Downtown Grand Haven, MI

Grand Haven, MI is a charming city on Lake Michigan. Definitely on our list of dog friendliest towns.
The dogs were able to eat, shop, swim, and seemed happy overall in Grand Haven, MI.
Many many many Downtown shops allowed the dogs in, in their stroller or out of their stroller. Shops were welcoming the dogs, several even had water bowls out, there's a big pet store right in downtown. We had a blast walking and shopping with the dogs.
Beo did so well. He seemed to enjoy everything from his stroller.
This was such a cute city. I'm really glad we chose to come here. There are quite a few beachfront towns in MI along the Great Lakes, so far this is one of my favorites.
Grand Haven is the first city officially designated as Coast Guard City, USA by an act of Congress signed by President Bill Clinton. The act was Public Law 105-383 enacted by the United States Congress and signed by the president on November 13, 1998.
Getting around Downtown Grand Haven is easy whether you are traveling by car, bus, bike or on foot. The district is conveniently located just off of US-31. Simply take US-31 to Washington Ave., turn west and you’re there!
Washington Ave. is our Main Street. It runs the length of the district, passing through Centertown, the Hilltop and Downtown ending at the Waterfront. Once in Downtown Grand Haven, there are eateries, shops, service businesses, marinas, beaches, activities and events galore-all within walking distance.
There is ample free parking throughout the region. And, an inexpensive ride on Harbor Transit is just a call away, with stops throughout the tri-cities area.
