I work in tourism marketing and the first time I was in Seattle to meet with city leaders I grabbed a coffee and asked the concierge the best way to get down to the waterfront .. they looked at me blankly.
Every time we came to Seattle we had to shake our head and say "no, we can't sell this".
The same hideous chaos had once stood in San Francisco known as the embarcadero. A horrible double decker expressway that cut off the waterfronts and was not just an eyesore, it was unsafe, funded in the same era and built by the same bloody architects. It came down after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and now that area brings tons of tourism to San Francisco.
There was a delay due to the pandemic but things are definitely on track. I am now based in Seattle and I walk the area every few weeks. This is actually the very first time since wild west days that Seattle's waterfront will actually represent the city in a positive light.
    It looks phenomenal!
PS when asked what was the "inspiration", that was a silly question. Money honey. This will bring Seattle up to the big boys table.

Crime? I used to live in Seattle for many years. None of this matters if criminals are allowed to recommit without consequences. I would love to go there and enjoy it but getting there and crime keeps me away sadly

It’s a nice area now, you just have so much disdain for your fellow human beings.
