I mean, fully support Rick with some of his disagreements but he takes his reaction a little too far sometimes which keeps us from enjoying the rest of the good parts of the video. About Padmavat- the entire thing was a mess- From what I understood Ranveer didn't want Shahid in the movie and neither did SLB. Deepika insisted on Shahid since she wanted her acting partner to be of a significant calibre (BTW- many have said that Deepika was also short changed by that movie). Ranveer demanded that Shahid's role will be kept as small as possible. Add to that that Ranveer was having tantrums on set- if I'm not mistaken he was listening to music full blast, essentially interfering with Shahid's concentration. Also- the CEO of the production house retweeted tweets mocking Shahid and praising Ranveer. This and the fact that Shahid didn't even appear in the first trailer, seem to give the go ahead to Ranveer's fans and the media to attack Shahid (never mind the riots that broke after that trailer since it suggested a a love connection between Ranveer's character and Padmavat. Very badly done trailer). During that promotion that he tried to make Shahid feel welcome, while Shahid never implied that he didn't. Add this to Ranveer saying in the past that he would have done Kaminey better than Shahid and you are getting a very petty image of Ranveer

    Chronology of the Padmavat controversy:
    1. Movie padmavat was majorly fleshed out for Ranveer and Deepika.
    2. For Raja Ratan Singh they were supposed to cast Vicky Kaushal(as the role was not much). But apparently Deepika refused to work with him(as he was just a newcomer) and hence he was let go.
    3. Shahid was onboarded to the project, and the role of Raja Ratan Singh was slightly stuffed more to accommodate Shahid.
    4. Shahid was miffed at the final project for obvious reasons.

His portrayal of the character even overshadowed the beautiful and courageous portrayal of Padmavathi by Deepika. Raja Ratan Singh's characterization was perfect and shahid did an excellant job. Firstly, I want to clarify that I am not a fan of Salman or Amir.
Secondly, it is essential to recognize that India and America are two distinct countries with different cultures. What may be acceptable in American culture may not necessarily align with Indian values. In India, we have a different perspective on topics related to sex. While we acknowledge that it is a natural aspect of life and cannot be denied, we prefer not to discuss it openly out of respect for our cultural norms. I believe it is crucial for others to understand and respect these cultural differences instead of expressing opinions that may not be relevant or helpful.
Regarding the comparison with Rick's defense regarding blocking Twitter users who engage in abuse, it draws a parallel to our perspective on vulgarity in films. Just as Rick regards his home with certain rules, India, as a nation, also upholds cultural values and has specific guidelines concerning what is considered appropriate for our society. We believe in maintaining a balance between artistic expression and adhering to cultural sensibilities, which may differ from those of other countries.

They are used to watching way more than that. Most hollywood movies with nudity and sex scenes also seem forced. Old hollywood movies didn't have nudity and that many sex scenes either. It started changing since 80's, and that is happening with our ott shows now. A new netflix show called Kohra opens with a sex scene which seemed absolutely unnecessary. He went on about touching her legs and toes. She didnt understand the language very well, so she kept smiling. It was higly inappropriate.
And I think you guys just ignore the toxic nepotism simply coz you are fans of Alia. The point Siddant made was that, star kids get served with a choice of roles as the lead, with star directors to debut with (Sonam said that she struggled to decide between Bhansali, KJo and some other director to debut with- THAT was her struggle, and Ananya in that round table said that she is NOT a star kid because her father hasnt been to Koffee with Karan). The outsiders have to struggle to get into the same room with a star director. They are hardly considered for leading role and dont get a second chance if their film flops. Alia, Sona, Abhishek, even Saif Ali Khan in his youth got so many chances. Arjun Kapoor is still getting films.
And not just Jhanvi, even Sara admitted that she begged and stalked the directors to get a role. Its a priviledge that outsiders dont have, and that is what they consider as struggle.
Siddant simply put it as "Where your struggle starts, thats the point where our dreams are achieved"

Robo apparently kept begging to touch her leg and most of his speech was surrounding how he didn't get to touch her leg. Hansika had refused to do such a scene no matter how much Robo wanted to do it. He also made a comment about the perks of being a [lead] actor (not comedian) because they get to have such intimate scenes with an actress. People were upset because he just kept talking about touching her and how badly he wanted to do the scene (he's a married man and he's talking about wanting to touch another woman) but also because of the way he kept mentioning her refusal and wanting to touch her.

Pot/weed/marijuana/cannabis has an interesting history in India. It's mentioned for its medicinal value in many ayurvedic texts, and also many Hindus see it being associated with Lord Shiva. In fact it used to be legal once upon a time even in modern India (or consumption was decriminalized rather), but was banned & termed "narcotic," no prizes for guessing under the influence of America's "War on Drugs." The main reason India complied was to avoid retaliation in the WTO, which is pretty much an institution of furthering American interests. Today it's available only in the form of bhaang in some states & only from govt. authorized stores.
But sadly, unlike America, where change is relatively quicker once the politicos gain some perspective, in India reforms/changes, even for bad policy is ridiculously difficult to achieve as long as public perception on it is negative or mixed. The average Indian boomer sees it as a narcotic drug today & no political party will dare bring out a policy that "encourages drugs."

If censoring is what you do not wants, but then where will you stop....Then why isn't Oppenhiemer rated for all audience. Then Every child will decide whether he/she wants to watch it or not. Or Even if child watches it, there is nothing wrong because by your logic, there is no morality and ethics.

If a parent doesn't want his/her child to watch a particular movie, then parents should be accountable. And even if a kid watches an adult movie, then what is the harm. Even if mind gets filth by watching such stuff, what is the problem. Even if whole generation's mind get corrupt then what is the issue 🤦🏼‍♂

Not mad at all by what you both said.:) People do need to learn to be able to take a joke and laugh at themselves.:) I also think censorship is wrong, but I do worry when people fall for conspiracy theories because there’s a deliberate attempt by bad people in power to manipulate and sway a large group of people into having extremist beliefs which could ultimately unravel the entire foundation of a democracy. I completely understand your point of view, though, too. Loved this video and loved your insight!❤ Thank you so much, Rick and Korbin!:)

I think so not being lewd and vulgar is in our culture. Like we are allowing dance numbers and a little vulgar dance, so enjoy them
I dont think so, that adding sex scenes improves the movie even a bit. I agree with salman, cuz in my opinion, the directors have no need to put such scenes. I have never seen a very famous movie, with too much sex scenes. Those are the movies ir shows which come on ott, cuz they know these could only be seen alone, not with family.
I am sure, whenever any sex scene comes, if u are seeing it with somebody whoever it is, u will feel awkward.
And why do we need that scene. Was titanic remembered for its kissing scene. No, but its hand raise scene at the edge with the wind flowing, thats the real beauty, not the kiss that follows. And i even have no probs with kissing, but sex scenes just makes it awkward, like really.
And no sex scene have any significance, they are just added to lessen the director's work of showing chemistry. If u want to show chemistry, show sex. Thats the mindset of these newbie directors. Our old directors, used to cut just before sex, and the audience used to assume that yes they made out. Nobody cared about seeing how did they make out. All these are western shit, cuz ofc hollywood never had probs in making actresses naked, even though many of them were forced to do so, cuz u know they are the 'dream' factory. Creative liberty is fine, but as i said, sex scenes have never added up anything to the movie. Never.
See the sex scene in Oppenheimer, did it add something no? They could have just shown us a kiss, but no, they will go overboard without any reason.
      Edit- this is my opinion

Actually titillating the audience has been part of Indian culture. Nautankis which used to take place in villages, even some folk songs are risque( suggestive). Khajuraho and Kamasutra are products of our culture. I have an objection to portraying Indian culture as totally puritanical or absurdly vulgar. Our culture is complex and has many elements woven together to form a tapestry. I agree with your statement that films, OTT etc use sex scenes to attract the audience and don't really add to the story.
