- Vanessa Lynn Williams (born March 18, 1963) is an American singer, actress and former fashion model. In 1983, she became the first woman of African-American descent to be crowned Miss America,[1] but a scandal arose when Penthouse magazine bought and published nude photographs of her. She relinquished her title early and was succeeded by the first runner-up, Suzette Charles of New Jersey -- who was also African-American. Williams rebounded by launching a career as an entertainer, earning multiple Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award nominations.
Williams released her debut album The Right Stuff in 1988, which spawned the hits "The Right Stuff", a #1 on Hot Dance Songs, and "Dreamin'" a #1 on R&B and #8 on Billboard Hot 100. Her second studio album The Comfort Zone in 1991 topped the Billboard R&B Album Chart, which spawned the Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit "Save the Best for Last". In 1994 she debuted on Broadway in the musical Kiss of the Spider Woman. In 1995 she recorded "Colors of the Wind", the Oscar-winner for Best Original Song from the Disney animated feature film Pocahontas, which reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Williams's first film acting role was as the star of the feature film Eraser in 1996. She also starred in the movies Soul Food, Dance with Me, The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, Shaft and Johnson Family Vacation. From 2006 to 2010, she played the role of the scheming, self-absorbed diva and former supermodel Wilhelmina Slater in the ABC comedy series Ugly Betty, for which she received three Emmy Awards nominations. In 2009, Williams released her eighth studio album, The Real Thing. From 2010 to 2012, she starred in Desperate Housewives as spoiled rich woman Renee Perry. In 2012, she will star in the upcoming supernatural drama series 666 Park Avenue. - Wikipedia

Her eyes are mesmerizing, I couldn't take my eyes off of them. Beautiful, intelligent woman it's a shame that her crown was taken away in the end.
That was SOOO sweet of her to help that girl that was interested in being a contestant to get the information. Vanessa was ALWAYS a class act and so articulate and confident.
And to date she remains the most successful winner :)
She just turned 50 (March 18, 2013) and still looks amazing. So beautiful and incredible, commanding screen, music and stage still. Non-stop.
Dammit. She’s so damn pretty. She’s always been so damn pretty. Her spirit and soul brings it home though.
20 year olds back then be lookin GROWN😆
America needs more intelligent, sophisticated black role models like Vanessa Williams and Phylicia Rashad
Ain't that the truth !!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
and bernadette stanis and janet jackson
Infinite Sky she’s not even black
Seth Allen she is black
How about we stop putting black women in a box. Because people can be "intelligent" in so many different ways. When it's creative black women like Missy Elliot you wouldn't call her intelligent simply because of the way she talks or she doesn't fit what you would call "intelligent" but creatives are also intelligent, creativity takes intelligence!
Sir Bill Boggs, such a gentleman & a class act.
He seems genuinely interested in engaged with Vanessa's talent and goals in life.
she is such a beautiful woman
I like this interview better, there's one with a blonde interviewer that just treat her as a black who won the contest and all the interview she asked questions toward her being black, Vanessa politely responds all question when I in her place will feel so uncomfortable, this guy in the other hand you can truly see he treats her as really is, a beautiful pageant who won.
VANESSA WILLIAMS IS STILL A FLAWLESS BEAUTY!
Yep
Vanessa is so wonderful
vanessa williams is and will always be my FAVORITE miss america. this is the first i've seen this interview. i'm impressed with how well she manages to get through what must have seemed like a year full of completely inane interactions with uneducated reporters. she seems to be controlling herself well in this one, but i think i can see hints of derision in her eyes. poor kid. given she was not a 'pageant' girl, he did a GREAT job!! LOVE HER!!!! go girl!!!!
She's so beautiful, smart and brave, I could see why she's so successful after she was forced to resign as Miss America. I'm glad she NEVER thought of joining Real Housewives of Atlanta or any reality Housewives shows. She's what little black girls should look up to.
Classy then and now. Beautiful then and now.
Well Vanessa used that scholarship go to school and buy your luxury things. She became the most famous and successful Miss America anyway, a superstar!
So poised and articulate answered the audience and interview questions like a champ at 20!
She’s always been a favorite of mine. Her talent is amazing!!
Unbelievable beauty.
A True Class Act!
Sweet, sweet girl who evolved into a great woman.
I'm glad they didn't bring up race in this interview.
I ❤️ the date 3/18//63. The best date in history!
I love Vanessa! Classy and Pose and down to earth!
lol ... She said the "biggest phallusy."
She is a flawless, classy, beautiful individual and an icon.
and you're bringing the "flaw" in her pronunciation. Haha, such a pathetic person you are.
Wow she was such a perfected news anchor at age 20!! Just wow! I see why she won!🙂
Proof, that you can move past your mistakes...❤❤❤
She looks like her Mother here..
The best college music major at Syracuse university..a PISCES pioneer.
This was a good interview. It had some tension but if you think about the setting; time; and other details of this particular conversation the case is good for people in the field to watch. V. Williams managed it well.
That was a great interview. I really like Bill Boggs interviewing style.
Erma Smith the only problem he kept interrupting her.
Really interesting interview with the most beautiful and all-round amazing woman of my lifetime...Vanessa Williams.
Even back then she had so much grace, humility, generosity and insight. Watching her be so honest and open with those young aspiring girls just goes to show she was always going to be so much than just a pageant winner. And she's even doing to this day...conducting master classes around the U.S. for high school students...what a lady.
But what also made this interview for me was Bill Boggs. Never seen him before (Aussie here) but what a cool guy. Didn't ask the same old predictable questions, didn't go for the race card...and was funny without going for the cheap shots. Thought I was watching a young Will Ferrell for a while! Thankyou.
Great voice!!😀
I don't think any woman be so perfect she is so talented and beautiful I will always love her.
♓is the best Ms America.. PERIOD!!
I like how she was willing to help girl in audience for helping to get info on pageant. It doesn't matter the pictures, that to me shows her true strength and character.
i noticed that too she was giving as much info as she could in that little time she was given . she was very serious. The lady in the audience was really pretty.
A well deserved Ms New York & The best Ms America..in my view, the only true Ms America..
Vanessa Williams, the most beautiful woman on earth or mars
So beautiful, elegant and well-spoken 👏
I don't believe she had a nose job. Her nose looks the same as always. She's very pretty! ❤😊
Oh, she had one. It's odd to find an entertainer who hasn't. It seems like an unspoken right of passage.
@@TheRetroWoman80 Did she say she did?
@@MissNolver She never personally said it (most entertainers will not) but it is quite obvious if you track her career in photos from the Miss America period onward.
@@TheRetroWoman80Then I choose to believe she didn't have a nose job.
She has this interviewer wrapped around her finger.
THAT IS VERY TRUE. YOU HAVE YOUR OUTDOORS. I'LL HAVE MINE. SOME THINGS OR SEASONS ARE MESSY.
She always amazed me how resilient she is...... Always bounces back from adversity..... I wonder what Suzette Charles is now?
This is VW's original nose; when she reappeared in 1988 she had a fresh nose job.
To crags list I also noticed that her nose looked a lot more European after she came back as a singer in 1988.it looked more slimer and not as wide. You can really tell the difference in the difference in her nose if you watch a interview she did in 1984 with a blond lady. It's on RUclips. I just saw it. Compare her nose in that interview to the nose she later had as a singer. You can see a big difference. Pamela Anderson had a nose job, and lip injections. She was pretty before but she was really beautiful after the nose job. Angelina Jolie, Janet Jackson, tyra banks, Hallie berry, Latoya jackson, Lisa rinna, Kirstie alley, brook shields, who had a prefect nose, had one later, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Kardashian, and others. Most of the beauty pageant contestants don't have a perfect nose. They should not be lowed to enter a beauty contest unless they have a perfect nose.
I have met her and have seen her up close.I think it’s contouring with make up and the lighting can affect a person’s features.Looking at other pictures,I think she has her original nose. Now one of her front teeth has been replaced. She has mentioned that.
This nose is also very nice. If she had anything done, it was very subtle. Absolute beauty either way
B A Agree!!!
@@cathyjohnson3731 You mentioned Pam Anderson as having a nose job and becoming more beautiful afterwards. Marilyn Monroe also had a nose job very early in her career and she too became even more beautiful. Having said that, I don't know if Vanessa has ever admitted to having had a nose job, but age and gravity can cause subtle changes in a person's facial features. It happened with my beloved late maternal aunt who looked even more Ethiopian later in life.
This is great!
3/18/63 was a great date!!!
Pisces is my favorite sign ever!..& I am a Gemini! Sadly so.
She has really fine tuned her singing since that performance
She sang this on Ugly.Betty.S03E23 28:19
She is not the first of African American descent.
There are many Miss Americas that are part Egyptian.
Egypt is in Africa the last we checked.
Who are those people
What a woman!!
Lovely smile.
She grew younger
MARCH 18 year 1963 was 💯
♊❤️❤️❤️♓💯💯💯💯‼️
Can't believe she can turn into Wilhelmina Slater .... :D
Predrag Jancic, you're spot on she's a monster as Wilhelmina Slater.
shut up with the Whilemina bullshit. She was famous before Ugly Betty.
Diahann Carroll? Blue eyes ? Sinatra?
You lie she do not have a noes job
Tyler Mcneil yes she has
At this point, Vanessa Williams should have her own Barbie doll. Seriously.
What is taking Mattel so long??
🤘
♊😄😄😄❤️♓💯‼️
she looks older than 20
♊❤️❤️❤️♓💯💯💯‼️

I've always felt it was a set up as well.
Where Suzette Charles is now, I mean.....
I think she changed her nose. it looks different here.
Yes, she did have rhinoplasty.
Holy shit Dash this is awful, but in such an amazing way #LoveIt
THE WORST DOES DRAW THE LINES ON LIFE. AND YOU SHOULD KNOW THE SEASONS THAT WE LIVE. WHILE I'M GETTING MINE. I'D APPRECIATE IT IF YOU BUY AN EQUINOX TO BE NOSEY.
♊❤️❤️♓&😄2♓💯‼️

i love Vanessa, but she shouldn't have touched this song.
NO ONE should be allowed to sing "The Man That Got Away" except Judy Garland. .. MAYBE Liza.
엄청 이쁜데 촌스러운 헤어스타일때문에 엄청난 미모가 가려지네
