 I mean I don't want to bring the wrath of you upon myself plus I assume you didn't care since you gave the interview at a spot with pretty apparent background, but Im pretty sure I got it just by a simple reverse image search and basic osint shit. Not gonna reveal it tho just cuz you might not want it out there :)
Looks like they were coming out of Pyongyang, I can’t imagine the adrenaline / anxiety you get when you hit NK’s routers offline, & not just them looking into you but your gov aswell😂 atleast he proved his point to them fafo
3:45 I’m actually crying in laughter 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 love some subtle dark humour
We need him for cyber ops in spaceforce.
His drawing skills are so bad that it might as well be South Korea instead of the north one. And the map image you used as a background at 7:09 is showing South Korea.
🤣 yeah, i can't draw for shit. But you get the idea...

Mate the video is amazing, very well done. But I can’t take my eyes off that beautiful Hamilton watch, truly a gem
Haha thanks ☺️ ⏱️
I’m more a pop culture geek than a watch collector, but gotta give it to Hamilton.

Video would've been better if you just played the interview instead of switching back and forth.
All the music playing in the video ruins it
How about you lett him tell the story? This is a what could be a great 1:30 min or a 2 hour video..
